I recently read a Blizzard job description regarding a Game Balance Designer. This got me thinking... you're in the luxurious Blizzard Aeron Chair, hanging with the hearthstone gang and you're asked: " Ok hot-shot we didnt bring you on board to be a clown, tell us what to change" What are you going to say? Put yourself in the hotseat, be bold!
The most difficult to answer, and I want your opinion:
1. Design a Hearthstone Card-
2. Critique one Hearthstone Card-
What do you guys think? I attached a poll to see if we all agree on the card to change (next up for nerf ;)
But I wouldn't hit it with the "nerfhammer", I'd probably have it redesigned to reduce its random element (like 20-30% to draw at the end of the turn, and a draw a card deathrattle).
I feel like it "eats" too much damage for you, and with people drawing 4 out of 4 it can outright decide a game right there (if the enemy doesn't have a "quick response team" to deal with it).
Seriously only one card needs a nerf and its not any listed...Innervate...Im sorry all you fluffy kitty fans its broken and you know it. Any thing that has a the ability to summon a turn 3 Ragnaros is beyond broken.
Public Mod Note: No need to generalize and call everyone lazy and stupid because they have their own opinions. Be more constructive in the future, and don't resort to name calling.
The amount of whining and complaining brought forth by the HS community is honestly pathetic. Some people are so lazy and just downright stupid, it makes my head hurt. At the end of the day the card draw determines everything. Learning how to construct a deck that is consistent is the most skillful asset a card player can acquire.
Stop bitching and begging for nerfs.

I'm surprised Molten Giant hasn't been mentioned. Many decks have been built around the ability to get one or more of these out for free, then follow up with several other minions or spells, granting taunt, charge, etc. It has been suggested in plenty of other threads, but I think there should be a minimum cost for the Giants.
Interesting thoughts here, I didnt mention a few cards but I like the different opinions here.
Any ideas for creating a card? I have also heard with a few nerf ideas.....
1. Nat Pagle- Should read, at the BEGINNING of your turn you have a 50% chance to draw a card. I actually think this would be great as it gives us a little more time to react to the fisherman.
2. Ban Druids- This one is slightly a joke, but looking over the last few major tournaments (like the razor invitational/HSP or Liquidhearths. Even all of the NA/EU tournaments run on this site... druids are by far the most selected class. While they do not always win they are still the most popular for a top 8-16 finish!
3. In terms of a card I would like to see- I would not mind seeing one NAGA card. I was a big WC3 guy and I always dreamed of playing them as a race. Maybe something like summon a naga flood the board! Not sure what it would do, maybe switch some cards on the board? Would be nuts but who knows I am not that creative! What you guys got?
I think it would be ok to add "but no less than 3 mana" to all the giant cards. It by no means make them bad cards it would just keep them from ending up in crazy combos.

Similar to Summoning portal from the Warlocks? I am curious why 3 mana? I think that is a pretty good idea.

Ha You Mad Bro? I AM TOO!!! I really just am anti-druid :/. Power to you Chiv.
Everythings fine. Blizzard should nerf anything - people will, and SHOULD, adapt to the metagame themselves. If you always see a certain kind of deck, and you refuse to guard against it, you deserve to lose as many times as it takes to get the idea through.
If anything, I would go through some of the cards that are BAD and buff them - some cards are obviously thematic and there only for flavor (wisp, angry chicken, etc) and I think that's the bad idea - not that there are "too good" cards, but that there aren't enough of them to create a reasonable variety of decks.
This will get better as adventures/expansions come out, game-wise, at least.
I'm throwing my banhammer on the nerfhammer. There is no need to change any card atm, the meta is working fine. Just add more cards, for infinite diversity in infinite combinations.

This is nothing. You should see the WoW forums since day 1.
As some people say: we need and we have to wait for new cards, not to nerf other cards.
I start again to play HS just a couple of days ago (too much work on december/january) and what I see? Every patch: "wow they use some specific cards...NERF IT!".

THIS!
Hey guys,
So I am guessing you guys feel like Blizzard has overreacted recently and maybe hit that nerf hammer too many times?
I agree with you guys, trust me I do. As we look at the development of card games nerfs seem to be pretty rare. What is more common is to ban certain cards from tournament play.
My only thing is, this game is still very young. These cards we are seeing are going to lay down the foundation for what we will see for the foreseeable future. If there is imbalance now, adding more similar cards may cause a compounding issues if that makes sense :).
By the way, I am not saying the cards I put in the poll are imbalanced. But who saw a novice engineer nerf coming? I do feel like we see alot of Harvest Golem BUT that may just be because other 3 drops are pretty weak.
Your guess is wrong here, I'm totally fine with any nerf (well okay, mage is in a weak state now, but only by a tiny margin, and no one saw novice on their radar). :)
The difference between banning a card and changing a card: In physical form changing a card (errating it) is hardly possible, without consent. You can achieve it for "official" tournaments, but not for casual play ("Hey, did you know they errated card X! Just see FAQ Version 2.3.1 released today!" - "No way, you just made that up, because I won with that card against you last time!"). In digital form you can nerf and buff retrospectively without too much effort (well, most players would hate it still, but it is manageable). But in both cases you do it, because a card doesn't work in its current form.
In physical form banning a card is usually done for tournaments, to enrich the meta. You take out the card which makes a certain deck more than functional, and therefore make for an more interesting meta. And you unban it later if favourable. In digital form banning a card is done for the same reason, otherwise you "just" change it.
What I mostly see at the moment is people jumping on the waggon Blizzard introduced: "Card X is played in too many decks, so we change it." Since there always will be a Card X, there comes a time, where you just stopp altering even more and just push the game forward. They nerfed shiv, rogues played novices. They nerfed novices, lots play Nat etc. If the sole reason for any nerf is "Card X is played in too many decks, so we change it." it will be an endless spiral of nerfs incoming. And on the other hand, it requires "Card Y is played in too few decks, so we change it." and buff certain cards, which isn't useful for a healthy meta (because one day every card would be the same: "Cost X mana, deal X damage") You always need a certain imbalance, to make for an interesting meta. And only if the imbalance tends too much in a single way, you really need to do something.
So no more Nerfhammers, let the smiths do their job and craft us some new stuff to play with.

Stop nerfing the spells, nerf the hero health as WOW TCG Warrior 30 life, Mage 25 etc...
And that would be needed because...? Every tournament currently end up as Mage vs Mage in semi-finals and finals, right?

StrifeCro Frozen Giants
I would nerf The Card.

The yeti is scary, or an early Druid of the Claw taunt or charge. I dont think its fair to have that large of an advantage.

The Coin no longer is a spell.
Harvest Golem Summons a 1/1
Nat PagleDraws one card every 2 turns at the start of the players turn. First card fished up comes at the first turn it is the players turn again.
As some people say: we need and we have to wait for new cards, not to nerf other cards.
