Thanks for all the comments, I really appreciate them. Some of the interweb trolls showed their teeth, but overall, genuine feedback, which is really appreciated! So, I guess I hadn't thought about new players. Standard definitely makes more sense for them. Also, the Sea Witch combo in wild is pretty annoying (which I still don't understand why it was reverted), so I can understand that. The bottom line for me is that in standard, at decent ranks - and lately, any rank - people play the same few decks. I guess in the end it can be chalked up to personal preference. I would rather hit some annoying mill/reno decks as opposed to playing against similar opponents every game, but I can understand how people would feel the other way.

posted a message on Genuine question: Why play standard?

So let me start by saying, I've been playing Hearthstone since the first few months of its release and love the game. I've gotten countless 12 wins in arena and as far as rank 1 in ranked play. I have played a ton, but have a serious question at this point in the game:

Why play the standard format? I'm not trolling, I'm looking actual reasons why people play the standard format over Wild or Arena. I've played around 50 standard games since the expansion and I probably won't play too many more. It's at a point in hearthstone where, each expansion, everyone gravitates to one of 3-4 decks. In the recent past it's been Razakus, Big priest, Jade druid, to now with cube lock and paladin. So far I feel like 80-90% have been one of those two things - cube lock or even/odd paladin. How is this preferable to playing in wild where there are many more solid decks that you can hit high ranks with? Or arena, where you can have a different experience every draft? Why do people stick to a format where, generally, only 3-5 decks are mainly played?

Again, I'm really looking for honest answers to why people are playing that format. I'd like to enjoy standard, but I just don't see the draw over the other two formats where there is much more diversity.

Anyone else want to see golden cards usable in arena?

I'm one of those (hopefully not few) players who enjoys collecting and crafting golden cards, but likes to spent 50ish% of my time doing arena. However, I feel like having those golden cards are all worthless in arena. I have two ideas for this:

1.) Have a selectable button at the end of constructing an arena deck for "play golden cards" where Hearthstone checks your collection and swaps any cards in your newly constructed arena deck with their golden version IF you have that golden card in your collection.

2.) Have the "play golden cards" button selectable at the beginning of the run so that as the 3 cards appear, you can see which of them you have the golden version of.

If I'm the only one curious about this, I'll lay it to rest, but there has to be other people that both collect the golden cards and play a lot of arena.
