I never played the deck before so I tried it out the past few days to see what the big deal was. I made it to rank 8 really easily and then started getting crushed. I always had a good win rate against them playing with other decks--drop a few taunts and its pretty much over
People have already figured out what works versus pirates. And the new expansion brought some great cards to fight them. The deck is still strong but nowhere near what it was before Un'Goro. It's also a belief that if you play pirate warrior you will win 99% of your games by hitting face every turn, when in fact it's slightly more complex lol. Awesome deck but definitely overrated and "over-hated".
Honestly? Not really. You'll start out fast but control decks will grind you down unless you draw perfectly. And the other Aggro decks are just... better.
It's still in the top 5 on ladder overall, but its success drops off quickly at rank 5. One might assume that this is because dealing with aggro requires a fair amount of skill. (I can say from experience that against PW there is much less room for error. In many cases, even one small misplay will cost you the game, no matter what deck you are using.)
So you can use PW until 5, but then you should switch to something better. (Hunter, Paladin, Druid and Mage are all represented in the 5-to-Legend range.)
I think it's not as consistent as the other aggro decks in Standard right now, it's missing a good one drop and two drop compared to Wild and it gets hated out by Acidic Swamp Ooze and Golaka Crawler to the point I think you're better off playing Murlocs.
I have a feeling token Druid will supply you better consistency with a similar game time. Pirates can still be good, but people are playing decks designed to destroy that deck.

That's why I tech in TBK into my Pirate Warrior, only play it on casual though
It gets a lot of hate teched against it, so it can be rough winning games if your matchups are weak.
Exhibit A: I personally run a Control Warrior list with an 85% winrate against Pirate Warrior because I hate them with a burning passion. Lol.

God no, please no. Don't be like them.
