I think it is most definitely secrets. They have been pushing the secret thing for a long time, and all of the other classes have the class legendaries for one deck(kalimos w/ elemental shaman) and the quest for another deck(unite the murlocs shaman). So this would make sense because pyros is for elemental mage and *insert mage quest here* would be for a secret mage.
You know, I've been thinking about this and what if, hear me out here, what if they're revealing the better cards first? This expansion seems too good to be true with every card revealed so far being playable at the least (arena or not). Every expansion before has had trash filler cards, why shouldn't this one? My guess is card quality will steadily drop as we approach release, most likely with a large card spam revealing all the lower quality ones at once. Seems like a smart business model for people prepurchasing the expansion.
But then again, a man can dream. Maybe this expansion will truly be of a special quality.
Sincerely, a pessimistic player?
I wanted to add though, I'm still really hyped to play most of the cards revealed so far.
Well yea, of course there's going to be pack filler. It'd be impossible for you to get 135 unique and original cards in only 4 months while at the same time still having balance. Just what I think we have to wish for is no more stupid and broken 1 drops, but hunter might be getting that, however to be fair i'd rather have a face hunter meta than a pirate warrior meta. And even then if face hunter gets tier 1, there are so many new anti-aggro cards that the deck will be a slower face deck. Overall even if they do fuck up with hunter, I think the game is still going to slow down.
ahm... you do know they have every expansion made like... 2 expansions early... they had this entire expansion all set to go around where karazhan was released.
If the rest of the cards are bad, then jade and pirates will still be the meta, and blizzard wants to see a meta change with every expansion. Each expansion cards will be more OP, so i dont think we have anything to worry about. There will definitely be filler cards, but i dont think overall card quality will drop.
My remaining quests prediction - Druids - play 7 choose 1 (minion), mages - 7 secrets (Spell), warriors either armor or taunt (minion), Paladin . . 7 silverhand recruits (Galvadon (Adapt your silverhand recruits). (so hoping that is not the Pali quest objective or reward effect).
solid prediction man....mage might get an elemental quest....
Galvadon's text was leaked already: Adapt 5 times. I think if they released galvadon as adapt your silver hand recruits, then blizzard would literally just be taking paladin out of the game.
Am I being incredibly blind or is Queen Carnassa and her tokens not on this guide yet?
they aren't.
still waiting for something to deal with jade in the slower classes (priest). not pre-ordering until then.
my exact hesitation. a lot of interesting designs so far, but how many will fall short because of jade?
Right question is - how many will fall short because of pirate warrior? Jade druid at leasts allow you to play more than 5 turns.
Blizzard is pulling all the stops out of this expansion.... They've introduced 5 new mechanics to the game: Quests, Adapt, Unremovable cards, Guess a card, and conditionals based on previous turns. HOW THE FK WILL THEY MATCH THIS???
well none of the mechanics are all that refined. we really have no idea what will be really good and what will be terrible. there's a chance that most of these new cards could be either, and since they're slowing down the meta exponentially, it means that this is the perfect time to test these mechanics. this is really a huge response to the state of the meta right now and for the next year, the game is going to be kind of crazy. doesn't look like combo decks will exist for a while, but even so, finding out what makes these mechanics good and what makes them bad gives them the opportunity to improve on them in a later expansion. at least 2 of these mechanics are going to be scrapped by next expansion, maybe as many as 4. the only one i could see staying around for good is elemental synergy, maybe adapt. the other 3 are really up in the air right now. get ready for the game to be insane, with the promise that these new mechanics will make the game more interesting in following expansions.
This is true. I have not said that the mechanics would last forever and there are plenty of mechanics that haven't/won't. With the cards that have been released, there is no way to figure out the actual potential power level of the set to see how it would weigh against the rest of the sets. I also did some nerd-researching because I was curious what mechanics came out when for the game. It all seems to be blended together over time.
(If I can count) That is 27 new mechanics that have been released since launch and only 4 of them will have left standard when Mammoth rolls around (turn kill discount, empty hand conditional, Joust, & Inspire). And let's be honest, those mechanics weren't all that good to begin with. Then there are the mechanics we have been told won't be specifically worked on for the future (Highlander & multi-class). As for the one-offs in the Un'goro set, I would think that is clear: Adapt (themed to the dino), guess-a-card (depending on how well it plays out) and Quests (it is a Journey after all). The previous turn conditional will most likely be the same as the in-hand conditional for dragons; high focus in the initial release, with scatterings of the text later on.
Discover gonna stay on standard and it is pretty awesome mechanic. It is both RNG and skill based.
