Hey everyone, I've been playing Hearthstone casually for a few months but I didn't really take it seriously until maybe one month ago. I drifted in and out of several other communities on youtube such as pokemon, call of duty, and other games but then I got to the Hearthstone community on youtube, (Trump, Amaz, Kripp, Noxious) and I feel like there's less drama and people kind of get along with each other. The call of duty community was a mess so I didn't feel like being a part of that, but this one seems much better. Does anyone feel the same way at all or... what?
It really depends on which part of the community you look. Especially twitch is horrible. I can't stand 5 minutes in forsens chat without wanting to hang myself. The battle.net HS community is also terrible. But there are nice places. On twitch Trump and StrifeCro have really good chats. Youtube can be a little more problematic but people like Trump and Noxious seem not to attract the major asshats which is a good thing but they are out there.
This forum and people like Trump/Life coach are extremely useful and friendly. I was genuinely surprised when I read some of the replies here since I come from Dota which is the definition of toxic. One quick read at some of the Dota forums will make this place look heavenly
Twitch chat can be embarrassing to mankind. Forsen's 'chat' for example, is chock full of donkeys - I swear the collective IQ of his chat doesn't break double figures. But he encourages it, because he's more worried about numbers than any proper discussion.
But there are a few alright twitch channels, where you can *shock horror* actually have light discussion - GuardsmanBob's channel for example, if you like arena. And I guess Trump's, if you don't mind paying to chat ... I couldn't stand him for more than a few minutes though tbh.
HS is no different to any other F2P game in that it's full of idiots and kiddies. I do not find the HS community positive at all. If i could some it up in one word it would be "Immature".
As with every other group there are the good, the bad, and the angry. If you go in wanting to have fun you probably will. Any anger or frustration or other bad energy is usually brought to the table by those who need to remember.....it's a game. And it's as free as you want it to be. Enjoy.
As in all communities, you will mostly remember the most negative aspects haha... The community on Hearthpwn is actually quite helpful and not bad, but there are a few losers here lol (I'm hoping they know who they are). No matter what online community you look at, there will always be some people just looking to get under people's skin for no reason. It's unfortunate, but whatever.
Either way, if you ask me, the answer is "It's maybe slightly less toxic than other online communities (DotA/LoL/CoD in particular), but it is by no stretch of the imagination very good."
Case in point: the other day, I had someone add me after a game just to say "fuck u u lucky noob suck my dick" even though I wasn't particularly lucky lol. Used a consecration at the end of the game to clear his board (most importantly, a taunt) and finish him off. Funny thing is, I held on to that Consecration for quite a few turns. Oh well =/
