As a casual player, read that as guy with a full time job / wife / family and other real world commitments, 30 days is just not long enough for a single season. I spend way too much of my time playing weaker players because I don't have time to push for rank as quickly as the group I should be competing with.
Playing at rank 5+ is where I find the most competition / rewarding play but if it takes me half the season, because I don't have enough time to play more, to reach that level then half of my play is games I don't want to be playing. I am very unmotivated to even push to reach those levels this season because I know I won't enjoy most the play to get there.
Please consider adding a new ladder with a 90 day reset, call the highest rank something other than Legend, give it a different card back so no one thinks it is the same as Legend, but give players like myself the opportunity to play more games at the levels we achieve before shoving us back into the mass of garbage games required to get to that point.
He still has a good point. You still need to invest 50-100 games from rank 16 to 5 every month, which might be fine for high schoolers or college students, but can be rough for people with families and jobs (that have the skill but not the time). The other problem with the ladder is the overvaluation of single games (MMR related issue) at the end of the season. If you lose one game you are out of top 30. That's just silly and makes the last day of the season a huge luckfest.

Dude i agree with you. I have a lot of college work to do, but i love this game so much. I wish that thetime I gotwas enoughfor competitive play and a extented season should help.
I don't understand how it makes the game more competitive? If anything it makes it less competitive because anybody and their mom would be able to reach legendary. And more people don't make it more competitive if most of them suck.
Doesn't make sense - if you're playing against weaker players you should immediately catch up because you're winning so much. Hitting rank 5 is easy, doable in 3 play sessions.
You might not know this but casual has it's own MMR rating, so that should be the place for you to get evenly matched fights rather than ones based on rank.
Season resets give something for people to play towards each month, otherwise everyone just plateaus, or worse, win-streak star inflation means everyone is legend.
I agree with this too. This isn't the blizzard forum, so I dont know what is expected here. Does blizzard read these? Anyways, I am in the same exact position. I work a lot as an RN, have a wife, kids and a life outside video gaming. I tend to get to level 5-4 by the end of the month and I never have the time to push further.
It doesn't take a few games even with winstreaks. I enjoy control decks aswell, so trying to rank takes even longer. I understand the card back every month, but really? You don't even need to play to get it. Under rank 20 is achieved just by default for getting past rank 8.
Seems like Legend rank is more to prove you can grind out 200 games in a month rather than being skilled. As a control deck player 1 game can last 20-30 minutes.
Two ranked mode parallel makes no sense. Those you want to fight will always go on the shorter/more difficult ladder and would not get what you want.
I also have family, kid, job, etc and never made to legend. Making an easier climb would take away from the experience I believe. I'm not against reworking the ladder, but there should be only one.
I honestly like the idea of a longer ladder but I also like the less fluid Grand Master system more. The big problem I have with HS is that every season you have to grind your way through the mud up to what ever rank you desire, dropping so low is just always infuriating. Not only because you have to grind your butt of but also because it encourages heavily the play of fast aggro decks because you need to grind out x amount of games. I would like for example a Masters and Grandmasters league in the sense that, if you get to rank 5, you stay at rank 5 next season, if you get to legend, you stay in legend for next season
Then of course you do need some way so that you can drop out for next season if you for example have a bad win/lose ratio. I'm okay with lower ranks being fluid but I'm not a fan with the rest.

Let's face it, the ladder is terrible and needs a complete rework, not just duration but also the ranking and matchmaking systems.

Why not have divisions and a year season and you recieve a cardback for the division u are in at the end of season.
If u can't invest time into a game then how can u possibly expect to reach the highest level?
Pretty much every game requires a lot of time invested into it to reach a high level.
Just accept the position u find yourself in and be happy.
This topic has to be a bait right? Saying so-and-so is going to walk away unless something changes, using an account that is anonymous?
Please, walk away! Good riddance.
