I have an idea and I am sure I am not the first but I am certainly the latest as of the second this gets posted to think we could use some new heroes! I am happy with the ones we have and not suggesting we discontinue them but having choices within hero abilities with the same pool of class cards could certainly be a refreshing way to bring some viability to cards that are currently considered unplayable and as long as the current hero choices are available it shouldn't break any current decks outside of adding to the meta.
I've been hoping for some new classes since Beta tbh ... I'm really surprised there's hasn't been at least once since.
naxxramus.... gvg... obs mode... arena system revamp... ranking system revamp... where/how would they fit working on a new hero with it's own set of cards and balance with the rest of the heroes?
im sure new heroes will come down the line, but im glad the stuff that they finished happened within a year of release

If you're happy and you know it... well that's good :)
As Brian Kibler said on his stream, new heroes are a bad idea because they won't be as developed as the heroes that came before them. If I'm not mistaken Death Knight is in the works, but Blizzard risks having that class become too similar to warrior or paladin, which are already weapon and control based as is.

I wanted new heroes since BEFORE any of this, I did say since Beta, right?
I still hope they do at least one. I think it's BS anyone saying a new class would take too long to blend or whatever, some thought Naxx cards would break or ruin the game. The 'adventure' side was a bit of a waste of time if we're honest, it was just there as a way to get the cards. A new hero would add some spice to the game I think, would only take a few weeks for it to settle in nicely.
Are you telling me that in another year's time, you'd be happy to be using the same 9 classes from last year? And as for people harping about lore, and fitting in, there are other classes in WOW ... they should actuallt blend in easily enough.
I wouldn't be opposed to a monk or DK class but that is not really what I am aiming at. I agree coming out with completely new sets of class cards is risky and though should be done at some point in time we are seeing plenty of new cards quickly as it is and I am in no rush to try and force a lot more cards before they are ready. I am thinking having more then 1 hero for the current class's. It would require coming up with a new hero power but keeping the same sets of cards. So when you choose a deck you can also pick the hero. Examples might include a warrior with an aggressive hero power or a hunter with a defensive hero power which could allow for more varieties of control and aggro decks. Plenty of people already make aggro warrior decks and control hunter decks now but with a hero power that has synergy with them they may actually become much more viable in constructed.
As far as keeping the powers balanced I do not believe this would be too hard. Some abilities might have to be the same as already existing powers like maybe give paladins option to heal like a priest or maybe even start a priest in shadow for a chance to ping like a mage. I would prefur more innovation but really even small changes would allow for all class's to be viable in more archetypes.
If they were to have a new class, will the class have GvG class cards? Or expert set class cards? How long will it take to rebalance the entire GvG set all over again? Will there be a new hero class quest in Naxx for the new hero?
I doubt we will ever see a new hero. Every game needs a core to build around, in HS it is the 9 classes.
Even if Blizzard doesn't want to add new hero power for new heroes, they could still add new heroes as a cosmetic thing. Each hero class can have multiple heroes (Valen and Tyrande for priest) with different quotes or hero powers of existing heroes. Valen can use the warlock's card draw since he can see the future, and Tyrande can use the mage/hunter ability since she's also an archer. Hunters and Warlocks can summon beasts and demons with current totem stats.
I do believe 9 classes are fine in the moment. Maybe, they will add new classes in a near future... but I'm looking forward the next expansion rather then a new class. We only have 2 releases since the beginning... before adding classes, they have a wide diversity of cards to implement into the system, I believe.

i believe many are misunderstandinh my intention. i was never asking for a new class or new cards. i was suggesting new heros of the same class with different hero abilities that may sync better with curren cards that are not in use as they dont fit the current hero power and thus opening new decks and ideas into the meta without having to add new cards
An interesting idea. Could be fun. Most people are pulling for new modes, such as a tournament mode, and I feel like that should really come before anything else. With the staggering amount of money this game is pulling in now they sure are taking their time in adding new features of the game.
Introducing Death Knights and Monks is pretty much confirmed I believe. I think we'll get DK's next expansion, and Monks a couple of expansions after that. There's no reason not to - the fact that by that point HS will be very settled in is even more reason to shake things up a bit with new classes.
In any case the OP was more talking about alternate hero portraits for the current classes. I'd like to see alternate faction equivalents for each:
Warrior - Varian
Hunter - Vereesa
Rogue - Garona
Paladin - Liadrin
Shaman - Nobundo
Druid - Hamuul
Mage - Kael'thas
Warlock - Kanrethad (obscure I know).
Priest - Sen'jin

Paladin - Arthas
Shaman - Ner'zhul
Mage - Same as you
Warlock - Kil'jaeden
If there was death knight class my type would be Teron Gorefiend.

Wasn't Arthas the new Lich King? the leader and lord of all death knights? :) I think Arthas is going to be the DK hero as he turned to evil after claiming Frostmourne and later became the Lich King :)
He used to be Paladin before turning into DK, he's cool as death knight but overused imo thats why i didn't add him. Teron is pretty damn badass and not so known + i have sentiment to WC 2 ;)

Her art is in the game, but she herself isn't. I think it's important that the new heroes be on the opposite faction.

i wouldn't expect a new class for at least two years. lots of other things are needed before that happens
