Everyone is being so cruel, but really, Blizzard should take part of the blame for this. This is why you make things idiot-proof, because people will ALWAYS do something stupid! This is why USB's can only be inserted one way, or why razor's are no longer sold with an exposed edge. This has been enough of a debacle that Blizzard is likely to do something to address this in future expansions.
How is this Blizzard's fault?
You're right people will always do something stupid, which is why you can't make anything idiot proof. Also for that matter they do sell razors with an exposed edge.
You buy some GVG packs, you play a game, you go back to buy more packs assuming that the GVG packs would remain selected. You buy packs, turns out that classic packs were reselected by you either logging out or playing a game. I bought 6 classic packs because I was operating under the assumption that the GVG packs would remain the selected ones.
It really sucks. All these "holier than thou" people who are so perfect because they couldn't possibly make this mistake must really be superior human beings. I mean I wish I was so perfect, but alas I am but lower than human garbage. I don't deserve to get the packs that I really wanted.

You quoted my whole post, but you didn't read it? I said right in it, it's PARTLY Blizzard's fault because they could have made it more fool-proof in their design of the store. So many people bought the wrong pack it obviously is an issue.

Yeah it's really hard to see that all of the packs right in front of your damn eyes in the purchase window don't look anything like the GvG packs.
I noticed one thing that Blizzard should be held accountable for. That is the current inconsistent programming of the default pack selected when a user enters the shop. For example, prior to buying any packs, the first time the user enters the shop the default is classic, which is fine. Next, this default pack choice will change depending on the last pack purchased by the user. In other words, (within the same gaming session) if the user then purchases gvg packs, then exit shop, then re-enter, the default selected will be gvg, and the same pattern follows if the user last purchases classic packs. Now, the problem I believe Blizzard should be responsible for is that the default always resets to classic for every new gaming session, ie. user logs out then logs back in.
This then creates situations to the effect of; the user chooses a pack to buy, then gets acustomed to that same pack being selected everytime they re-enter the shop and thus simply clicks on buy without re-selecting a pack. Following a new session however, that previously taught behaviour by Blizzards programming changes because it is no longer defaulted to the last purchased pack, but is defaulted to classic.
In conclusion, I believe it is good programming to have the default pack be the last purchased because that is logical to how players will be wanting packs, however, Blizzard failed to keep this consistent throughout multiple gaming sessions. Note, I'm making this comment only because I view highly of Blizzard and the quality of their games, which is why I expect this level of intuitivness and consistency in their programming.
Im sorry but I fail to see why Blizz cannot refund packs that have been unopened, or have an UNDO button as long as you havent actually cracked open a pack.

If you think that being able to see the numerous visual cues to indicate you're buying the correct item is some type of super power then you might actually be as incompetent as you're pretending to be.
Lol I didn't know this was already brought up here before by Slachtbeest.
I find it interesting that people are simply dismissing this inconsistency of the default packs and choosing to shift the onus completely onto users to rely on OTHER cues and signs to differentiate pack selection. I feel like, designing those visual cues are just the bare minimum requirements to have a game considered playable. If gvg came out and the pack purchasing process had any less of the visuals cues, sounds, animations to signify pack selection, then we wouldn't even be having this discussion, instead everyone would all be bashing blizzard for making things confusing. But because they did a pretty good job, there is this debate. After all, having consistency and intuitiveness makes a better game, and the current setup with changing defaults can be improved upon.
So, when I first heard about this, I had no sympathy. I bought my first packs with real money without a problem.
Today I accidentally bought the wrong packs with gold today. I thought about why I made such a mistake, and I think I have a partial explanation. I think the reason so many people make this is mistake is because we have to unlearn the one way we've been packs for months. I knew what I wanted to buy, but I went into autopilot.
If GvG were the default, this would be less of an issue. I'm not saying I'm owed anything, but I can really sympathize with anyone that payed real dollars or blew their hard-saved gold on the wrong ones. It sucks.

Exactly this. Many people do not in fact think when buying new packs, because for the most part they haven't had to. That is how most people adapt to most routine things in life.
I agree it is very easy to buy the wrong packs, luckily for me it didn't happen but had i not double checked i might have bought the wrong packs. Like someone above said it should be idiot proof so this doesn't happen.
Blizzard's refusal to give others a refund just makes me think they knew it would happen and it all went according to plan. Nothing should be defaulted in any buy screen of any company. It's a small, sneaky trick. Their no refund policy in this situation suggests it was Blizzard's design. Of course, it could simply be an oversight, but, I'm leaning toward no.

I guess you haven't actually read anything in this thread, Blizzard is giving refunds (roll-backs to the time before they made the mistake) to people.
Are people seriously looking for ways to blame Blizzard for their mistake?
This entire thread is SOO funny from a psychological perspective! (This isn't targeted towards you RaddinHS, but everyone making the same comment)
Many MANY of you are exhibiting an extremely common psychological phenomenon called the "fundamental attribution error", which is described "In social psychology, the fundamental attribution error, also known as the correspondence bias or attributioneffect, is people's tendency to place an undue emphasis on internal characteristics to explain someone else's behavior in a given situation, rather than considering external factors."
For example, say you are eating lunch in a cafeteria and you see someone trip and drop their food, you are likely to think, "Gee he or she must be clumsy!" But say the next day you trip in the cafeteria you are more likely to then say, "This floor is uneven, someone really should fix this it is a safety hazard!"
Relating to this, all of you saying that these people are stupid, etc. I have a STRONG feeling your story would be MUCH different if you had made a similar mistake, and you would instead be saying "Blizzard shouldn't make it so easy to make this mistake!" instead of, "Gee I'm stupid!"
If it really is that poorly designed then how do you explain so many of us that got it right the first time? Is it just sheer luck that we were able to look at our screens? I get mistakes happen, but it's not Blizzards fault that you made a mistake. You're probably never going to do it again are you?
I bought packs 3 separate times and bought GvG every time before I even knew people were having a problem with it. It's absolutely ridiculous that people are blaming this on Blizzard.
Yeah same thing happened to me also... Well I mean it exited me out to add a payment option and when I went back I was excited and quickly went to click on the 40 packs and then I realized what I had just done but had I not needed to add a payment option I would have been safe. So anyways I sent a message to support and they are going to refund me since its my first but its been 2 days and I still haven't heard much or had it completed yet so it might take a while and I cant play until they are done because they are deleting anything that happens on my account from when I bought them to when they do the switch.

The thing is we will never make that mistake. It's too stupid. So i guess we will never truly feel how it happens.
people need to stop relying on the convinience of online purchases and go into auto-pilot mode when buying.
it's like buying a toaster and then come back for a refund, blaming that the supermarket put old toasters in a more visible rack.

I think with every purchase Blizzard, as a good will gesture, should include a complementary pair of oven mitts and a kick boxing helmet.
How is this Blizzard's fault?
