Zoo is tier 1. Lost nothing and some of its bad matchups have improved greatly. Priest has lots a lot of their board clears and game stalls. Hunter lost too much tempo (mad scientist) and burst to keep up with zoo. Freeze mage is still a bad matchup but the warriors always keep them in check. Zoo is the best ladder deck right now.
Blizz needs to fully realize the ability and name it deathtouch as well as adding hexproof (or another variant) for the 'cannot be targeted by spells or hero powers' mechanic. Arguably, it's easier to learn what deathtouch and hexproof mean than reading walls of text on minions. If players can learn deathrattle and windfurry they can learn deathtouch and hexproof.
I've played two rogue decks since WoG release. One a deathrattle rogue and another Leeroy/Xaril rogue. Xaril is a great card in both. I had the most success with deathrattle rogue though and more fun but both decks lose to shaman and zoo and have few favorable matchups. They're best deck is tier 2 maybe tier 3.
A lot of people predicted an aggro shaman meta. A quick look at the cards they're receiving and a rudimentary understanding of the game could give anyone a hint that this class is going to be good.
Would take out disipline, ice lance, demented, C'thun, blood mage, thaurrissan.
And add antonidas, water elemental, faceless summoner, rhonin, yogg saron, ans ethernal conjurer.
There was a variation which played Antonidas and I'm not sure what happened to it. He should probably be in the deck. I wouldn't cut ice lance though as it's a great spell which works well in the deck with demented frostcaller. Adding in frostcaller and C'thun allows the deck to play out like a midrange deck being able to go aggro or control depending on the draw. C'thun isn't a finisher. Most likely he's there to clear board. Faceless would server no purpose in the deck and costs too much. I'm curious why you made that suggestion. Rhonin is too slow, water ele has no impact the turn it's played and doesn't synergize with spells or the deck. I like conjurer but won't be able to make room for him now but maybe after I've played the deck.
If anyone wasn't sure about what to play first give this deck a try. It's a C'thun deck but doesn't depend on using C'thun as a finisher. Instead it focuses on spell synergy with Flamewaker, Cult Sorcerer, and demented frostcaller. It's not a revolutionary deck. It's mostly just tempo mage but I think it will be pretty good as it will play much faster than the control C'thun decks.
One of the cards I'm unsure of is Demented Frostcaller. Opinions on this card are mixed with a lot of players and I'm pretty uncertain about it as well. At first glance it's a flamewaker with worse stats that only freezes but freeze can be a huge tempo play and it adds a free effect onto all of your spells, so it's like having +spellpower in a way.
By far my favorite card is Cult Sorcerer. This is the reason I built the deck and everything I added had this card in mind. The stats are great, and the fact that it gives spellpower and + C'thun damage is like giving it +2 spellpower if you play C'thun. It's my favorite card from the set.
If you looking to play a mage deck at release try this one out and post your comments here so we can try and make it better.
Doomsayer with conceal used to be a thing and Rogue's lack of aoe and deathrattles rotating out will make the combo better. For healing we have 2x refreshment vendor and Cult Apothecary. I think apothecary will work because of how often we'll be falling behind on board. It's also something we can combo with vanish and prep. Shadowcaster is an interesting card with a decent body and a powerful battlecry. Ideally, we'll use it on brann and draw 20 cards with it.
Overall I don't think the deck is very good. Blizzard has shown no support for mill which may be because of how often it's complained about or they simply don't like the archetype for HS. The usual weakness of mill - aggro decks - remains the same but other than that the deck lacks card draw. For a combo deck there aren't enough options to draw cards, mill our opponent, and survive. We have next to no board presence at any time in the game and are completely dependent on drawing coldlight oracle in the top half of our deck to have any chance. Our finisher is also our draw engine and if we're too low in health can become unplayable.
Secrets are trash. Don't play them. The only decent one is counterspell and it's horrible 1/2 the games you play it because of the coin. Unless you have a VERY specific reason (freeze mage) for adding them avoid them. They're a huge tempo loss and a noob trap. Too slow. Too easy to play around. Cost too much and do too little. Mage have a lot of new cards to play with and none of them work with secrets.
How can they release a mediocre expansion and then give one class some of the most powerful cards released? Of course it will be broken. Everyone can tell by looking at this card that it's too good.

Heroic should be hard.

Try it out. It doesn't matter what others are doing. Maybe you could discover a new broken deck. :D

I'll try both out and play in the one with the best meta. I think wild will become stale and will change very little.

It's happening all over again.

Wild will be fun. Two metas to play in. More cards. More decks. Standard might have a terrible meta. Imagine a control priest meta.
