Most other CCGs I tried out are quite similar to Hearthstone. Shadowverse (hate the art), TES:L... might even be better games in some respects but I do not want "another Hearthstone" in my timetable. MTG, I stll prefer as physical card game. Gwent didn´t appeal to me either.
I was quite delighted by Hand of Gods - Smite Tactics as another aspect is added to the game (yes, the commercial here did its trick). I think, this could prove really worthwhile. Has any of you tried it out and what are your impressions so far?
Tried it out. Not that impressed, but it has potential.
My gripes:
Out of maybe 15 games played only 1 was not a complete walkover by 1 side or the other.
Starting card pool for free to play is very limited. And there is a lower number of starting free packs to add some interest to the starting collection. (other games like shadowverse and eternal are far more generous)
Queuing issues. Sometimes I would repeatedly queue for a minute or more then get kicked out to the main menu.
Other than that it appears to be a slightly more professional implementation of duelyst. So those after a higher skill floor game (due to the positioning element) will possibly be impressed.
Meanwhile agree to pretty much everything you said. The walkovers were usually from my side, I won 13 of the first 15 matches I ever played, usually without my stone getting damage at all. Things like the limited card pool and the queueing issues will probably mitigated over time. With a bigger player base, the games might get tighter, etc. It´s still in beta, so I m hoping for some improvements. The potential seems to be there.
Will try Duelyst, it was not on my radar.

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
