I like how Blizz supported the 1 drop quest. The only thing keeping me to say 'It's just a meme' is Toxmonger. If the meta keeps the warlock taunt wall, well...it will be the same story for any kind of hunter strategy.
Nice guide by the way! Hope you can update the list after the expansion drops.
I got bored of HS since MSoG. Ungoro was interesting but this rotation is one of the most oppressive for certain classes, thus leaving the game (like many people has done) and switching to other alternatives if you like the genre is an optimal idea.
Having said that, play wild or try other games like Gwent, TESL:L, Eternal or even Pokemon! Take a break so you can see HS from outside and see if it deserves to be 'saved'.
I agree with you on some points but you must consider that:
If you end with this card on early turns, as a midrange deck you are screwed
You need a board! With proper control, you can counter this card
However, it carries the midrange spirit for some decks, so I hope it doesn't gets overnerfed. In TES:L's expansion HoS, they released a similar card. As you can see, it's way more restricted but I don't think it will work at all in HS because many neutral cards are played in some decks, but it's a start. The power level gets reduced but it's still playable if you place it in a HS context.
If they build spell hunter in a highlander fashion style, it should be great. With no minions it's more than enough to justify some heavy AoE removal, heal and more buffed summoned-minions. But considering how Blizz treats hunter...
Actually this kind of lists can have some potential. The deathrattle package I find it kinda strange. I've beeing doing good with my list. I'm afraid this will be useless if dragon priest and control warlock become meta. They suffer a lot to AoE removal.
I'm enjoy the memes, but the deck really suffers against control warlock and dragon priest. Well, any class that has 3+ dmg removals. Has decent tools against anything else. So, if those 2 decks become meta, then spell hunter will be pushed to a tier 2 or top tier 3 at most. But it's really fun to play. Hope they can build the archetype like they build highlander priest. We hunters spect something more of this.
I would say is the community that plays it. People argues how bad HS has become and suddenly the Blizzard Fan Boys show up to defend the all-mighty company against any 'intolerant' comment towards their games.
Not every game is perfect. But making a constructive dialogue* it can surpass its faults.
*Of course, the dialogue is made when both parts listen (do they?). But it seems they just listen to priests and their trauma: Purify and Pirate Warrior.
Well, considering your clear the board no matter what... There's little risk to lose tempo playing this card. Considering the new 7 hunter spell, it's a complete joke to other classes.
My two cents here. Hunter Hero Power pressures the opponent, but considering the viable decks for hunter there are two situations: 1) you play the tempo game -> can't waste mana to play hero power, mid game you play 2-3 drops with hp; 2) you play hero power on early game -> you have a shitty hand, can't play the tempo, lose board, end game.
Hero Power in used around turn 4-5 unless you have nothing to play, thus losing tempo. DK Alduin is a late game card, but the actual tools make their hero power a OP hunter with viable game ending tools. Give that hunter then the entire community freaks out.
Blizzard is afraid that hunter can become an aggressive control class with the proper tools: board clears (or neat board control) and hand fillers. They solved those problems for druid and priests and turned out to be pretty OP. Hunter can be far superior, they just don't want it. The play with hunter mains with just giving them an incomplete set of tools to play crap :(
I find this card really interesting to work with as it invites to build around a Big archetype. However, if the devs didn't made some early control tools for hunter (or ramp, which is nonsense ofc), then this is just a waste of time in the classic-now-boring mid hunter. The bet is high with this card!
Well, I can't blame Blizzard trying to cover their products against exchange rates but I think they are loosing more money with the abuse against consumers ($$$). Nobody forces you to buy but, HS is so addictive for some people they want to win (and be recognized) so badly it's like raising the price of any drug: they will still buy it no matter what.
Track helps get rid of secrets and other cards at late game if needed. However, track is only useful if you run Kill Command. I share your opinion, Track sucks, but I consider 1 copy is mandatory to seek the stuff you need.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I even got mad at seeing the 2 copies of some cards.
