As whiny as the title sounds, my question is dead serious. I haven't been playing for too long and my arena experience is limited, about ten runs or so. I usually base my picks on online tier lists as well as looking for synergies, a good curve, etc.
The problem is that I can never get past two-three wins or so, because almost every opponent I face has almost tournament-worthy decks, when I mostly draft a mediocre one at best. Multiple of my arena opponents could pass for freeze mech mages, aggro shamans, midrange paladins on ladder, only lacking a few cards. They seem to have all the top-tier minions perfectly curved and perfect answers to absolutely everything.
So I'm wondering if arena is actually designed this way.. That if you know what to look for, you can consistently draft amazing, highly synergetic decks?
A lot of arena runs are normally required before you get good enough to be able to consistently achieve high win rates. Arena is harder because you end up running cards that you would never normally touch with someone elses barge pole. Cards like Razorfen Hunter are really not good in constructed but can work out handsomely in arena.
It sounds like you are doing everything right to get a good feel for it but Arena really is all about persistence. Occasionally, you will draft a god tier deck but most of the time you have to work with what you've got.
Other people's decks often look amazing but you should see some of the shit cards that they don't play later in their runs. Like the poor souls that pick Ancient Watcher in the hope they will pick up a taunt giver or a silence. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, unless you know my dealer in which case it isn't.

Yeah, that was supposed to say mech mage. Oops.

Many times decks that go to 12 wins have ridiculous card composition.
It's because the arena doesn't respect the two card limit as in the other modes where you construct your deck.
Also not trying to play too much around what the opponent might have (like Flamestrike) also tends to secure wins.
