Ragnaros the Firelord was a series of really long discussions with some of my friends. It came down to what we would add for the last slot. Ragnaros is a card that if you have board control wins you the game. Kind of like Hogger or Sylvanas Windrunner and a lot of other cards actually. Ragnaros does it fastest. The second thing about Ragnaros is it doesn’t attack itself, so that’s good against Shaman, Druid, big minion Mage, and against Warlock. I suspect that Ragnaros will become more important to the meta as more people start to curve to it. As it stands now people curve to Argent Commander but eventually they will curve out to Ragnaros instead, because Ragnaros is a great win condition.

Every competitive deck should have one win condition, if not more and Ragnaros is definitely a great choice for that.

Quote from MKR3

The change in the cost of freeze cards! Eh, come on those three cards are annoying, everyone knows this but mage still have some overpowered cards. The problem with Mages isn’t the freeze ability but direct damage without hindrance. I like playing Mage and burning my opponent’s face with Pyroblast and Fireball, but in my opinion this shouldn’t be possible. Fireball and Pyroblast should be changed.
For example, in Arena when you finally stabilize but only have 10 HP left and some taunts or normal minions, you’re still in trouble of losing. All is fine vs all eight other classes, but when you play against a Mage you always have to think in the back of your head, “OMG NOT ! NOT Pyroblast and Fireball! COME'ON GOD!” I don’t like it to be honest.

The other problem is Flamestrike. When you are playing an arena match versus a priest, you can have seven minions with 3 HP and you are fine, right? You know that Holy Nova can only deal two damage. When you play against Mage, you have to slow your play a lot. You only play between two to three minions at a time because of Flamestrike. Maybe some more if you had cards like Boulderfist Ogre or Stormwind Champion that could survive one Flamestrike. But don’t worry mage have 2 Flamestrikes! So don’t get excited if they survive the first Flamestrike, because next turn your entire board could be cleared again.
