I played from beta and like 9 months after that. Then I haven't played until now.
Yeah I mean specifically the meta right before MSG was released was pure Shamanstone. Not to say that shaman is less powerful now but many other decks have caught up at least.
My experience with this meta is that it is fantastic if you like playing the main archetypes, but frustrating if you like building more home-brew decks that try to exploit unusual combos.
In essence, Blizzard shaped this meta far more than they shaped previous ones, and it was a success. They provided the extremely powerful tools for Pirates, Jade, Dragon, and Reno decks to be good, and then limited who could use those tools so as to control the balance. In this sense the current meta is an overwhelming success as we have seen a greater diversity of competitive, successful decks than any point in Hearthstone's history. If you like playing these decks, or just enjoy tinkering with the details, then this meta is for you.
The problem is that, as one user put it, making your own deck is like bringing a knife to a gun fight now. The primary decks are all balanced compared to each other, but tower over the rest. I have spent a lot of time trying to make different decks work this expansion, and it just comes down to the realization that nearly all the "overpowered" combos were anticipated, validated, and then enshrined by Blizzard in the current top-tier decks. There is no homebrew way of making a deck that can out-value Renomage, out-burst Miracle Rogue or Renolock, or out-Timmy late-game Jade. It devalues your attempts as a deck creator, because what used to be cool ("Oh yeah, I cheated out this Arcane Giant for 1 mana!) is eclipsed by what can now be done easily ("Oh, he just played a 12/12 Jade Golem for 1 mana").
Don't get me wrong, I'm not angry or disillusioned with the game. I recognize that this is a trade off of stronger top-down control by Blizzard, and that while it doesn't favor me that doesn't mean it is bad for the game.
I'm getting tired of Reno, even though he's in game for quite a bit, combined with Kazzakus providing extra board clear and tempo swing it's really tough to make a viable midrange minion based deck (aka entire grimy goon archetype)
I can firmly attest to this as well. Tempo/midrange is my preferred playstyle and it is just not doing hot right now.
This meta is far from the worst. I'd actually say it is one of the more diverse. I don't miss playing against endless Face Hunter, Secret Paladin, or Patron decks. At least in this meta we have a few good aggro decks (Pirate Warrior/Shaman, which are not unbeatable, just actually tech your deck to stop them), three viable flavors of Reno, Dragon Priest, Miracle Rogue, and Jade Shaman/Druid. I've also found that Discolock (not even using any MSG cards) is still pretty decent as well. Sure some of the decks that have historically been around forever are missing (Freeze Mage, Control Warrior, and Face Hunter), but I for one am glad they are taking a seat on the sidelines for awhile.

No deck beats pirate warrior unless you have an absolutely golden hand. You can beat shamans because they can have a bad hand aswell yes, but pirate warrior.. no.

Actually, Control Warrior is still here ,and hes doing pretty good.

In my opinion, shaman is harder to beat because of spell bursts and board control with totems. Pirate warrior is easy. Im playing reno mage mosly and i lost only few against them.
I'm tired of people trying to defend the grief of the current meta with the "if you don't like it just quit" argument and the "previous metas were bad too so how is this different?" argument.
The problem is if there's a definite problem that 75% of the player base is frustrated with, it makes no sense to ignore a couple core balance issues that could easily make the game much more enjoyable, stop trying to frickin justify that a Pirate warrior killing you on Turn 4 even after you Doomsayer is a healthy meta. And just because there's been problem cards in past doesn't justify that either, it was wrong then and it'd still be wrong now. My mom used to state "Two wrongs don't make a right", and that is exactly the case here, making blanket statement of bad cards in past doesn't make it anymore okay that Buckaneer and spirit claws a cancer right now and clearly overpowered in the meta where it restricts basically any possibility of midrange. People complain about Secret Pally as an example, but at least that didn't come down till turn 6, you at least at a chance to play. Same as Piloted Shredder, it was a very solid midrange staple but it didn't lead to ppl dying in a few turns before they could even fight back. Stop ignoring that Buckaneer and some of these weapons are a problem in the meta, telling ppl to leave cause they don't want to go with the flow ith this cancer isn't a good answer.

Source? I'll put a lot of money on you not having one.
Oh, and another one of these threads? I suppose everyone needs their 5 minutes of attention.
Echo chambers are wonderful things that way. Like STB is certainly problematic, but have people played other games before? MOBAs, shooters, RTSes, you name it all have released something that needed to be looked at for the long term health of the game... and almost none of them have died because they waited for things to settle before applying changes. It's not the dire emergency people make it out to be, especially when functionally the rest of the expansion has actually been pretty remarkably successful.
Then again it's a little easier to meme about turn 4 lethals and hold funerals for Control Warrior, so that's what people gravitate towards.

Then quit crying about it and stop playing. What do you expect to achieve by creating a thread to throw a fit about how you were soooo good before but now you're not? Get over yourself. Games change, life changes. Get with it and move on.

Right, just accept anything, don't voice any small changes its just all or nothing, amazing rationale.
There's always some random idiot during the beginning and then at the climax of a meta to always complain "worst meta ever".
This is the most diverse yet competitive meta I've seen since beta. ADAPT or EXIT is my advice to you rather than making silly rant threads like this one.

That's simply not true. Perhaps you aren't adjusting your deck to adequately handle their speed, but there are definitely a number of decks out there that are able to effectively survive the early game and run them out of steam. A lot of people just net deck and run whatever someone posts blindly assuming it will just roll off wins vs everything. Adjusting your deck to beat the decks you happen to face a lot of at certain ranks is key.

How much does Blizzard pay you to be their public defender?
You must be in serious denial, even Kibler addressed there's some serious issues with Buckaneer and the low cost weapons. We shouldn't have to leave an otherwise GG entirely cause 1-2 things are busted.

This meta is one of the better. It's really rock/paper/scissors. I enjoy it while alternating between dragon priest and miracle rogue. :)
