World of Warcraft Trading Card Game Ends
The production of WoWTCG has ended. While it was widely speculated that Hearthstone would be the replacement for the TCG, we can now safely say that this has been confirmed from the following blue post.
Originally posted by Blizzard (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)We wanted to take a moment to thank all of you World of Warcraft Trading Card Game players out there for your support of the game for close to seven years.
We’ve had a blast working on it, and we knew that Set 21, Timewalkers: Reign of Fire would really grab everyone's attention. In addition to delivering original and fun gameplay mechanics and giving players a new way to explore the story of Warcraft III, it’s stuffed with every single one of the much-sought-after Loot cards from each of the previous sets.
Set 21 represents something else as well: it’s the climactic last set for the WoW TCG. We are grateful for being able to collaborate with the artists and everyone else who helped make this game a reality all these years. We're also thankful for all the players and retailers who've participated in the community globally. You made ripping open booster packs, discovering the wonders they held, and then building decks and taking them into battle a truly awesome experience.
Thank you all again for your support in making the WoW TCG one of the most epic trading card games of all time.

i hope they will release today. i'm very starved for that game :D
Yay another big beta wave on Tuesday :)
Come on beta invite. With a broken leg I need stuff to pass the time. Wonder if they will convert tcg to hearthstone versions of the cards. I see loot cards coming in hearthstone in packs that you purchase for real money
don't worry you won't get one, they will be sure to give multiple keys to streamers to give out
Go Hearthstone!
i am hoping for a beta invite come Tuesday I'll be glued to my email inbox (it comes to my phone so I'll hear it go off and check it every time i get a new email...yay) and i think that MTG for me personally would be a lot more awesome if it allowed you to simply play MTG with anyone, with any card, from any set, without restrictions, without buying anything, or any gimmicks. I just want to straight up have access to every mtg card ever made, and create as many decks as i want, but sadly even with an official digital format for MTG the last few years, that isn't the case and they opted for more of a pay to play format, and i cant blame them it makes them money, but i just want to build any deck/cards i want, I'd spend hours building decks if i could again, its been awhile since i even played the physical card game.
The cool thing is about hearthstone is that i can spend say 20$ for 20 packs of cards for a month, get my normal "sub" amount for other mmo's i pay for anyways, and get my entertainment value out of it, 20 packs is a lot, and gets a lot of cards, and can go up or down if you want to spend 100's and you have the funds, by all means, but i have to do it in moderation I'm always broke as is lol
I might consider snapping up loot cards from wow TCG or buying boosters/boxes of last set of TCG to add to my mounts/pets/stuff for wow, i've always wanted to do that, but the prices were insane on the after market, 100's of dollars for 1 mount, maybe now is the time to look into trying my luck and pulling some of them from packs.
I just hop they add a duel options so we can face our friends and chat while dueling in HS.
they have a duel option in hearthstone. You simply challenge a person on your buddy list. As long as they are on your friends list you can use the in-game battle.net chat to talk...in fact when it goes fully live i bet you'll be able to chat across games (for instance: You are playing Hearthstone and your friend is playing WoW...you should be able to talk to each other through the chat.)
So EU beta start is at Tuesday too?
It only says a new wave will be sent nothing about the Europeans so far. we are just sitting here and waiting.
Err, I was surprised by this, but I've only recently been getting into the TCG. My question is what will happen to card prices now it's been officially retired - go up or down? With no more cards to change the balance of power, I'd have thought the prices wold even out and stabilise.
If the Timewalkers pack will include all the loot and cards yeah the rarity and the price of the cards (Especially the Loot cards) will increase. As you know it happens on every card game the rarer the card the higher the increase of the price rate!
Hmm cant say i didn't saw that comming. Blizzard is planning to focus clearly on Hearthstone (and i find it really nice). I will still purchase some of the leftover packs in order to earn a loot card but i can say i will miss it. I never played it much (couldn't find people) but it sure will be missed!
P.s Great Firesad chat last night (at the end i kinda fall asleep cause i was tired)
P.S 2 @Fluxflashor fluxie boy dont worry sorry that my typo caused some stress in the stream last night i know u didn't muted me on purpose! :P
Ok, last chance, if i dont get a key tuesday i'll retire before i even start playing.
me too. :(
This seems... dramatic. You'll play eventually.
no surprise.. gogo Hearthstone
Okay, anybody even slightly surprised by this? :P
Nope. We knew the contract with Cryptozoic would be expiring soon, and it only seemed fitting that the WoWTCG would go digital. Much wider audience for it with it being digital, I just hope we get some spectator tools soon ;)
I happen to like MTGO. You get into their multiplayer formats and its quite. Fun. My only complaint is how the developers of Magic are designing new cards...lots of game breakers: Extra turns, infinite draws, turn 2 combos...infinite mana...etc
However, i am with you. I'm lookin for Hearthstone to be a game i can play with my real life friends.
