People really don't know how to pay this one. Meanwhile, it seems I finally learned a bit of deck building from the old days.
I went with a tempo rogue, combining the old combo style with newer mentalities such as making good use of auctioneer. I also had a 3 win rogue quest I need done.
Came across a shaman that used earthshock and frost shock, a zoo deck with corruption, and another zoo with murlocs. Won all three.
Sidenote, this is nothing compared to the old days. Facehunter relied on buzzard and 2 mana unleash and only survived last on thanks to naxx. Zoo actualy wasn't that strong before naxx buffed them up. 5 mana leeroy. Ext. Some of these decks are shadows of what they used to be.
As for the game.... You now, I was about to consider steping away from the game. I wasn't sure why until this brawl. It's not the RNG or the like. It's the lack of inspiration with deck design. The current expansion decks are very.... Confining, since there's not much beyond quest decks it feels. This brawl though, I needed a rogue deck, took one look at the cards, went, oh... Tempo, then started experimenting. It was.. nice. Now I want to see if I can make the other classes work.
Perhaps I need to finally get into wild. I never really hated dr boom anyway and I miss troggs and hobgoblin. Even the quests might turn more interesting with the old cards mixed in.
Evidence that the Priest classic/expert set is terrible.
Terrible is exageration, but priest, shaman and after nerfs druid are heavily dependant for expansion/adventure to make a competitive deck is clear, much more than warrior, hunter or rogue.
Without Epics and Legs the game is bland, why don't allow Classic Legendaries? It would allow really feel vanilla meta rather then being arena parody.
They should be allow HoF cards, because Azure Drake at least, I could play vanilla Miracle Rogue with it. And allow Rewards set for murlocs decks and so on.
Some cards got nerfed and it's impossible to play good old archetypes like Handlock or Combodruid now. They could unnerf cards for this brawl.
But it's not RNG clown fiesta this time at least, and thanks for it.
I like to see other series of this brawl, like with Naxxramas or with GvG enabled.

I know that feel. I stopped to play Standard week ago, because it's 'pray Pirate Warrior or get rekt by Quest Rogue'. After that found myself playing Miracle Rogue in Wild, pretty refreshing after Standard meta. But near Rank 7 it's tryhard and meta decks again, even in Wild. And I don't mind Boom or something like that, I mean really stupid things which came from Standard. Luckily yesterday Gwent beta started with a lot of balance changes, I'm trying it too. So there are options to ignore Standard, and even this Brawl (while it still has some flaws) is not worst thing in the world.
Hard to pass up 2x Savanah Highmanes. I was keeping them in my mulligan I liked them so much. I kept 2 in my mulligan one game, still won. Ahh, the good old days, when you can keep 2 six drops and not get run over.
Went 10-2 with midrange shaman. Felt really good to play stormforged axe, unbound ele and argent commander again. Weirdly enough didn't face any other shamans, but spectated a friend later and they were showing up with lists similar to mine.
It's nice to see a brawl that rewards deckbuilding, games are slow and all classes have solid options for deckbuilding.
this title is a massive lie, first of all a lot of early decks used legendaries, many were integral to most decks (rag, sylv, vairne, cenarius, grommash, ...), other than zoo or face hunter, but even zoo is a lie because they banned perhaps teh most important card in that old deck ... pow ... not to mention all teh nerfed cards like Molten
if this was a blast to the past I would have had a very nice excuse to use my Cenarius in my pre-Fon+SR ramp druid deck again :(
I wonder if people will finally realize old HS wasn't some magical land of unicorns and rainbows.
It was actually, I remember it well. I remember how the first 1-2 turns drawing badly didn't decide the game. I remember when playing a 4mana 4/5 on turn 4 was the best play possible. I remember when Cairne wasn't too slow at all. I remember when losing 10hp by turn6 was considered "very aggro".
It's not. What you remember is a lot of people who were still figuring out a new card game. One of the funniest quotes I read from some old liquid meta reports was that Innervate was merely an "above average" card.
You can play Miracle Rogue, you just need to know how to build the deck...
1. With Azure Drakes it's much more fun and consistent deck.
2. I don't like your list. I could understand one hoarder as 'replacement' for thalnos. Novice Engineers are nonsense. I rather replace them with kobolds and shivs. Sinisters are worthless in non-malygos rogues. Instead Senjins I rather play teachers. And probably second Poison if still place in the deck.
Unfortunantly we wont have access to those ones ofc I made also nice deck for it got my pack few wins also if anyone is interested as well here it is, the brawl is solid and making it begginer friendly makes game have more novice players stay not like being scared for life against tier one decks in casual.
Decided to try a healing control paladin. Idea is to present token board presence while allowing your opponent to commit resources before using board wipes and healing to stabilize, then start dropping larger minions.
This brawl is awesome. By stripping away the vast majority of "broken" cards and combos, this brawl actually punishes recklessness and rewards conservative play. Now if only ranked and arena could be so easily fixed...

First game: I beat original cancer Zoolock with my own, thrown-together secret/buffadin (feels good); got my pack, adios.
Mage is the best there are only a few good cards and they have most of them, mana wyrm, sorc, arcane int, frostbolt, fireball, flamestrike, etc.
Played Hunter, faced a shaman who ignored my turn 2 Knife Juggler until I combod it with unleash the hounds to clear his whole board...
Learn howto trade idiots. (The irony is I was playing Hunter, but at least I traded)

After this brawl though.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
So this Brawl is just Mage for days? I don't see how anyone else can possibly compete with Jaina.

Edit: forgot to put 2 hexes on hpwn, derp.
Not much pizzazz in this brawl, ok, but found that sort of refreshing. Enjoyed the "back to basics" thing.
Went 3-1, winning as hunter, warlock, mage. Lost as hunter against warlock.
Now back to laddering ;)

It's a huge oversight to EXCLUDE Hall of Fame cards tho. I mean, why no Azure Drake? Why no Power Overwhelming?

The return of Hunter! :D
Do we get access to the HoF cards for the brawl?

Man, I wished I had some of the epics and legendaries to use, but went with the old cheap standby that still required some skill, Zoolock:
Been able to wreck the huntards and everyone else. #FeelsGoodMan
