I already "Boycotting" the HS by playing F2P, NO MONEY FOR BLIZZARD kappa.
But seriously this is a F2P CCG/TCG, you need to open pack to progress like in any CCG/TCG. Why do you think many people watch "Opening Pack" video? Opening a pack in HS is exciting. If you claim that HS is predatory because of pack system, why not boycot all of the CCG/TCG model? Why blame HS when other do it first and get away with it? You may say you can get a specific card you want by paying other people more money to get it in Magic or YGO, but you can get the specific card by the Dust system in HS.
I say paying money up front to get all the card in CCG/TCG without opening pack goes against the spirit of this type of game. If you still want a way to spend money to get specific card, there is a way in CCG/TCG and that is by buying a Booster Pack. This way you buy a pack that contain a pre made deck and get all the cards in it. In HS they can sell the Deck Recipe into Booster Pack, for it's value you guarantee all the card that listed in the Deck Recipe. Maybe sell it for $20-$30 and I think that's reasonable to get the ready to play deck that guarantee you to get a specific card.
Ok one more but just because your comment was so idiotic it made me angry.
1.
on Hearthstone not being the first to implement this kind of thing : what i'm I supossed to do, go back in time and retroactively kill every card game with a pay2win lootbox style?. I suggest you look up Android Netrunner a game in which you get every single card in an expansion for a fair price and guess what evne though it's not the most successful game it's FUN. It's almost like having an equal playing field between players improves the expirience
2. I remember everyone complaining about adventures going away and even demanding 2 adventures a year instead of one which is basically what I'm proposing ( paying a faor price for a full set of cards)
3. It's not against the "spirit" of card games to expect them not to drain your wallet. The most successful card game in the history of humanity ( you know the one with spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds) gives you every single fucking card for what 5 bucks? I'm guess some people like you would be alright with the king of hearts being a legendary that you open once every 40 pacls or something idk.
For your statment:
1. Well maybe you need to accept that the core of CCG/TCG is pay to win. The more you spend money in the form of packs the more change for you to get all the card, it's the core of CCG/TCG in my opinion. Maybe the game in your example is not as successfull as other CCG/TCG games because they sell all the card and the usual CCG/TCG player leave the game because they can't feel the exitement like when they play other CCG/TCG that stay using packs to sell their card.
2. They abandon adventure is because the dev feel that the player only wants the card and balancing the difficulty of the adventure to make the paying people able to get the card and also fun is not worth it. When the dev set the adventure into hard difficulty to challenge the player and make them have fun, like in NAXX and BRM, people complain that they can't get the card when they pay money for the wing in adventure. When the adventure is easy, like Karazhan, people say that the adventure is boring and not worth their time, they play it to just get the card and be done with it.
The other problem is that the dev must create a high impact card because of the number of card pool with in the Adventure, they can't create enough support card for a deck to work. This is why we have a card that single handedly force an archetype for a deck rather than many card that work together with a synergy to make a deck work.
IMO it's good that they use the resource to create more card rather then wasting their time balancing the adventure. The model right now is great, we get more card in the form of expansion plus there is always a singel player thing going on with the release of the expansion that give free packs or other reward.
When people say they like Adventure, they mean they like paying for the high impact card like Reno or Emperor Thaurissan but when they get Rend Blackhand or Rafaam they complain that it's a waste of money. Sure they get a specific card without RNG this way but that is not why the like it. They like it because they got a high impact card within that content.
3. The concept of CCG/TCG is different then card game that you mention. When I say it's aginst the spirit of the "card games", I mean in context of HS as CCG/TCG card game, I'm sorry if my statement is confusing.
A casual F2p such as me earns about 80k gold per expansion. That includes missing dailies now and then. These 80 packs still get me everything I need to build a competive deck and experiment with new cards. Hearthstone is still F2p friendly enough in my opinion.
80k gold and casual player dont make me laugh!!! such a load of Crap.
fast and easy calculating= 4 expansions a year= 3months per expansion=90 days per expansion.
Farming 30 wins per day for 90 days= 9000 gold, then you get your daily's. lets say you double the 9k=18k!
And thats not for a casual player Noo freakin way. 18k!! you talking about 80k! give me a break.
I miss the days you paid for the game and got the extras for free. This dlc shit is stupid.
You didn't pay for the original game though because hearthstone is free and you only have to spend money if you want to.

Oh? Didn't you know? Yogg-Saron, Hope's End never dies, not even when he's moved to wild due to his new cult member and my newest favorite card Toki, Time Tinker!

Still I'm pretty sure he meant to say 8000 not 80000 gold. Not even someone grinding all day could achieve that, it would require someone to have a really high win average in Arena...
You keep saying he meant to say 8k and not 80k, but thats your assumption. He never posted to correct this huge calculation error, so I stand corrected 3 or 4 expansions. Imo my point is still valid, And his argument wasn't. Its as simple as that!
