I've seen on a number of sites that at 8+ wins, you can get a common, rare, epic or legendary card as a reward. Is there an equal chance of getting each rarity or is it still weighted to favor commons, then rares, then epics, then legendaries? I've only gotten 8+ wins a few times, but it has been a common or rare each time, so was just wondering.
This page lists all potential rewards you can get with each win. I have reached 12 several times; the odds of getting a legendary are very small. Hasn't occured to me yet.
I have over 4000 arena wins and only received a legendary among my rewards one time, quite recently actually so yeah...it's extremely rare!^^ Unfortunately it was not golden and I don't remember how many wins the run had.
I've gotten epic cards many times, not sure if I've ever gotten a golden epic, it's very possible I have, but it would also be a pretty rare occurrence.

What is Hearthstone to you? A fun and semi-competitive game with wacky effects and crazy RNG outcomes or just a card game you wanna grind as many wins you can get as fast as possible in?
Thanks for all of the comments. This is really interesting. I've always heard that arena is the "fastest way to expand your collection," so I assumed the legendary drop rate was higher. I know that you can net gold by doing well in arena, but that also takes time. It seems like significantly increasing the chance of a legendary at 11-12 wins wouldn't be that much of an issue, since a very small percentage of arena runs are in that range. (Maybe a moot point though because the players who need legendaries the most cannot often get to 11-12 wins.)
The reason arena is the fastest way to expand your collection is that if you get at least 6 wins, then you are essentially getting a free pack since the gold rewards offset the entry fee. Even if this is only 4 commons and a rare that you have, that's 40 more dust to your account. Most likely, you will using dust to craft legendaries, at least that is what I've done. I've used dust for a lot of legendaries (most times I will only get 4-5 legendaries from an expansion by buying 40-50 packs when the expansion hits, and then I usually craft the ones that I still need).
I only have about 800 arena wins, but I've gotten two legendaries from packs, both recently (since WSoG release). I got Aya Blackpaw (5-3 arena) and about 20-25 arena runs later I got Inkmaster Solia (8-3 arena). I've also gotten a second TGT pack twice now (also within the last two months).
I agree the rewards should be better for arena, at all levels in fact. Make getting 12 wins garauntee a legendary would be amazing. And at least make the differences between two subsequent categories more apparent (rewards for 2 vs 3 wins, or 8 vs 9). Sometimes I've gotten less gold for winning arena by 1 additional win. I'm not sure why they don't space out the win rewards a little more.

Quit complaining and just have fun with this game!
I've gotten 4 legendary cards as arena awards so far.
I fell out of my chair when I got my first legend from arena because I didn't know it was a reward possibility. Got Al'Akir the Windlord after a 8 win arena run.
Based on my stats, on average it takes 50 arena runs with 8+ wins to get a legendary card as a arena reward.
Good luck OP, hope you can get lots of 8+ arena runs and get your legend.
I've probably done about 75 arena runs total but started tracking from 50 runs ago. I've had 8+ approximately 7 times and once received Lord Jaraxxus on my f2p account after a 9-win run
Just to be clear, when we talk about earning legendaries as Arena Rewards, we are talking about the single, standalone cards that appear when you pop one of the reward boxes, and not cards that happen to be in the packs that you open from completing a run--right?
I haven't done too much Arena myself, but it felt like the packs I opened had higher levels of rare, epic, and legendary cards better when I opened the ones I bought straight up with gold.
It also feltlike legendary cards were more commonly found in packs I purchased with cash, but that may be because I bought large numbers at once.
Following up on the premise of this post, if someone averages 2-3 wins in Arena (which I believe I am, embarrassingly enough) do you think that they are better off just knocking out quests and climbing ladder to earn gold and, therefore dust? Thanks for reading!

Yeah, this thread is about the standalone cards that you sometimes get from the reward boxes, not from the packs.

From a ressource perspective it doesn't make sense to Play Arena with a winrate of 2-3 wins. At least not in the short-run. In the Long-run you can see this as a future Investment, which might pay off, because by Keep playing Arena you might improve and in that case you can have bigger Advantages than playing ladder. However, keep in mind that not everyone can improve in Arena. So it depends on you if you are willing to go that way or not.
Idk what you guys are talking about. Arena rewards are great..... Got 8 wins earlier today. I got 150g, golden common and a normal common. Went 12-1 the other day and got a golden rare, golden common and 220g...
Feels bad man.. they could easily just gurantee a golden epic at 12 it's only fair to do so. Blizzard is too stingy with the reward system.

I was very much in this mindset when I first started playing arena, every run was an investment in making future runs better, you will get better at playing arena by playing more since you will know more what cards to expect and what you should play around vs what you should not play around.
It can be simplified by saying you just play around strong and popular common cards like Flamestrike, Abyssal Enforcer, Potion of Madness and Consecration, but sometimes you might even choose to play around rare cards like Lightning Storm, Felfire Potion or Shadow Madness if you can still keep strong board control by doing so/if those cards would completely swing the game from being in your favor to your opponents favor. Generally you only play around class cards as the neutral card pool is so big and only a very few have effects such as Mind Control Tech, which may be the only neutral card you sometimes play around if you can. Of course there are times when you have to take the risk in order to at all have any chance of taking control of the board, knowing when you do and when you don't is something you will learn by playing more arena.
I avg. about 6.5 wins btw, so I am an infinite arena player, usually increase my gold amount by 500 - 1000 gold per month due to the extra gold I get from quests. (I play about 30 - 80 runs every month)
To help you get started here is how I'd tier the classes in arena atm: (Keep in mind this is only relevant now that we have the new set appearance bonus)
Tier 1: Warlock, Priest and Mage Tier 2: Rogue and Paladin Tier 3: Shaman and Hunter Tier 4: Druid and Warrior
This is the most balanced the classes have ever been in arena I think so it's a good time to try out different classes, but I would try to stay away from Druid and Warrior as they are lacking behind a bit, at least IMO.
PS: Packs always have the same rarity appearance chances, doesn't matter if you buy them with money, gold or get from arena wins ;)

yeah well, I've just checked my heartharena stats, 243 arenas logged, 72 plain cards and 23 golden cards recieved, and from those... zero legendaries.
good luck with that, I'm not saying that you can't get a legendary card but you won't. :)

I've gotten 2 legendaries in Arena thus far. I remember one was a Grommash and I forgot the other one.
My win rate since last year had been about 6.1 wins on average, with a total of 5977 arena wins.
