You sure it wasn't a disconnect? The symptoms are the same.
Also, you can include hover images inline (like Burrowing Mine) by just putting (card) and (/card) around the name. Except use [brackets] instead of (parenthesis).
I've had disconnects where the game let me keep doing stuff, isolated in it's own little pocket of nonconnection, even giving the appearance of still being connected. I could scroll over cards and SEND emotes, but was your opponent sending emotes back? Sometimes the game will let you keep doing stuff after a disconnect before the signal gets to the brain and the game kicks you back out. Took the better part of fifteen minutes for me once.
There are two separate connections in most Blizzard games (if not all of them).
The first is the actual game feed, what happens, every event etc. The second is Battle.net connection, RealID buddies, chat, etc.
I assume the latter handles emotes in Hearthstone as well and keeps the match alive in some situations. I had plenty of those and if you even suspect such situation, just alt+f4/swipe away the app and reopen. Your game will be restored ;)
Still it doesn't mean it's not a bug - could be in that particular situation.

If you use Far Sight: http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/107-far-sight
And you draw the Burrowing mine from the Iron Juggernout legendary warrior class card: http://www.hearthpwn.com/cards/12345-burrowing-mine
The game will freeze: You will not be able to attack or play cards even if you can select with mouse, you can't even pass your turn.

Feel free to add me if you play on NA! iMPose#1429

It wasn't a disconnection, i was able to see my opponents looking his cards and send emotes, connection was fine.
