Hi guys, so i attended my first ever event of this kind (and size) so i wanted to write my feelings about it, if u dont care, then just ignore this thread and thats fine ;-)
tl;dr - the entry is free, like totaly absolutely FREE for everyone lol, so come tomorrow for day 2 :P
The Wait Before the Storm:
I live in Prague, so i went there like 2 hours before the start, so i got in the wait line quite early and was inside in around 11:20 (they opened the doors around 11:00). Early access tickets got in one hour earlier, but i think they cost like 30€ or something and u basically didnt have to wait in line and got some bonus content and stuff. But what was most surprising for me, that they gave us "new" tickets right in front of the entrance and they didnt care if we got the "free tickets" from 1st/2nd/3rd wave or not, they just gave the free ticket to anyone who was there lol. But u had to wait in line ofc.
So ppl who didnt think they can attend due to not having a ticket, might be quite sad, but in fact they couldnt possibly know this ... my point is, if u want to come for day2, DO IT! i asked at info stand and they said it will be the same as today, they will give us a new free ticket tomorrow lol ;-)
Inside the O2 Arena:
After i got in, there were like several ppl cosplaying in very cool costumes (jaina, sylvanas etc.) and there were like booths with event content and stuff (not many tho) and some contests over the all day to win some stuff (u had to post tweets and pics and stuff like that) and then there were three main stages - HS, WOW and HOTS. There were also PCs with Overwatch so if u took the time to wait u could have played Overwatch (i didnt, was too lazy to wait in line :p).
O2 Arena is a hockey stadium normally, so there were like tons of fastfoods and stuff, so we werent hungry ... but what was the weirdest part for me was, that at the entrance they took our drinks, like bottles with drinks, even water. I thought that they did it cause of security reasons, but then when i saw drink prices that were 3x normal price i guess it was a dirty trick to make us buy their expensive drinks lol :P The food was basically normal price and they didnt make us toss our sandwitches and stuff at the gate, just drinks lol :P
Hearthstone Tournament:
90% of the decks were ramp druids and patron warriors (basically every single player except one had those two decks i think), then a few dragon priests (which kinda underperformed horribly vs druid and warrior decks), demon-handlocks, couple midrange hunters and i think one secret pally (didnt perform very well, won like 1 or 2 games).
The stage itself and atmosphere there was pretty cool, ppl were friendly and players/casters/moderators (Rachel <3 :D) too. For some reason Lifecoach was the most popular guy there (guess Czech fans like him a lot :D) and he was pretty cool towards fans as well, after every match (he played 3 series and 2 of them lost) he always stayed for like 15 minutes to take photos with fans and stuff until he had to go, cause the next match was about to start, he was very friendly and was basically the only player, who rly interacted with fans. Other players didnt rly stick around much at all. Dont know if it was cause ppl didnt rly know them, so they didnt want that many pics with them or why ... no idea.
I havent seen all the matches, but like A LOOOOOOOOOT of games were decided with topdecks in topdeck wars, like more then half at least. Mostly the druid decks, they were rly struggling with the card draw (even tho they had 2x Wrath, which was in 90% cases used for a draw and 2x Ancient of Lore). Emperor Thaurissan and (double) combo (or 2-3 minions on board with 2x Savage Roar, when Force of Natures were used as a removal, which happened quite a lot actually) usually sealed the deal for them in the end, those decks were quite successful.
There were few super highlight moments, the best one was probably when Lifecoach played in loosers bracket for a seat at blizzcon and in his last game, the opponent misplayed: Lifecoach had Sylvanas Windrunner on board and opponent had Loatheb, but instead of killing Sylvanas Windrunner 1st, he played Dr. Boom, then after he realized what he has done, he rolled the dice, killing Sylvanas Windrunner with the Loatheb and ofc Sylvanas Windrunner took Dr. Boom as a punishment (1/3 chance), givin Lifecoach leathal, that he might have not even gotten at all if it wasnt for this misplay and would have to play maybe 2 more games instead of advancing to blizzcon right there. Rly great moment and he couldnt believe what just happened lol ... noone could rly :D
SC2 Legacy of the Void - Showcase match:
At WOW stage they gave sc2 one hour for a showcase match and Snute+TLO (played as zerg) vs Lilbow+Marinelord (played as terran) played vs each other in Archone Mode (= 2 players control same units as if just one player played, so 4 players basically played 1v1). Zergs destroyed terrans (mech and bio) in both matches sweeping bo3 with 2:0 :) Pretty funny stuff and cool new units showed.
A while after, there was actually signing with all 4 players, but organisers probably didnt do a very good job with the announcement, cause there was like 1 person lol!!!! :D (but for showcase match there was almost full house and all ppl were very excited sc2 fans, so i assume they would jump on the chance to meet, chat and have a signature from those famous sc2 pro players). Well lucky for me (and my friends) we were able to talk to the guys for a while, cause we were only ones there hahaha :P
The End:
Well thats about it, was very entertaining day and im glad i went, hope tomorrow will be as good :) and like i said, if u thinking about goin, then GO! its free! :)
