posted a message on Albatross too strong?

When a Card sees a ton of Play in wild - then it is probably among the strongest of Cards. That is true for Albatross without the shadow of a doubt. The card has a deck winrate and played winrate of 59% in wild and is among the top 20 Cards played there Right now.

In Standard the numbers for this card are not so much different - 58%. And OP is Right: The popularity of this Card makes certain decks Pretty much unplayable.

Now does this mean it should be nerfed? People are Right in calling it a tech-card. My guess is that the Card is WAY too universally strong for a tech Card. I am guessing that it outperformes most other tech Cards in Terms of winrate. A tech Card should be somethign that you put into your deck to counter specific strategys, not to be just a superstar-Card no matter what. I'll go check some other tech Cards now...

Ok lol. The next best tech card in Terms of winrate is sacrificial pact. And that one is WAAAAAAAAAY more narrow. Looking at the numbers for Albatross is actually pretty ridiculous… The guy has a higer deck and even PLAYED winrate than Zephrys the Great.

Albatross should probably just be a 3/3 to make it more of a sacrifice to run the card in your deck.

posted a message on New rank system: ‘bad’ players will reach legend just as easy/hard as ‘good’ players.
    Quote from SlydE >>

Even with the old system, it was possible to climb from rank 5 to legend with a 48% winrate if you played enough games.

The new system makes it easier to reach legend, but not because of the MMR based matchmaking.
-There are more rank floors, which effectively discount more losses while climbing.
-You need less stars from after the winstreak bonus stars are gone.
-High legend players keep their bonus stars all the way up to their finish the previous season. They can still have bonus stars at legend!

Another burning question is if tanking your MMR to makie climbing the ranks easier. Blizzard has stated this does NOT help, but as long as you recover your MMR once you reach your goal, there should not be a problem. Next season also gives you bonus stars based on MMR OR rank, whichever is higher.

How was it possible in the old System to reach legend with a 48% winrate? I don't get it...

matchmaking is only based on MMR until your star Bonus reaches Zero. Thn matchmaking will be done by rank. There was a clarification About this

posted a message on I miss when we used to battle for the board....

Back during Frozen Throne the Meta was very Mid-Range-heavy with Keleseth, Scalebane, Chaingang & Bonemare kind of Decks. u also had Spiteful Summoner Decks that ran very Little Spells. The Game was very board-oriented at that time as far as i remember - clear their stuff before the bonemare-turn, keep removal for spiteful Summoner etc.

The Witchwood-Meta was also very board-centric with the odd and even Stuff. Odd-Rogue is a deck that wins by getting the board and making favorable trades early on.

Now i understand that your point is also about a meta where making trades mattered a lot. I would argue that any meta that is very agressive is one where trades tend to become interesting. Agro mirros are a lot about board control. It is rarely two guys blindly going face and ignoring everything else... Pirate Warrior mirrors from back in the day for example - go watch a pro game from that time. these guys traded back and forth like crazy to get the board. Actually getting a value-trade won a lot of these games.

i think divine spirit is more likely than inner fire. Innerfire can be interchanged with crazed Alchemist for example

Sick meta defining card my dudes, sure did a whole lot of nothing against Galakrond warrior and Pirate warrior

Hearthpwn are literally worthless at rating cards as usual.

It's a card that has fundamental strength. It will see Play at some Point in wild as a tech Card - 100%

posted a message on Upcoming Adventure Speculation

Well storywise it would make sense to say the least. The bad guys summon galakrond to kick some ass adn then the good guys respond in Kind by summoning… who?! That is the tough one really. I'm not big on WoW-lore but galakrond is probably on a different powerlevel than most other stuff we have seen so far.

It might be that they bring back the 4 old old gods as hero-cards in order to fight against galakrond - but that would be a bit of a waste for just one Adventure. I fell like they could theme a whole year around the old gods if they wanted to...

    Welcome to the game dude.

A simple advise i can give, is try to go for aggro deck in the beginning, as they often are the cheapest. (Aim for aggro hunter, mech hunter or maybe mech paladin).

also a welcome to the game from me as well! Good to see, that people still start playing the game! I disagree with the advice of building mech decks though. While they are very cheap and also very strong decks - the most powerful mech cards will leave standard only 3 months from now!!

As was said before: there are strong hunter builds that are not very expensive (mid-range hunter might even be cheaper than agro hunter) and zoo-warlock builds that are cheap & strong.

posted a message on DoD Power creep (surge?) = higher hero health

first up: I think the better answer is to do what they have always done: nerf cards that are too strong and then you are fine with 30 hp. Corridor Creeper for example was a card that was making 30 health be not enough back when it was a 5/5.

That is a better solution in my opinion since cards like malygos, leeroy, pyroblast, etc are all designed around 30 health. I think your change would heavily push the game into a mid-range-only direction, where 80% of games are decided by who has board control... Unless you also change a ton of other cards along the way.

That beeing said. The idea is still kind of interesting. Maybe just as a 4 week event or something. I just think 40 is a complete overkill. If they did 32, the game would still shift a lot without outright killing certain cards and strategys.

posted a message on Is it time to revert nerfed Wild cards?

Very good idea!! I would love it for a lot of cards! (maybe not corridor creeper ^^). You have my full support! "I'm in charge now!!!!!" (probably also not a good idea to revert that guy, but i would love it for some cards - also a very easy way to shake up the wild meta a bit)

posted a message on How is it possible?

@OP: i personally behave like that as well. I build my decks around specific cards and i enjoy playing them whether i lost or won. I'll drop my C'Thun without affecting the outcome of the game whether it's a 100% loss or a 100% win either way - just for the fun of it. I feel like that's legit. How often do you really get to pull of your 4 times invokes galakrond? Would you hold back on it just because you have lethal? You are one robot of a man...

posted a message on Metas, complaints, and solutions

a good meta is one where you can change your deck so that you have better odds against a certain deck. So lets say you play deck A and you want to be better against deck B. The answer should be to tech in specific cards - the answer should not be: go play deck C. If teh answer is go play dekc C, the game is not really enjoyable for folks who don't own a ton of cards. You can craft card, but you can rarely craft a new deck.

in short: polarisation should be 70-30 maximum and there should be a lot of tech cards. I don't care too much about archetypes. Agro mirrors are often very decision-heavy for example. It's fun as well!

Cards like shudderwock are fine in the game as long as there are cards like dirty rat, that you can use to try and beat them. Loatheb is also an amazing card - these kind of cards contribute a lot to the health of a meta.

That beeing said - i feel like the game is fun pretty much 80%of the time (right now its cool).
Shaman metas tend to be less enjoyable because shaman is by design good at everything which makes it harder to target them. Same used to be true for druid at one point...

posted a message on How would be your life without Hearthstone???

It's a very cool game. I played a lot of MTG back in the day and hearthstone is just as awesome. I enjoy playing this game when i got some time to relax and i couldn't play anything where the rounds are too long because i have a family. Without hearthstone, i think i would miss something. It's nice to ponder deck builds while chopping some wood outside or stuff like that.
