Just curious what people think about netdecking and its impact on the game. I haven't played hearthstone all that long (maybe 1.5 years), but it seems to me that much of the polarizing nature of standard play can be contributed to netdecking. How often do you hear about people playing against the same 3 or 4 decks in standard (ie control warrior, rogue, mech hunter)? Or similarly, that a deck needs to be nerfed based on how much it is predominantly played (ie rogues for instance)
Making it easy for people to run top meta decks seems to just limit variety to the point that it undermines the premise of the game itself. I get that some people don't have time to experiment for themselves and that copying a deck code simplifies matter, but in the long run it seems detrimental to overall gaming experience.
To be honest I've been guilty of netdecking too. It's easy, fast, and generally improves the chances of winning. I am surprised however, how many solid decks don't see play, namely because for one reason or another they are shown on some websites as unworthy of a Tier 1 ranking, and therefore often neglected.
Personally, if I had to choose between losing the ability to copy deck code and a stale polarizing meta, I would choose not having the ability to copy decks. I would rather go up against 20 or more different decks than play against the same 3 or 4 over and over.
You want no netdecking? Go play arena. In a constructed format there will always be strategies performing better than others. Most people don't want to experiment and waste their dust to find out for themselves what works and what doesn't, so they netdeck. It happens in all similar cardgames. It basically is part of their nature.
Do you think people won't just copy the decks card by card, why would removing the deck code help?
Clearly Blizzard doesn't see it as a problem as they not only gave the option for deck codes they now give you the highest win rate deck based on your cards with the auto-complete feature.
As you already said, netdecking is the easiest way to climb the ladder and improve your possibilities of winning and getting gold and other rewards much faster. Even if they removed the possibility to share and copy deck codes, it wouldn't do anything because people would still share their lists through streaming, screenshots and other similar ways. There's no way around that. Also, people like to share their good decks because it makes them feel good for accomplishing something hard (make a highly competitive deck that may even make to tournaments). What do you suggest? Removing the ability to take screenshots? Prohibiting streaming and youtube videos? Cut out all sources of engagement from the community? It doesn't work. Just accept it and move on.
People hate netdecking because they are too lazy to think outside the box to create or improve decks and are traumatized being raped with their homebrew decks because of their poor deckbuilding skills.
I don't see good players crying because of netdecking. While you are sobbing on the forum, some guys try to get innovative and counter the meta.
Furthermore netdecking has nothing to do with players being sheeps, stupid or whatever. People just don't have infinite amount of dust or dollar so they have to craft cards in the most effective way and a tier 1 deck is the best dust value deck. Don't you think all these netdeckers wouldn't love to try hundred of decks with all the cards available instead of playing control warrior everyday during one month?
Why nobody is complaining about netdecking in another tbs game called - chess? People play with only 2 decks, namely black and white figures, for centuries.

I don't mind netdecking at all. But I mean I mostly win. Other people might not be so "lucky"^^
Even when I play unrefined decks, other people seems to always give me a way to win. Just "lucky" I guess^^HS is a basically rock, paper, scissors anyway^^
Netdecking is what it is. The game rewards winning and netdecking is the surest way to increase your chances of winning. I just wish they could implement some features in casual (e.g. an achievements system) that would reward experimentation. Really annoying to experiment with weird decks in casual and consistently run into the top meta decks.

We’ve seen this thread every week for the last how many years?
It’s inevitable. Let’s just not worry about it?

New to the forum so wasn't aware of that. Solid point.

The biggest problem is rather that I don't get a blowjob after every game. And it would be easier to solve than people netdecking, too.
Netdeck can refine deckbuilding skills.
I like elementals and totems.
Netdecking is healthy.
I often wondered what all those fireworks were after each victory. Thanks for clarifying it.
No, it is not. Except arena there are netdeckers over and over in every mode.
Hahaha that’s great. It can be annoying playing against the same decks over and over. But I just try to play a deck I enjoy and have fun with it
No it's not the problem. And in opposite to you, people who netdecks knows how to use search function.
People hate netdecking because they are too lazy to think outside the box to create or improve decks and are traumatized being raped with their homebrew decks because of their poor deckbuilding skills.

One guy have just reached top legend with a secret hunter nobody is playing which counters rogue : https://twitter.com/neon31HS/status/1124431051043102720
And another japanese player (satellite) has created a new mech paladin to reach top legend : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSv5ld2O_fM

What an amazing community. Refreshing!
