For the possibilities you listed I count 3 good, 3 okay, and 4 bad outcomes.
Ifyou even get to Adapt, you have an decent chance of discovering at least 1 good option, a very good chance of discovering at least 1 okay (or better) option, and a slight chance at discovering only abysmal options.
Conclusion, it's an okay card whose value is mostly it's ability to adapt (heh...) to your current needs in a game. Doesn't seem like it'll see much play outside of arena, as constructed decks will just bring the 2 drop that they'll most consistently need.
So, what you're saying is that a card that costs 5, is more powerful than a card that costs 4. And a card that costs 6 is just as big of a power gap between that 5 card as that 5 card is to a 4 card? So, what's the problem?
The problem is you're making a comparison of 4 drops and not properly accounting for the cost difference of overload into it.
Yeah this is kind of the flaw in OP's argument. Its like saying its okay for a vanilla 5 mana card is better than a vanilla 4 mana card. But its not okay that a vanilla 6 mana card is waaaayyy better than a 4 mana card!
If OP were to mention how much easier it is to unlock those Overloaded mana crystals these days, I think the argument would have been a little more sound.
My first thought was "well this will get removed instantly" by BGH or whatever other removal your opponent has. But then I thought maybe not. Chances are your opponent is saving any good removal (Poly, Hex, SW:D) for fear of C'thun. So maybe this won't actually just get removed immediately every time it's played. If it does force your opponent to trade into it rather than remove it outright, that's not so bad I guess.
I say go the other way. The sky is the limit! Since HS isn't bounded by Warcraft lore, then start adding cards related to Starcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch.
Nova the rogue legendary. Diablo the warlock legendary. Tyrael the paladin legendary.
All make as much lore sense as Ragnaros, Lightlord....
PSA: Ben Brode has confirmed that this is, in fact, a real card and therefore not an April Fools joke. He's actually gotten quite defensive of the card. See for yourself:
So make a deck full of neutral minions with a few Warlock cards, mulligan hard for Renounce Darkness, play the rest of the game with a 1-turn Thaurissan'd deck. Doubtful it'll be competitive but we'll see.
Edit: well nevermind. After re-reading the text on the card, I believe only the replaced cards get a discount. No way this will be competitive, will it?

Could be good against aggro decks that vomit their hands early without much reload. Then you'd only discount 1-2 minions and hope to brawl them away.
This seems like a card that is hard to evaluate without knowing how the KOFT meta will shake out.

Team 5, we need to have a talk about trying to make Discard Warlock happen.

The art on this card is the Fossil Slowpoke of Hearthstone.

Most excited for Devolve. I would love to play control shaman decks!

Damn, this is savage(ry). I hope the whole Hearthstone development team has been airlifted to the burn center.

A 3 mana arcane explosion that puts a 2/2 body on the board. Granted, arcane explosion isn't playable.... But this could be good.

Could be good with warlock? They have so many cards with negative battlecry effects.
