Yo there beautiful people,i am just wondering how many of you have played dungeons and dragons. If yes which edition did you played and which was your favourite build and why?
I have played the 3.5 and the 5th edition. My favourite builds have been hellfire warlock/eldritch knight and in the 5th hexblade warlock/shadowsorcerer because they allowed great battle potential and roleplaying opportunities at the same time!
Hi jainaishot :), nice thread (I found it by checking your profile... but no, I'm not stalking you... seriously :P).
I only played the 3.5 edition of D&D (although I haven't played too much Dungeons and Dragons in my life, except for video games based on it, like Baldur's Gate for example) and without any doubt my favourite build was Combat Rogue. Why? I really don't know :P, but for some reason I love rogues and to play with sneaky close combat characters that rely a lot on dexterity in roleplaying and fighting games. :)
My favorite is actually a huge middle-aged, dad-bod, ex-bandit called Megaton. After he takes in a little girl he opens an orphanage and becomes a wrestler. 14 years later, a blazing inferno destroys the orphanage, but the door mysteriously survives unscathed. It almost feels like it's possessed and protected by a goddess. So he takes it as his 2h bludgeon weapon/shield and ventures forth to earn money to rebuild it. In the mean time the now 18 year old girl, takes care of the children. In combat, he does cool wrestling shit with it and wears a plated tiger-mantle. He speaks in 3rd person and is generally pretty hype showman and entices groups and crowds, never admits to having ever lost a match, is somewhat famous and calls out every move he does (he flexes his manly quads, jumps into the air, lies on the shield and comes crashing down like a meteor, while screaming "MEGATOOOON-BOMB!!!").
It only was for a brief campaign, so I just doodled something quick based on a pic of Macho-Man.
I've only played Pathfinder (which is 3.5 in a different universe) and really enjoyed the way they handled Priests and Druids. They were specialized in their areas without being cornered.
But my personal favorite class has to be Alchemist. A solid jack-of-all-trades class with a little unpredictability and chaos built in. It's like playing a weird mix between Barbarian and Sorcerer.

Building Quirky Decks Every Week, Loving Life at Rank 15!
I've played quite a bit of 3.5 D&D; in fact, I'm gonna be the DM for an upcoming online campaign among us mods! :)
Over time, I've been a plethora of things - a sorcerer with an unhealthy love for electricity, a grippli who inflicted unspeakable terror in others - but my favorite by-far was my Rogue/Warlock hadozee (that's a sea-faring monkey). I was once a simple monkey-pirate, but by the end I was a true creature of the shadows, able to basically Dimension Door behind people to jam my saber through their back. Jumping from darkness to darkness, enemy to enemy; it was a lot of fun and I felt like a clever badass.

I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3

Holy shit, this is amazing.I've made some wacky stories my self, especially when i was dm but this....wow

Now i regret for not applying for a mod position. Not that i would be chosen with my list of warnings but i am jealous non the less! :D

This reminds me of my high level hellfire walrock built with the invocation that allowed you to transform everything as long as it failed its save throw.Whenever i couldn't hellfire my way out.I was turning invisible and using it.
Me:-Is that dragon a frog now?

DM:FFFFUUU IT'S A FROG ALREADY OK?
Needless to say i died a couple of sessions later XD
Another vote for Pathfinder as the best version of "D&D". I say this because of the sheer quantity and quality of adventure content. Although the most fun role-playing I’ve ever had was in Exalted.
Favorite Pathfinder character: Oracle/Gunslinger.
Favorite Exalted character: No-Moon Lunar, but the Dragon-Bloods (all aspects) are a close second.
Currently I play 5e with friends once a week. I'm a circle of the moon druid named Allanon. Turning into bears and giant constrictor snakes is quite fun :)
I can see why; that is so cheesy lol :P But I guess so was my Nightcrawler-warping backstabbing monkey hehe
The best bit of clever-thinking I've been witness to was when our wizard cast Slow on a dragon baring down on us, and then convinced the DM that, logically, it wouldn't be able to flap its wings enough to stay afloat. After sitting there glaring at the wizard-player for a full minute, the DM conceded with some annoyance that that made total sense, and the dragon plummeted to its death XD
An elder dragon, brought low by a third-level spell and gravity lol

LOOOL!I would never accept that as DM though. My counter argument would be that even if the movement of of the wings is slowed,it doesn't necesserily means that it can't generate enough lift. And if my players continue to bitch about it,i would turn the session into gruelling physics lesson so they never question MAH AUTHORITY as a DM ever again!MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
But you are right,my build was cheesy. That's why if a group asks me to DM i ban the 3rd and 3.5 edition even though they are my favourites.Spellcaster's balance is really poor in those editions.Especially arcane casters become ridiculously op when the player knows what he is doing after lvl 7.And if the party has two of them working together then the game becomes straight up bullshit.
We had me as a hellfire warlock/eldritch knight and a red wizard speciallized in transmutation(lvl 17).Not only we destroying even ancient dragons and liches like candies but because we both had vivid imagination,we were also the true kings of the empire(we had brainwashed the real king and made him believe that we were the embodiment of Ao).Our Dm even put demigods to make the game more challenging and interesting because the story hadn't ended but they were easy as well with the ridicilous spell combos.Untill one day we fall into a anti magic trap and instead of retreating the rest of our party(a fighter,a rogue, and ranger) wanted to stay and fight so they could get a spotlight.Well we died XD.
