posted a message on Which TGT Cards are musts?

I've won four packs of cards, and have gotten no TGT cards yet....but, I have 2200 Glimmer, so I have that going for me.

So, which common or uncommon or rare cards are must haves right away?   I'm thinking about cards like Piloted Shredder from G&G...

    Thanks for your input!!

why?   what's makes it so good?

It's a 2 mana 3/2 with an upside. Junkbot is a 5 mana 1/5. Is there really an explanation needed?

Not sure I think the Recombobulator upside is all that great.    But, yes, a 3/2 for 2 mana would be better in most cases, but I wanted another 5 drop to fill out my curve.   The upside though was that most people ignored him; but I could Blessing of Might him and make him useful.

posted a message on 12 Win Decklists.

My first time ever getting to 12 wins!  I've gotten 10 or 11 a couple of times, but this is my first time ever getting 12!    Drafted this deck while eating lunch, and I didn't think it was anything special.  But, Blessed Champion on top of Blessing of Kings (or Might) wrecked people unexpectedly!

Anyway, here's the deck list!   Still not sure why I kept winning.  I just got people within range of Blessed Champion, or got lucky enough to get them low, and be able to Consecrate or Hammer of Wrath for the win.

Also, Junkbot was almost worthless in this deck.  But, it was either that or a Mini Mage or Recombobulator.  And, I don't like either of those cards...

Export to BBCode Export to Cockatrice Export to MarkDown Export to Html Clone this deck
    Minion (18) Ability (10) Weapon (2)
    Loading Collection

I only got the screenshot at 11 wins.  I didn't expect the 12 win screen to go by so fast (i've never seen it before).

posted a message on Legendary Tier Crafting Guide

Just returning to the game after an eight month Hiatus.  I've gotten many of the GvG cards, and luckily the only Legendary I did get out of all the packs I've opened has been Dr. Boom.   Is there another Must Have GvG Legendary?

My main question though has to do with the Basic Set.  Since, I have no chance of getting any Basic Set Legendary cards, I am wondering what order you would craft them in (some I don't care so much about), but the following (in no particular order) are ones that I need.    Bloodmage Thalnos, Al-Akir, Tirion Fordring, Nat Pagle, that one Indiana Jones looking card.  (On top of those, I only have one Faceless Manipulator, one of each Druid Ancient, and none of the Cabal Shadow Priest.)

I like to change decks with the Meta..and I'm going to see how far I can get towards Legendary this season to re-teach myself the game and learn all the new mechanics.

But, which one of these things would you craft, FIRST and SECOND.

posted a message on Returning to Game - any advice?

    Thanks for the replies!

@Duronar: I can make a Zoo deck, and with only three days left, I feel I can get to rank 20.   As for GvG, I actually have two Implosions and Dr. Boom is the only Legendary I've gotten so far; I have no idea what Piloted Shredder is, so I'll look that up.  Is there a list of "Core Cards" that i should look at?  And, thanks for pointing me to Tempo Mage, I'll check it out.

@OnyxWarden, Before I left, I was consistently getting six or seven wins per match in Arena, but in the last few days since I started playing again, I've only been getting two or three wins.  I may have forgotten how some of the cards work.  And, I don't know any of the mechanics of the GvG cards.  (I am not sure if they put BRM cards in there yet, so I definitely need to look those up.)   Would you still play Arena?  or, do I have no chance until I learn all the new mechanics of the new cards?  I don't want to waste my time if I'm just going to lose a lot, but I was always more of an Arena player than a Constructed player.

posted a message on Returning to Game - any advice?

Hello!  I am making a return to the game after a hiatus that started in October of last year...  Prior to that I think I reached Rank 5 using a mix of Hunter/Zoo/Shocakdin.   I had almost all the Basic Set, all of Naxx, and since Goblins and Gears came out I think I've played a dozen Arena matches (so I have opened about 12 packs of Goblins and Gears).

If you were me, where would you go from here?  But, the new expansion for $25?  Keep playing Arena until you had more of the Goblins and Gears set?   Both?

In terms of Constructed Decks, are their still competitive decks that can be made from Basic and Naxx cards with a smattering of Mechs?

    Thanks for any input!

posted a message on Rag or Cairne?

Rag fits in so many decks...he's amazingly good.  Luckily, he was my first Legendary, and one of my most used.  I don't get nearly as much value out of any other Legendaries except Leeroy.   I don't have Tirion, so I can't comment on that, but I wish I had him.

Hunter is absolutely broken, the whole class should just be removed by Blizzard.  Next, we work Warlock, then Priest and Paladin.  The only class that shouldn't be removed is Shaman because they just have that sucky Mana Tide Totem to draw cards.

I don't think any card should be nerfed.  However, I only want to know one thing?  What is it about the internet that makes people want to announce that they are leaving a game?  You play or you don't.  The reasons you have for leaving may be completely valid, but what makes you think the rest of us care?   If you have already made up your mind, just leave.   If you are still waffling, start a discussion.  But, don't be a troll.  And people think emoting are bad manners...

posted a message on Do you feel nervous and worried whenever you play hearthsotne?

They try to treat phobias through "exposure treatment" and "systematic desensitization".  I'd suggest that the OP do the same.   Play a lot.  Lose a lot.  Win a lot.

If you look at this game statistically, you see that most decks have less than a 60% win rate.  A lot of them have less than a 55% win rate.  That means that most decks are going to lose almost half the time.  If you play enough games, you are statistically going to LOSE 40-45% (or more) of the time, NO MATTER WHAT DECK YOU PLAY.

So, play a lot, get used to losing.  Or, try playing online poker for a while and reading some poker books.  You'll learn that over time, by making the right play, and trusting the statistics, you can win more than 50% of the time, and over time means that you will come out ahead.  OVER TIME.   Losing is a part of any game.  Learning to lose is part of the game.  Not just by giving up, but losing by making the best plays possible for all the right reasons just means that you are just part of statistics...that by playing correctly you are playing the best way possible, and will statistically come out ahead in the long run.

At least this is true in poker.  In Hearthstone, the statistics and play doesn't translate directly, but the concepts remain the same.

posted a message on Problems on the ipad Mini

I play on my iPad Mini (16GB original release)  and I experience some slow downs, and such, but I just kill the app.  (dbl click the HOME button, and swipe up) after three or four games, and restart the app.

And, while it seems like your wifi is fine, I was having some random disconnect issues, but then I upgraded my router to the new Airport Extreme, and I haven't disconnected since then.  The iPad app seems very sensitive to connection hiccups.  It never recovers even after a momentary disconnect; and I have to kill and restart the app.

Good Luck.  I still play on the iPad.  Even though I occasionally get a crash or disconnect, it's still better to play the game and have it occasionally happen, then not play the game at all.

posted a message on Seeking help with Arena

I noticed that nobody has responded to you yet.  And, though I am by no means an expert I play one or two Arena matches almost every day.  And, I feel like I do pretty well.  Rarely do I not make enough gold to play Arena again.  (which is my goal every time I play)

Anyway, I watched all three of your videos, and I would have made a few different choices than you did during the draft.  Twice you passed on Stormwind Champion the first time taking a Polymorph and the second taking an Earthen Ring Farseer.  Both cards you picked were good cards, but you had nothing in your 6 mana slot yet.   You talked about your mana curve, but you only referenced it when you were trying to decide between cards.  I really feel that filling the mana curve should be considered as important as picking good cards.   You don't like Ancient Brewmaster, but I like a 5/4 for four mana, and I definitely would have drafted it early instead of the Mirror Image.  Also, I'd have chosen the Cleric over the Ghoul, and the Twilight Drake over the Demolisher.  The Drake may possibly evd up as a 4/1, but you can control that.  And, even if it's a 4/1 your opponent has to trade for it or remove it.  The Demolisher basically soaks up a removal or an attack, but it doesn't trade for a minion; it's not a "must remove immediately" that the Drake is.     The Cleric over the Ghoul, I just think Cleric is a better all around card.  It strengthens a creature right away and adds a defense point.  The Ghoul is good, but there are so many two drops that can trade up to it, that it doesn't seem as strong.  Especially if it's your only three drop on the third turn.

The only other thing I noticed is that between the Mirror Image and the Deathlord on turn 20, you picked up no taunts.  (I believe that you had turned down to Fen Creepers by then.)  I hope to get 4 to 6 taunt minions when I draft.  I was worried that you would get over run before I even saw your game.  And, the last thing that I noticed (and this one is not a big deal) is that there was a chance to pick a second Faeire Dragon and you picked something else (that wasn't a bad pick) but you said something like, I already have a Faeire Dragon.   I just wanted to say is that there is nothing wrong with having two of them.

As for your game play...you got a horrible draw.  Then, you mulligan'd into a horrible draw.   But, you kept the Polymorph.  Would you ever really want to polymorph something on the fourth turn?   I might if I already had minions on the board and wanted to maintain board control, but otherwise, I think of it more as a late game card for a really fat minion like an Ironbark Protector or a Legendary.   I'd have mulligan'd that one away too hoping to get some of my 1 or 2 drops.  On Turn 2, you had the coin and a Mirror Entity, but no minions, and they already had one on the board.  If you play it then, you know you can at least remove their second minion when they play it.  I can see why you wanted to keep the coin for one of your four drops the next turn...but you were already behind and ended up holding that mirror entity until it was too late to help.   When behind, the first thing I think of is how do I catchup...holding cards never works. And, the worst mistake that I think you made was fireblasting the Webspinner when he had a Cult Master out.  You just gave him two cards for a beast that only does one point of damage.  You could have Flamestrike'd then and taken out all three creatures, saving him that extra card draw and saving yourself 5 points of damage on the next turn.  Granted he was able to play even more minions the next turn that you sucessfully Flamestrike'd away.  But you were down 5 more life at that point.

I think that you drafted fairly well.  And, you played pretty well considering the bad draw.  But, there are a couple of key points that you may want to consider in the future.  Like making sure you draft some fatties for the late game, even if it's early.  Having enough early drops so that you don't lose board control right away.  And, having enough taunt minions (or similar mechanism...Flamestrike is one of these, but it's a very late game card)  to allow yourself the ability to catch up or maintain control if you already have it.

I hope my reply wasn't too rambling, and that you find it helpful in some way.
