Hearthstone Puzzles #4, Three Competing Resources, Known Issues Update, Opt-In Update

Puzzles and Hearthstone 4: The Puzzling

Earlier today, Zeriyah posted three new Hearthstone puzzles for you to take a stab at! If you think you've found a solution to the puzzles, feel free to use our spoiler tags and post them in the comments! Good luck and have fun!

The Three Competing Resources: Tempo, Card Advantage, and Hero Life by Sar

ManaGrind's Sar has started a series of analytical articles to help pave you a path to victory in Hearthstone. Sar's first article in the series, The Three Competing Resources, is hot off the press and is a precursor to the awesomeness that is to come. Check out a snippet from Sar's article, and if you'd like to read the full thing, head on over to this thread on the ManaGrind Articles forum. Don't forget to leave feedback!

In the long run, the goal of these articles will be to teach Hearthstone strategies.  But due to the wide variety of options, we need to first start with the basics of tempo, card advantage, and the heroes’ life points.  These are the three primary resources within the game, and often, advancing one tends to occur at the expense of at least one other.  Understanding these trade-offs is necessary for understanding more complicated strategy elements.  As a summary, these three resources are:

Tempo: References the rate at which you can spend mana in order to put minions on the board or remove enemy minions.
Card advantage: References the number of cards each player has on the board and in hand.
Hero life: The remaining life the hero has; when it hits zero, you lose.

Beta Patch 4217 Known Issues Update

Aratil posted an update tonight in the Known Issues thread! The bug with minions providing wonky Health bonuses has been solved, however, with all good news, comes some bad news; We will have to wait until at least next week before the issue with players being unable to start arena runs is resolved as it requires a client side patch. Make sure you don't close your client on the rewards screen of an arena run, or you might find yourself unable to play arena until the next patch.

Some updates:

  • RESOLVED - Minions that give Health buffs such as Blood Imp and Stormwind Champion may provide an inaccurate amount of Health bonus in certain situations.
  • When finishing an Arena run, if the client is closed while on the rewards screen, an issue may occur that would prevent this account from starting any new Arena runs.

Due to complications related to this issue and the fact that it will require a client patch in order to resolve, we will unfortunately not be able to resolve this issue this week. We are still working to resolve this issue as soon as possible and will keep everyone posted.

Opt-In Waves and NA Wave Issues

Opt-In waves for the Hearthstone beta test went out for both North America and Europe today, but, during the wave of invites for NA, recipients did not receive a beta key! This issue has since been resolved and everyone should have received a Beta Key in a second email if you previously received one from today's opt-in wave and it was empty. Congratulations to everyone who got in!

Quote from Zeriyah

Due to a technical issue, our recent North American Hearthstone beta key wave on December 12th did not correctly include beta keys. We are currently working on resolving this issue and proper emails with a beta key will be resent to affected players within the next few hours.

The proper emails with a beta key have now been resent and should finish sending within the hour.
