Hearthstone induces rage because it is interwoven in the total fabric of the card game. They have at Blizzard good psychologists to maximally market the inner workings of the human psyche. Rage keep you playing and buy packs in a feeble attempt to beat the feeling.
Take for example the absence of auto squelch. Emoting can be a concentration breaker. Squelching every time isn't comfortable. Induced rage sells packs.
The most profound reason however to rage is that skill and strategy don't win you games. Mindlessness does. Only those rage who realize the dehumanizing aspects involved in that choice.
This. Well put. To think this design is unintentional would be a mistake. Blizzard knows how to market. To bad they spend more money there than in design.
From the delicate field of ethical reasoning (ethics, who cares about that?), complainer marketing derives from a reprehensible, derogatory, distorted mind. But once again, who cares? As long as packs are sold, we all settle for the lesser men.
"The delicate field of ethical reasoning"??? Dude, please, stop... Just stop!!! In this shitty world, ethics are generally extremely impractical, usually making anyone who supports their opinions on them a dreamer who lives in another dimension and is out of touch with reality. But hey, just for you to know, here is a good example of ethical behaviour: Not acting arrogantly and attacking/insulting others every time someones disagrees with you, even on the internet, while talking about ethics. And guess what? That's is exactly how you bahave all the damn time. Hypocrisy at it's finest, my friend.
Claiming Blizzard's procedures as bad because they seem to be unethical is extremely childish... Nothing more, nothing else.
Any game where you feel not entirely responsible for the outcome will make you feel anger when you lose, it's the card draw, it's your team mates, the connection, or just plain bad luck. The answer, if you feel yourself getting angry outside of the game, is to take a break. It's that simple.
And remember, win or lose, it doesn't actually matter. Your rank is an arbitrary number that resets every month anyway. Unless you're one the top 100 players in the world, it really doesn't matter at all.

Oh, yeah, they are masters of manipulation, and I love it, but guess what? There is nothing wrong about it and they are not worse than the most "humble" and "goody" person that has ever existed.

These days for me, it’s hard getting on the wild ladder and not getting trashed by the ungodly amount of secret mages. I mean a new secret and a new secret activator and the ladder is flooded with this cancer
This thread has gotten to the point of being absurd with these kids thinking they know anything about what game companies use to sell packs. No. Rage does not cause our brains to want to buy more packs. It's actually the opposite. Having fun and when chemicals associated with pleasure start being released is when we are more prone and vulnerable to spend money on what is giving us that pleasure as we feel it will give us more pleasure.. hence the foundation of addition. You won't become addicted to something that gives you feelings of anger continuously.
You are, actually, more likely to stop doing something that gives you negative emotions.
If you rage while playing Hearthstone it has nothing to do with Hearthstone. You will rage and get overly emotional over anything that is out of your control. You have anger issues. You have emotional issues. You may have been emotionally hurt when younger. You may have never been taught the tools to stay in control in situations where you lost control.
So please let us stop with this idiocy that Blizzard is paying a team of psychologists tens of millions of dollars to see how to make you rage so they can sell packs. It is stupid and bordering on an idiotic conspiracy theory created by the paranoid ones out there that think everyone is out to get them.

I don't need to learn ethical skills, dude. I wouldn't considere them impractical if I didn't know enough about them, don't you think? I'm a knowledgeable person and I have been educated probably in the same way as you (or even more), but that does not mean I'm domesticable and manipulable. Don't confunse rejection to society's stupidity with being uninformed. I look for new information all the time wherever I go, my friend, because after all, knowledge is power. :P :P :P
And again, there is nothing wrong about the way Blizzard runs its business model, everything they do is allowed by the law in most countries, no matter how much it bothers you and how much it conflicts with your sense of ethics. ;) ;) ;) Maybe one day I will run my own video game company and succeed (who knows...), and believe me, people like you will not worry me in the least, because my games will be made for those who want to have fun and not for masochists who deny reality.

Think of what kind of lesson is learned for real live...
I don't come to your place and punch you in the face. It's not practical. Or should I think it is not the right thing to do (ethics)?
Too much RNG, Too much matchmaking. They choose when you win or lose and static meta, same decks over and over again, same bullshit plays. Most of all, same decks in wild making the game inviable to play with any constructed new deck there or give good use to old cards against settled braindead meta decks of wild.
