After grinding it out and finally hitting legend in S17 (smack dab in the middle of the TGT release), I decided to spend S18 focusing on fun/new/new-to-me decks. I'm glad I did. It helped get me back on track as far as reminding me why I love this game so much. It was the perfect solution for the burn out that was starting to creep up on me. I also managed to end the season at rank 4, not too shabby considering I wasn't really pushing that hard.
The goal for this season is to get my golden Garrosh, and hopefully hit legend along the way. I'll be playing Control Warrior exclusively, and I'm still a couple hundred wins short... so this might take a little bit of time. :p Nonetheless, I'm charging ahead undeterred. Those flames are BADASS, and they will be mine!
For everybody trying to crack Legend for the first time: You got this! Stay focused, learn from your losses, and walk away when you start getting tilted. Glhf everybody!
I have secret paladin, dragon priest, control warrior, midrange hunter/facehunter, rampdruid, tempomage/mechmage, mechshaman/totemshaman and zoolock... but still looking for whichone to play!
even if you didn't list it: patron warrior is super strong still in the current meta - I don't play enough for leg right now, but my winrates with it are really good: It simply owns Secret pally in the right hands, and Secret pally is the most common deck right now! ... so even if you are not perfect at patron (as probably almost nobody, even here, is), you will sport decent rates, just by virtue of a lot of favorable matchups!
the problem is that I sux at patron warrior :( i have terrible winrates with it...
it takes time, I admit: I played 100 games with it hovering around 50 % winrate in ranks 5 +, then it suddenly clicked ... but I think right now the time is as good as never to learn it ;) as even with horrible play you will win a lot against secret pally:
The small minions of the deck just are a liability and it doesn't pressure you life total as fast as hybrid hunter or face hunter did when they were all over the place before TGT ...
just be patient and remember: secret pally doesnt have much damage from the hand without a board, so you can go pretty low before you really go in with your combos!
The season is still young, so I might just give it a try :) any good lists that you can advise?

Played some Ranked today. At first I was playing Patron Warrior but all I was doing was giving my opponents easy wins off me. Switched to Control Priest after that because I gave Blizzard a lot of money to craft it. Currently 6-0 and having a lot of fun.
My strategy for this season, and every season has been simple.
-Play Arena until around the 10th-15th of the month.
-Cheese my way to rank 5 in one day.
-Switch to a meta countering deck.
-Only put in the time if it seems easy after the first couple of days.
Works pretty well. Decent success rate.
Yeah sounds about right. It's too competitive even in the 10-20 ranks right now. What's the point of climbing if it's going to be a slow one? Right now I think I should farm arena some more.. already got a legendary + an epic that I needed from a run today.
I started this season with freezemage. Goes through pala, priest, mechmage and facehunter like butter. Only warrior i met so far was a probably first time patron who more or less defeated himself.
What makes me a bit salty though are the flare hunters. Is that realy a good card? isnt the paladin matchup like 75% anyways? I feel like im the colleteral damage to their stupidity. feelsbadman. Probably switch to some boring druid deck when i get too salty.
How often are you seeing flare out of every hunter matchup?
2 out of 5 till now. Feels devistating, when all your plans for the game just get crushed by one card. But overall freezemage seems to be very strong at the moment. Got 100% winrate against paladin, priest and tempomage and ~70% overall.

But how is their Freeze Mage matchup? If adding Flare helps them against at least 2 decks it's very reasonable to do it

I am now starting my 3rd season, (started at end of august) and my highest rank ever was rank 9. However i got dr. Boom last season and i disenchanted some cards and now have a good zoo deck (the easy zoo one that was on front page a couple days ago) with some changes for budget reasons. My goal this season is rank 5 since i have school and not enough time to reach legend i think, but am stuck at rank 15 rn with a win a loss 2 wins a loss another win and then tilt of 3 in a row, any tips to get out of it?

True, but based on the occurence of freezemages (faced one this season), i dont think they consciously tech against it.
But is it only me or do the paladin decks vary much more now? Faced today some mass token, some control paladin and even some good old fashioned secretless eboladins in ladder. If this continues i think the hunters will cut their flare soon and life will be good again!
Yeah, Arena is definitely the way to go. I feel like Arena in Hearthstone is the equivalent of a Dota Pub game. Much less stress to win, and I enjoy a higher win rate than in constructed.
I'm having trouble breaking past rank 15... I know that compare to you guys, this sound insignificant but I seem to have some issues at the beginning of the season to get out of the lower ranks.
I was playing with Dragon Priest or Pirate Rogue but didn't get any good hand & very bad draw (on top of my low skills, that really didn't help).
Therefore, I've switched to Face Hunter, which seems to be more adapted to my level of skills ( :D ) as I had a few win streaks which got me to rank 15. I think I'll try to push some more with this aggro deck and switch back to Dragon Priest if I get stuck again.

It seems like Hunter City right now because of the secret paladins. I've started playing Dragon Priest because of it and it's going great.

Im rank 9 atm last 10 games played 6 druids 3 palas 1 warrior (combo cancer patron)
Got pretty decent with patron last season, having like 70% win rate this season. Maybe its time for legend who knows
Yesterday I hit rank 5 legend on EU using different hybrid paladin builds, I think it's definitely the way to go.

what's the easiest deck to rush to rank 5 with? I really want that golden epic, got stuck at rank 7 last season with my demon handlock ;_;
Secret Paladin till break wall, then Freeze mage till break wall, rinse, repeat.

Favorite combo: Cabal Shadow Priest + Shrinkmeister = stolen Ysera
Current decks used - all low cost deck with very little craft required
