I agree doomhammer is not just for aggro, it is important in many decks and i am very glad it remains intact. and although I sometimes use aggro shaman to grind a few ranks on ladder, i like control decks much much more.
My point was that aggro decks lost a few staples such as jugglers, leper gnomes (which has been nerfed perfectly imo) and the creepers. But they were not staples in aggro shaman. I personally had 1 leper, which is easily replaced, and ran flame jugglers instead of knife jugglers because they give early board control which you need the first 4 turns to deal the first 10-15 damage. then the spells and doomhammer finish your opponent very quickly.
So aggro shaman is still very viable, and the other aggro classes were nerfed harder but they were not higher on the tier list. Well, zoolock was, and probably is still in standard. My remark of 'one deck to rule them all' basically pointed out that we will see one aggro deck, shaman. and that will become annoying. if blizz tried their best to slow the meta down, and they failed then we are facing a terrible meta im afraid.
But like many wise people said, we still got many cards to be released, so we will see. Lets pray to the old gods that they bring some early control options to fight it of. cause i am quite good with aggro shaman and it is very powerful in the right with a little experience. it certainly is not as mediocre as some people suggest in this tread and belchers were the main problem i faced, so...
watch kripparrian on youtube mate. he has tons of clips that are mostly about arena. he explains endlessly how arena is a tempo oriented game.
for people that arent experts (myself included) it depends on 3 things basically:
1 your class: rogue, mage and pally are just the best for arena. they have impact full hero powers and early game cards that help with gaining tempo. mage of course has the best spells which helps them a lot. ( I personally hate paladin. i can never quite get it to work, and i love druid. for some reason it brings me good games)
2 your tempo: you need a good first 3 turns. this is better than having 2 legendaries in your deck most of the time. you could aim for 3 1-mana drops, 8 2-mana drops and 5 3-mana drops in your deck. this ensures you having a good first couple of turns most of the time, and leaves you with half a deck of good spells, a few 4-drops and a few late game minions. whenever you catch a good AoE spell in your draft, take it. if your early game sucks this is the only way to turn things completely around, most of the time. the first 6 turns its all about gaining board control. if you manage to get a few value trades and keep the board your opponent will get to the point where he runs out of good choices and thats when you secure the win and start to go face.
3 a bit of luck: kripp says whenever you have a great deck it can take you to 8 wins. beyond that, you are lucky with your match-ups and your cards in hand. you can also get really unlucky of course and go 0-3. shit happens
my advice is to just watch a few of his clips. he is a joy to watch and very instructive. and practice. dont expect to become a 7-win average overnight. you just have to make your way to the top over time. When i started i could also hardly break beyond 3-wins although things went my way a few times. then i played constructed for a while and watched a lot of kripps clips because i like him. a month ago i went back to arena (bored with constructed) and now i am over 5-wins average and im sure his tips and tricks have something to with it.
ps. people say that many players that arent serious have taken a break from HS since it has become a bit boring waiting for WoG. as a consequence arena has become more difficult with most players beyond 3-4 wins that either know what they are doing or have great decks, so dont be too hard on yourself
Its ok, but im not sure if the 4/2 has any significance after it emerges on turn 6 and cant be played before turn 7. by that time anything on board can easily handle it or a small AoE will do the job just fine
But the weapon itself is already poweful. i hated it when you had to hit a minion twice with doomhammer (which is probably, but not hopefully, getting nerfed into oblivion). In a control game you will use your weapon on minions and after 5 mana minions often need more than 2 damage to die. The times i have SMOrced my own face with doomhammer...
given the excellent other cards shaman has received already i think we cannot complain about this card
when standard is introduced (on the day WoG starts as far as i know) some cards will get nerfed (or buffed) which gives those cards better dust values. after day 1 this is supposed to be possible for a week or 2 as i understand.
my question is: if you unpack a nerfed card after it has been nerfed but within that 2 week period, do you still get the additional dust?
the reason i ask is ive saved up a lotta gold for WoG packs and i think i will be spending some of it on classic packs but im not sure how many yet. can i wait till after the release of WoG to decide or should i get my classic packs before that?
WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED TO LEGENDARY CARDS BEING VERY GOOD?!? I guess this is what we get when they avoid staple cards, reprints of underwhelming cards that are still underwhelming
rogue isnt the worst class, it just shines in a place that isnt called constructed. if you add heal to rogue they will become unstoppable in arena. if you shift it to control that would be okay, it slows down the arena rogues but really, there is nothing wrong with rogue. it has amazing decks filled with insane combo's in constructed (i dont mean combo as the card text but the OTK combo) but its not top tier and its a good class in arena, id say the number 2 after mage. rogue slaughters pally in arena and since there is a meta in arena dominated by mage pally and rogue id say picking rogue above anything other than mage is your best bet
just accept that not every card, class or archetype is meant to fit everybodies needs. if rogue is pushed too far up it will become an OP class again.
Making your opponent discover something during your turn? Will never happen.
i think so too, it is obvious this means your turn is over if your opponent can discover on your turn. it could have the mechanic that the discovery starts their turn but i find that very doubtful. might be cool for mill rogue though

One deck to rule them all!!!
so aggro shaman was already faster than face hunter, aggro paladin and zoolock.
with only Crackle rotating out of standard and Earth Shock and Doomhammer intact, what is there to stand in its way????
it certainly wont be all those 10-mana drops. and with our favorite Sludge Belcher and his brethren gone it will be a feast for aggro shaman.
anyone disagree?
