You're both right, although the 1/16 stat is more applicable to this situation.
This. There's a big issue of "what question are folks asking" here.
//
Anyhow, general formula:
Hit any minion all three times? 1/ (n^2) where n is the number of minions on board. 1/1, 1/4, 1/9, 1/16, etc.
Hit a specific minion all three times? 1/ (n^3). 1/1, 1/8, 1/27, 1/64, etc.

Daulphas posted a message on Rewards Track Client Patch - Updated With Gold Swaps For PacksPosted in: NewsI posted this in another thread as well (mods if it's a prob feel free to remove the post)
First and foremost - all the complainers out there check this article about the rewards track as quoted form Ben Lee:
https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-apologizes-for-hearthstone-rewards-mess-says-changes-are-coming/
Second here is a link to show the XP and time requirements to level upon the new rewards track (though as stated there are still unknown parts yet to come so this is only preliminary):
https://outof.cards/hearthstone/2200-the-rewards-track-how-long-to-get-to-level-50-644000-experience-required-to-get-to-level-150
MY MATH AND NUMBERS MAY BE OFF I AM OPEN TO CORRECTIONS
Here is some of my own Math presuming you ONLY go for level 50 -
It's a 4 month rotation for each Reward track and "SHOULD" be possible to hit level 50.
Levels 6/7/9/11/13/14/16/18/19/21/22/24 = 100gp (total 1200 gp)
Levels 16/28/29/31/32/33/34 = 150gp (total 1050 gp)
Levels 36/37/38/39/40/41/42/43/44 = 200gp (total 1800 gp)
Levels 45/46/47/48/49 = 300 gp (total 1500 gp)
Grand total of GP earned by lvl 50 = 5550 gpNote: every level there after is 150 GP and still creates the same scaling xp need per additional level.
Even taking the lowest GP quest previously at 50gp we see this:50gp * 7 = 350/week
350 * 16 = 5600 gp
So as it sits right now WITHOUT additional leveling or even the 10gp bonus per win we had before, the new ranked rewards are only 50 gp lower than before in a 4 month cycle.
However!!
If we take into account the wins per day for an additional 10 gp – and assuming you ONLY go for the single 10 gp reward of 3 wins. (meaning you only play till you win 3 games that day).
That is an additional 1220 gp in that 4 month time frame. Now the gap between the old system and the new system a total of 1270gp.
That is the equivalent value of another 9 levels (level 59) on the new system
Or another 38,300 xp – Which is another 3 weeks of XP grinding as per outofcards calculations. Now that I have laid out a BASIC idea of what the math looks like – you can decide if it’s adequate or not.
MY MATH AND NUMBERS MAY BE OFF I AM OPEN TO CORRECTIONS

lv426a11 posted a message on The RNG mechanism isn't really Random?Posted in: General DiscussionQuote from OldenGolden >>Boy, people do love the phrase "confirmation bias" on this site, don't they? So much easier than actually considering the possibility that the way "random" is programmed could be something other than true random. The best is when they want you to have documentation on 10000 games played to support your theory, whereas they just throw "confirmation bias" out there for everything without actually looking into anything.
I think it IS ridiculous to get that many Kargaths, and that it very likely has something to do with the way it is programmed. Dunno why people think that's so far-fetched.
The only way to disprove the idea of confirmation bias would be to collect a large enough sample of data to do an analysis on. I'm not going to do that. You're also just throwing out "deliberate programming" without actually looking into it. While I don't have any idea about how Blizzard code their random stuff I suspect it's something as simple as:
1) create database susbset containing all possiblities for the given constraint (i.e. minion costing 4 mana)
2) count the number of entries in that subset
3) generate "random" number within the bounds of the number of entries
4) return the minion selected.
How the system generates the random part is anyones guess and only Blizzard really know, but there are lots of ways to generate random (or psuedo random) numbers. My suspicion is that they've used the easiest because if you were asked to code something like that why wouldn't you do the easiest thing? Sure you could make an arugment that they've biased it to make cool cards occure more often in the hope that people craft/buy them, but again, no one but Blizzard knows.
I've pasted the first paragraph from Wiki on ramdom numbers in case anyone is interested.
Random number generation (RNG) is a process which, through a device, generates a sequence of numbers or symbols that cannot be reasonably predicted better than by a random chance. Random number generators can be true hardware random-number generators (HRNGS), which generate random numbers as a function of current value of some physical environment attribute that is constantly changing in a manner that is practically impossible to model, or pseudo-random number generators (PRNGS), which generate numbers that look random, but are actually deterministic, and can be reproduced if the state of the PRNG is known.

Psy_Kik posted a message on The RNG mechanism isn't really Random?Posted in: General DiscussionJust like the real world, hearthstone is filled with random chaos, but your attention is drawn to moments when stars align, this is what you remember, this is what you focus on, you forget/ignore the rest. People see patterns in random chaos as well, that doesn't mean there are any.
The human brain is shit at dealing with stuff like this, we want to understand and predict events for psychologuical security, but if we have no understanding we invent our own in order to try and grasp the situation and predict outcomes.
Superstition, victim blaming, religion, conspiracies, etc.

lv426a11 posted a message on The RNG mechanism isn't really Random?Posted in: General DiscussionI believe this is called confirmation bias and that, counterintuitively, the odds aren't actually 1 in 10000 but only 1 in 100. I'm not a statistician (but I have studies some stats), but the first event "doesn't count" unless you're already looking for it in advance. The explaination here is that there will be lots of times that the opponent (or you) doesn't get a Kargath, but you don't register and take note of these occurrences because nothing intersting happened. Once you get the first Kargath you're now interested in what the next one is, but because you only took note when you got Kargath you can't count that first event in the probability.
I probably haven't explained that very well - like I said I'm not a statistician.
There was a really interesting article about Paul the psychic octopus (if you remember he was an octopus that predicted world cup scores alledgedly) on the website understanding uncertainty where this phenomenon is explained in more detail than I can understand!

I don't really post here these days but I wondered the same thing. A major Hearthstone story - even on BBC news but not here?
Most recent news item is a card creation competition. Hopefully this site will catch up to the others shortly as this just a content creation lag issue.

All the best to the new owners of Hearthpwn!
Wish you guys luck, and though it feels like the right time for me and many others to move to https://outof.cards/ I have lots of fond memories of this site in the Flux era.
The great thing is from an individual standpoint, you can choose whichever site(s) you feel best provides HS news and community that's right for you.
Take care all :)
