Hearthstone Beta Key Sweepstakes on Facebook

We hope you’ve been listening to all the buzz about the Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft beta. Have you taken the time to opt-in with your Battle.net account for your chance at a beta key? You should! We’re just getting warmed up with beta invites, and now that the fansites are in on the action, we’ve decided to hold a beta key sweepstakes of our own!

Starting Tuesday, August 20, you can visit the official Hearthstone Facebook page to enter to win a Hearthstone beta key! Entering is simple: Just “Like” Hearthstone on Facebook and sign up for our sweepstakes using the very easy-to-use form. It’s that simple! We’d love for you to help spread the word. Besides, you’ll need more friends to join you in the beta so you can crush—er, show them just how skilled you are at deckbuilding.

The first round of 500 winners will be chosen on Thursday, August 29. The contest entry period will close on Monday, September 2 at midnight PST with a final round of winners selected on Tuesday, September 3.

You must be at least 18 years old to enter. Countries eligible to enter the Hearthstone Facebook sweepstakes are:

  • USA
  • Canada
  • Mexico
  • Brazil
  • Chile
  • Argentina
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Peru

If you don’t hail from one of the above countries, fear not! You can still redeem your beta key on your Battle.net account, and Hearthstone will become available for play as soon as we are ready to test in your region.

Please check out our FAQ if you have any questions regarding our Facebook Sweepstakes.

Enter today for your chance to win and to be a part of Hearthstone history!

*Disclaimer: Hearthstone beta keys are not physical objects, and will not be snail-mailed, flown in by carrier pigeon, or delivered to your door by a Hearthstone team member. Beta keys are not guaranteed to unlock any doors, and we do not suggest inserting a printed beta key code in any door or lock. We are not responsible for any paper jams that may occur from improper beta key use.

Hearthstone Beta Sweepstakes on Facebook FAQ

To help clear up some concerns regarding the recently-announced Hearthstone Beta Key Sweepstakes, we've put together a quick FAQ featuring the most common questions that we expect to see from the community.

Q. Why did you replace the opt-in with a sweepstakes on Facebook?

A. The Hearthstone Beta Key opt-in has not been replaced. The sweepstakes is simply an additional way for us to randomly give out keys to our Facebook followers. We'll still be sending out beta invites to players who have opted-in through the Battle.net sign-up, as normal.

Q. Why Facebook?

A. When we release important news and announcements about Hearthstone, Facebook is among the ways we get the message out. Since a significant portion of Blizzard gamers have Facebook accounts, we'd like to encourage them to follow us so that they can stay up-to-date on the latest Hearthstone news and events.
If you already follow us on Facebook, but seem to miss our posts, be sure to mark any updates from us that you like as a "Top Story." This will increase the chance that Hearthstone-related posts will appear in your Facebook feed. Every news item and story that goes out on our site we also send out on Facebook, so it's a great way to keep up on exclusive Hearthstone news.

Q. Why is my country unable to participate in the sweepstakes?

A. Unfortunately, we are currently only able to launch the beta-testing in North America, but we do hope to begin releasing beta tests to other game regions after the initial beta-test launch. We do not have specifics on this as of yet, but will be sure to keep you updated through announcements.
*Our goal is to eventually have Hearthstone available to all of the same regions supported by World of Warcraft

Q. Do I need a Facebook account to enter this promotion?

A. No. While entering with a Facebook account will provide you with some additional benefits, such as the ability to share news of if you've won with your friends, you don't need an account to participate. If you'd like to enter, but don’t have a Facebook account (and don't want one), you can click on the "Alternate Method of Entry" link at the bottom of the official rules page.

Q. The contest states that Facebook will not be given my personal information. What do you guys need it for?

A. If you're selected as a random winner, we'll need your name and email address to ensure that you receive your beta key. We will not use this information for any other purpose.
As for Facebook application itself, while it will request access to your Friends List, it will not generate any unwanted notifications, messages, or wall posts. The request will simply allow the application to show you your friends list in case you want to let them know about the sweepstakes.

For additional information, please feel free to check out our privacy policy: http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/privacy.html

Q. When exactly will the weekly drawings be held?

A. Drawings will be held on Thursday, August 29th and Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013. We'll gather up all of the entries submitted before 11:59 p.m. each Monday and then randomly select 500 qualified winners from that pool to receive a beta key. Winners from the first drawing will be removed from the second entry pool and the process will repeat again the following Monday. A total of 1,000 winners will be selected among the two drawings.

Please note that if you are randomly selected as a winner, it may take a few days before you are notified and receive your beta key via email. In the meantime, we ask that players please refrain from posting on Facebook or the official forums about whether or not they've been selected.
