Data Usage - The number is based off 10 consecutive games played in Ranked mode, it doesn't take in account of anything else. Hooking up a phone running HS on my computer, it seems loading the HS app uses about 30kB and deckbuilding/collection browsing is about the same.
Battery Usage - This was from testing on about 6 different devices on both Apple and Android. Older models tend to burn through battery at a 10% per game rate, with some going even higher - and the newest phones handling it at about 3% a game. Also checked forums/twitter/reddit for people report on their battery usage.
Hope you all enjoyed this little graphic, thought I'd whip up something quick for the mobile release - I'll be back Friday with the Heroic Budget guide for the new wing: Blackrock Spire!
I have no idea what they are trying to achieve with this launch. As if anyone would actually play on their phones. The data consumption is crazy.
Nah.
1. Wifi connection = no data usage. I can game all I want at home or in many fast food places. In truth, the places where I'm most likely to not have wifi will be places where I shouldn't be playing (like driving in a car).
2. With my 2 gig data rate, I have about 13,300 games before I run out of data for the month. Note that I don't play warrior so I never have to worry about one warrior/warrior game destroying EVERYTHING.
Meanwhile I just picked up an on-the-go charger so the battery loss isn't an issue.
OTOH, I DON'T have 2 gigs of space on my phone. Soooo...yeah.
Actually, the data consumption is actually very small. Even on my 400 MB plan it adds up to nothing. Browsing Twitter is a bigger usage than playing a few Hearthstone games on transit.
Data consumption is low because the only data you need to download from their servers through the cellular network is mostly just text data on what moves are made, which cards are draw, etc. All the graphics, animations, and fancy stuff are in the 1.5 GB it takes to make up the application.
Battery usage it high probably just because of the number of animations the game runs; it's a nice and high quality game so its kinda normal. Although maybe a bit above normal for HS.

I figured as much. Curious if they'll add an option to turn the animations off (if thats even possible without a boatload of work from them) in order to provide mobile a better experience.
1MB = 1000kB... as an IT-guy it hurts to see that.
And as a good IT-guy you should know that the 1024B = 1kB was just laziness of the first Computer guys. k stands for Kilo and Kilo comes from Latin standing for 1000. (same with mega giga...). In the days were the 1024B = 1kB order was introduced, hard disks were way smaller and the difference didn't matter by a large amount. Now with terabyte the difference between the meaning of tera (1000 000 000 000) and the real amount of bytes is around 10%. Hard Disk developer use this effect (80GB are not 80GiB). There are people that try to fix this Problem with new ways to count Bytes, but it is hard because everyone has different ideas and many people doesn't even care or know about the Problem.
So its not wrong to say 1000B = 1kB. It is right. The Problem is everyone things you mean 1024B when your write 1kB
The problem is everyone things you mean the exact number of bytes when you refer to 1KB?
Well, I propose that the problem is people who think 2+2=4. I mean, facts be damned.
Actually, the data consumption is actually very small. Even on my 400 MB plan it adds up to nothing. Browsing Twitter is a bigger usage than playing a few Hearthstone games on transit.
400mb plan? That's like half a days worth. I almost max out my 50gig/month plan every month with just Youtube and other streaming
2 gig here. I mostly use wifi at home but away from there I stream youtube on the lowest setting (mostly for the audio. You don't need visuals for listening to D&D sessions). I run out at about half a month.
Either way though, Hearthstone shouldn't be an issue for any of us, data wise.
Now MY question: how much Internals storage does it require compared to SD card size. I can't fit it in my phone but I'm also running on a small SD card. Wondering if upgrading my card will do it or will that not be enough to fit in the internal space.

Man, does nobody have unlimited data any more? I have 10 gb that I share with a family plan, but I never come close to going over. Wifi people <---
unlimited high speed data plans are pricy in the US at least. my plan is unlimited data but NOT high speed data. Under normal data, I can stream spotify but youtube is flat out of commission. Works for me. Rather put the extra cash into life matters.

Wanna know the secret to making 400 MB last a month? Hint: Don't stream.
In any case, Hearthstone is definitely NOT heavy on data usage.
This is really cool! Although im wondering why the battery usage is so high compared to the data usage and compared to other games.

More saliently, your computer is counting in powers of two, while manufacturers advertise in powers of ten.

There are 3 kinds of people in the world. Those that can count, and those that can't.
*edit
Also seen as there are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that read binary and those that don't.

Love the infographic; tbh the app is what pulled me back in after barely touching hearthstone for the last year.
