posted a message on Did GvG even help out Priests?

Voljin should sit in your hand for a while. It's intended as a counter. Same with Shrinkmeister. The cards added have enhanced Priests ability to steal or counter larger minions.

This doesn't help with Aggro decks. (Though they included neutrals that help with that)

If you are looking for Legendary than your options are limited. If you are looking to make a decent, fun deck, then GVG gave plenty of options for most classes.

As soon as it hits the board the -3 casting cost is gone.

Really? Well that doesn't make much sense. If that's the case then never mind my comment.

I've been playing a rogue lately.  Running 2 saps makes Unstable Portal my favorite card to see.  Tempo loss out the butt except for a rare awesome battle cry effect.

This sounds counterproductive. Sap is always good for pulling back tempo, but when the creature has -3 casting cost you are hurting them much less than it would be without Unstable Portal. And you would probably have to use it a few turns earlier than you would normally.

I don't know what you can do to "rework it." It's honestly the best built class. I don't mean in strength. There are so many different kinds of synergy. The nerfs make sense because it's unfair. But I think this set was in the right direction of building up other synergy options for other decks. IE Demons for Warlock, and Murlocs for Shaman. Or mechs for anyone. They just didn't go quite far enough with them.

I was getting Wisp once I played the portal ... You just want to give up the match after this ...

The same happen to me : I know how sad it is.... When I played my Wisp, I was thinking what minion could be worse and couldn't find an answer....

Until the next turn ^^ I drew my second Unstable Portal and got a Dust Devil -_-"

Hey now. That Dust Devil was an upgrade from the wisp!

posted a message on Advice on trading minions

Deck specific as in, What is your deck built to do. Aggro, or control? Are you just stalling to get bigger minions out? If so then you might want to prioritize removal. If you are playing aggro, you might want to go face. That's why hunter almost always hits face.

With class info, definitely both crocks in first example. Mage has too many spells to take out your guys and keep board control.

I'd take out the Magi in the second situation. Same reason. I would assume he doesn't have Polymorph if he hasn't used it yet. But he might have hoped to use the +1 spell damage for a fireball kill on him.

Not enough info. Classes matter. If you are priest, then attack with a minion that will live and heal him. If your opponent is Priest then you need to kill all minions. If you're Hunter... Probably hit to face.

    It's entirely deck/class specific.

Deathrattle: Shuffle this minion into your deck.

Add a random minion to your hand. It costs (3) less.

You might be right. It might reset on death and then shuffle. But it's Hearthstone, so there is no such thing as phases and general rules.

Just pulled him from Unstable Portal yesterday. Making him a permanent 4 is pretty powerful if you manage to redraw him after death.

I can definitely relate to the OP's frustration but I also don't feel it will be nerfed any time soon.

The thing with Unstable Portal is there are far more decent draws than bad. Hell, there's more extremely good/broken draws than bad. You have to have pretty bad luck to get a bad draw with it. Of course, most people that play it enough will see a bad card every once in a while. Hell, I've seen a bad card a few times and I barely play mage. However, you're much more likely to see decent or good cards.

The list of bad draws, (IMO):

That's pretty much it. Captain's Parrot is just terrible but in arena, it can still be useful. Alarm-o-bot is equally terrible but given perfect conditions can be good. Lastly Starving Buzzard is terrible but even then, it just makes it a vanilla 2 mana 3/2 and in arenas, it's still possibly to gain card draw. So, even these completely terrible cards still aren't even that bad, they're just not going to be as useful as just about any other draw.

So, these cards along with the 0-1 cost minions make up about 15% of the minion pool, meaning that every time you cast Unstable Portal, there's approx an 85% chance that you'll get something that isn't atrocious. Now I'm not suggesting that every other card is going to be amazing, but every other card with the discounted cost is going to end up being pretty decent and many of the times, will be outright overpowered.

Alarm-o-Bot actually has a really good chance of being good from Unstable portal. Turn 2 has a decent chance of surviving... And it stays 0 cost. So you can keep replaying it over and over again for free. That's actually pretty amazing. You do need to find a way to sneak him in obviously, but if that'ts one of your 3 worst possibilities... That ain't bad.

If druid had more card draw It would be solid. You could focus less on high cost minions to do better in the first 5 or 6 turns. But if you get him out, and he's killed, you probably won't see him again.

"This version includes Unstable Portal, largely at the urging of my stream’s chat. I played with it a bunch, but didn’t really like it, even though it probably gave me far better than expected returns on average. The big problem with it in a deck like this is that you really want to spend your early turns either developing your own board or responding to your opponent, and casting Unstable Portal doesn’t reliably allow you to do either of those things. It can certainly be very powerful, and perhaps overtly game-winningly so given its effect, but it’s not really a card that I was happy using myself."

He doesn't say it isn't OP. He says it might be. He even tried it in the deck when he wanted synergy. I would agree it's not great for a mech deck.

The part that is harder to dispute for fairness though is its effect on Arena. This card has insane value without any synergy. That's where it is the most over powered.

It's been said in the forums several times that Blizzard nerfs based on how often it's used. I'd guess its ability to end a game would also be a factor. Which would explain power word;Shield (which I say is the best card in the game,) not being changed.

I think it comes down to it's lack of purpose. It doesn't have a synergy with anything. (Aside from just being a spell.) It's just strong. The odds aren't anywhere near balancing out. I'm not cherrypicking. From my experience it's too much.

"Used in 44.89% of Mage decks"

This will be nerfed. As it should be. It's becoming auto-include. It's a free spell for Mana Wyrm and it is far more likely to be helpful than bad. Dropping it to 2 off or removing legendaries would probably do it.
