It's really just a naming style. Highlander was based off the films (of the same name) where the catchline was "There can be only one..." Singleton comes from the Software Engineering term for a class / object that can only ever have one instantiation.
Some like one, some like the other. Both are recognisable however, so you can use whichever you prefer.
On a personal note, though, I get irritated when people say "this Reno Deck..." when the deck doesn't have any Reno card in it... ^_^

Reno was the first card that had that effect so itakes the name after it. Are there any Highlander theme cards in any Highlander deck? Nope

Yeah, I get the reason behind the naming. It's just a personal dislike, because OCD... lol! :-P In every Highlander deck, "There can be only one" of each card, so every card has the highlander theme. :-D
Why does everyone call it Singleton Decks instead of the Highlander Decks?
I know it's just a name, but I kind of prefer the old name
Maybe because a lot of people didn't understand why they were called Highlander decks to start with? So now they call it something they understand.
But there can only be one

I still call them Reno decks, even if Reno isn't in them.

So does the development team, apparently.
Technically Reno Mage is a thing again because they have Reno lol
