I keep hearing how everyone hates hunter. It's also one of the most played classes. I was looking at the vote between the new Hunter card Steemwheedle and the new Warrior card Crush. The Hunter card is winning in the vote. Again. And the Hunter card Gahz'rilla beat out the Druid card Malorne in the last one. So I wonder...
How do so many people hate Hunter if you all keep voting for it?
Don't get me wrong, I don't really care. In fact, you could argue the Hunter card might give us better overall information. I'm just curious because many people keep saying how they hate the class and yet it seems to be very popular. Perhaps the class is not universally hated but merely polarizing instead?
Hunter is extremely popular, it's just hated. There's a difference between climbing with an OP deck and actually liking the class. People hate the brainless deck, not the class.
Well, what I'll say is that so far NONE of the hunter cards revealed support the existing playstyle. My personal opinion is less that hunter as a class is the problem and more Undertaker + access to 2 different 1 drop deathrattle minions (that aren't chow because the heal defeats the purpose of aggro) is the problem. With the addition of clockwork gnome everyone can all in on the obnoxious undertaker strategy the way currently only hunter can thanks to webspinner.
Also we've seen 4 warrior cards already and 2 hunter cards.

But the brainless deck is synonymous with the class. That's how it works because there is no variety in viable playstyles.
Hunter has always been my favourite class and it probably always will be. I don't really like the current OP deck though, I hope the new expansion will give hunter a viable late game deck.

At the moment, that's why people get excited for cards that might change the meta.

Fair enough. I do think we will learn something fairly significant about new meta Hunter from the card. The side that isn't related to beast Hunter.

I am so with you on that one. I love the beast synergy, but I hate the stupid one note secrets/deathrattle deck. My favorite hunter build is using beast synergy with rhinos and hound masters to give us charging beast, mukla, and highmane. I even built the secret/deathrattle deck just to see if it would work...and it does...but I hate playing it. So I don't.
So far, loving the new cards for hunter. Even if all of them aren't great, like the call a pet card, they're at least not supporting the toxic nature of the OP meta. I approve.
All my friends who have good taste and well educated (Ph.D. degree) are very into control decks. Those who like aggro decks are usually just normal guys. I am not offensive and just telling what happened in my life.

The popularity of aggro deck has nothing to do with good taste or education in my opinion. Aggro decks are so popular because of the current ranking system, when playing aggro you can rank up much faster because you play more games in the same time. Because of this an aggro deck with a 51% win rate will rank up faster than a control deck with a 65% win rate.

ur point makes sense. the effectiveness in climbing ladder is the main reason why aggro decks r popular. i didn't explain my observation precisely (zoo is control imo). actually, i just found that many teenagers r extremely care about the results (win/loss) and their ranks while many guys who r very successful in reality life r not and thus pay more attention to entertainment (combo, control the deck, and epic play).

Woah, that's a pretty sweeping statement based entirely on anecdotal observation. I would have thought that a fellow regularly who associates with PHD's would be less prone to bias.

Yeah I think the haters are voting for the Hunter card because they want to know what they're going to have to deal with once GvG lands.
brainless deck?what does that even mean, you think there is skill involved in this game? are you serious, deck is a deck the hunter deck is build with small creatures that are cheap and has something on board every turn, there is no skill in this game you play with what you have in your hand that is it,this is RNG based game, the agro priest plays basically the same cards as the hunter,so by your logic the agro priest and agro mage are brainless as well right, come on.....

It's pretty simple: Why is it played? - Because it's easy and doesn't cost a shitload of dust (like CTRL warrior), also quick plays and good to climb with Why is it hated? - Because it's taking away the diversity, when everybody runs a rush deck and the faster one wins. Why has the card so much votes? - Because everybody (including me) hopes for a change, possible mech-hunter, pirate hunter or the infamous control hunter.
In addition people value a minion higher than "just" a spell, which looks like another removal for warrior, so not that exciting. But a sniper, possibly changing the hero power or applying hunter's mark or being a solid pirate for Captain's Parrot, the possibilities are sheer endless and therefore more likely to be voted for. Same for the legendaries. Marlone looks just like another classic druid card, but a NOT rush card for hunter? Everybody wants the change and the diversity, so they vote for it and it's the best ooption IMO.
Pretty much hit the nail on the head. While some people like the fast rising through the ladder with aggro decks, a fair bit of us are sick of the lack of diversity. My brain nearly exploded when I encountered a wailing soul all silence priest. I lost, sure, but it was fun because it was something different and interesting. That's what I want for hunter. I want someone to drop Godzilla and me to drop Mecha Godzilla(since it'll be GVG) and see who the true king of beasts is XD

Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
I dump on them pretty frequently because of how popular the deck is and how simple the play style is. I also do not like the fact that people can just play this deck so poorly and get to decent ranks with the deck. Seeing people get to ranks 5-10 and still making horrible mistakes is disgusting
People seem to wrongly think that if you don't like a specific deck or play style that its just because you lose to it alot. This season I'm 16-4 against hunter (80% win rate). 8 of my last 9 games have been against hunter and I hate the homogeneity that hunter has on the ladder right now
