Unstable Portal always gives you a mana discount, which is the selling point of the card, and it becomes "stable" after you cast it in a sense where you know what minion you have to play with and have an idea when you want to play it. Shifter Zerus is none of those things and is a lot more "unstable" than the portal.
Not to mention spell synergy. So yeah, those cards are pretty different.
Do you really rate a best case of 1 mana discount to be better than getting several chances at a good minion? Remember also there is a chance that you actually loose mana when you play unstable portal by getting a one drop. Certainly Zerus can transform into something you want before you have the mana to play it but it's literally equivelant to it shifting into something you didn't want, there isn't any effect on the probability that it shifts into something good later.
I can't argue with spell synergy. Not all mage decks have to run spell synergies, although the way the meta is looking they actually do need them to stay competitive.
I crafted this card because I knew it would be amazing in control decks. It may be RNG but you control what the outcome is and it can give you answers if you wait long enough. My experiences playing it have been pretty good.
I always play out ranked and arena games (insta conceding when lethal is obvious), but when I'm testing decks in casual I'll concede if I'm too far behind or if my opponent is playing really slowly because at that point it's not worth my time to play it out.
I have said it to you in another thread: Ogre Warmaul is confirmed. Also, you should easily make the connection between the other ogre cards and this one.
Show me the link of the hearthpwn news article that says ogre warmaul was released to a website or found on their own news post.
Edit: So apparently it was confirmed in an interview that hearthpwn people had with a hearthstone dev.... So it wasn't really publicly released.... but it seems as though they're pretending it was.
2nd Edit: So I just checked their facebook page and apparently they never uploaded the image of Ogre Warmaul but they have uploaded the images of every other revealed card in the expansion. So yeah, looks like they forgot that they never actually officially released it.
While at first I believed that the noncollectable tokens would not count toward the ~120 they said, I'm starting to think that they might.
They've revealed exactly 121 collectables, what are you talking about?
They revealed 61 before today (I don't include ogre warmaul since it wasn't officially released) and they just revealed 60 more and 1 non-collectable (gallywix's coin).
How about Alex first on your opponent, then use this. Will you get 30 hp and your opponent 15? Or will Alex battlecry be reset?
Alexstrasza doesn't set their max life to 15, it sets their current life to 15. You can tell by the fact that molten giant doesn't change cost and that the health value is red instead of white.
I'm pretty sure that blizzard has said in the past that they won't do this and that all hero power changes will be in the form of cards.
If that were the case nobody would run Unstable Portal

Looks like the value of Elven Archer just went up!

In any other class this card would be terrible.
But this is a hunter card. Why. Why more burn. WHY... SERIOUSLY BLIZZARD WHY!!!
This is the most brutal counter to spell heavy decks imaginable, which is a real shame because I love them :(
Wow he kills devilsaurs... tinkmaster combo anyone???
This looks like a great card for ramp druid! It helps them get to a desirable mana count and fills the 3 slot with a solid minion!
In a warrior deck you can deal 28 damage with this in one turn!
Have death's bite in play
2x Ship's Cannon
2x Southsea Deckhand (sack them into something to make room)
2x Bloodsail Corsair
2x Dread Corsair
1x Bloodsail Raider
Of course it'll never happen but it would be quite hilarious!
What spells afflicted shieldmasta other than SW:P anyways?
