I've been away from Standard since the release of Battlegrounds and recently got back in to climbing the ladder. I started with a Control Priest and blew through the Bronze ranks with about a 90% win rate. I figured now that I have hit Silver I could try to climb through Silver with a different deck to start learning the other classes again.
Mage is probably my most played class with Rogue as the least played. The most unique deck I've played against has been Bomb warrior and I didnt see a lot of Shamen, Hunter, or Paladin.
What recommendation do you have for a fun deck that will be able to climb silver?
Daring Reporter was fun in a pre-ungoro mill druid, but with Brann gone haven't found a place for it yet...
Actually I just played a game against a similar card, Questing Adventurer with my Secret Mage. After playing two Sorcerer's Apprentice and Glyphing out a few spells for a very cheap cost he got beefy real quick.
How often is he played? Could fit in nicely with a Lyra Miracle Priest.
Hey guys, I've been playing Secret Mage this season and the more you play a deck the more you understand how to play it against the meta. What are your favorite Secret Mage moments or decks to play against?
For me personally, it is playing Mirror Entity turn 5 against a Hunter and stealing his Highmane almost every time.
Anyone else has a favorite moment with Mirror Entity or another secret? I'd be happy to keep this list updated for tips!
Fun decks for me are definitely the "miracle" combo decks, just due to the fact that when they do get pulled off they tend to be awesome. Using Lyra to cycle tons of spells is incredibly fun. Even a silence priest is fun in my opinion just because you can push out a huge minion that can OTK.
Just wanted to share that over the past few seasons I have been climbing to around rank 6-7 and I use a variety of decks ranging from Control Pally to Dragon Priest to Midrange Hunter. While all of these are fine and dandy to climb, I think it is important to learn how to stay away from net-deck recommendations and get a better understanding of deck building on your own.
I have made decks before that end up being very similar to popular decks on the net just because of how the meta works, but I think this time I want to do something that is really unheard of and make it work. Are there any cards out there that anyone wants to see more play but just doesn't have a place yet?
I get this all the time and have been getting it for the past few years. It is known as the Mac Rainbow Glitch or something of that nature. Blizzard has been aware of this and has a sticky on their forums about it, but nothing has been done for a few years. It really is a shame to auto-lose multiple games due to something entirely out of our control as Mac users.
My only suggestion is to close out Hearthstone every so many games and start it back up, this issue seems to happen to me when I play for times exceeding an hour at a time.
I rarely ever have to play Yogg, but if the game does go that long it can save you: I don't even own Pyros. I would recommend crafting Pyros if you are an avid mage player, but if you want versatility craft Yogg.
I replaced my Pyros with a Babbling Book or Tar Creeper depending on the meta.
I'm going to try and climb with a Dragon Priest deck but with this meta so fast right now it may be difficult. Most matches I am running into in the early climb are unfavored for me and I seem to be going backward. May have to switch it up for the climb, or should I stick the deck out and learn with it?
I like that and will probably give it a try today. I am already finding great success with the deck, to begin with and am back down to Rank 7, 2 Stars.
I've been playing Dragon Priest for the past few days and I am only running one Primordial Drake due to the fact that I only own one. Despite only owning one copy, I still believe that with the current meta 2 is too slow right now. I face mainly aggro and faster mid-range decks around ranks 7 through 10.
I have tried swapping out for Ysera and have had many games where this has helped, but wasn't a win condition: once again too slow.
Holy Nova gives you the same 2 damage effect without the 4/8 Taunt on the board and for 5 mana is a quicker clear for the aggro decks with a healing bonus.

Yes! Playing against a Mage and being able to accurately work around what secrets he has is definitely a must know when not playing the class!

If your can Kabal Lackey and then play Counterspell Turn 1 you have a chance of countering The Caverns Below, although they can coin to check for Counterspell. It is safer to save it until they complete the quest in hopes of countering Crystal Core

I HATE HEROIC MEDIVH
Edit:
I officially love this thread... you felt my pain and answered. The next game I play I win with a 103 C'thun. <3

Spent the past two days searching for a solution, this deck was definitely it. Thank you so much!

Lyra in my opinion: completely due to the fact that the Dragon Priest that I run only runs spells that benefit my Inner Fire combo.
