I like the way they trigger in the order they were played it as adds a little extra thinking to it.
But does Misdirection also get consumed when it was played after Explosive Trap? Because if that's the case, I would much prefer it the way it works with the mage secrets.
Yeah, secrets don't trigger at the same time. They are resolved in the order they were played, same as deathrattles.
but hunter secrets do trigger at the same time. if I played explosive trap, then wandering monster, then you hit me with a 2/2, then both secrets would trigger.

Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
Mirror entitry would trigger if minion survived the explosive runes and would give your opponent a copy of damaged minion. But because at the time mirror entity would resolve minion is already dead there is nothing to copy...

I guess the difference is that with hunter secrets you're attacking with a minion already in play, so the secrets resolve before it dies
in mage's case you're playing a minion from your hand and it dies before hitting the board so the mirror entity doesn't trigger
The general idea is to try to avoid spells utterly 'wiffing'. They can be diminished in use, but they should have SOME effect.
Wandering monster still works because you still get the minion, even if the original died.
OTOH, if you cast explosive then freeze trap and a 2/2 attacks the hero, the freeze trap will NOT fire as the explosive would've killed the minion.
Just like how Explosive Trap and Misdirection trigger at the same time with the hunter, even when explosive trap kill the attacking minion?
are you sure that happened exactly? You CAN have misdirection fire, THEN explosive trap killing the minion, but I don't think Misdirection would trigger if explosive killed the minion beforehand. I KNOW Freeze trap won't trigger (seen it myself, relied on in a few times as well). I don't remember misdirection triggering on an empty place.
Same for Explosive Runes. If it kills the minion, Mirror Entity can't track any minion on battlefield to be triggered.
Misdirection doesn't trigger after Explosive Trap kills the minion. it triggers "when" an enemy attacks you. So They trigger at the same time. Misdirection doesn't need a minion on board to be triggered. They both trigger when enemy attacks if there is a minion or not. It doesn't matter.

Yeah, looking a bit more into it. can we get some confirmation on Misdirection/Explosive?
SPECIFICALLY, if you cast Explosive THEN Misdirection, can Misdirection fire?
Because the wiki says:
For example, Freezing Trap or Explosive Trap triggering before Misdirection can prevent Misdirection from activating. But if Misdirection is played first, Freezing Trap or Explosive Trap will trigger after it, and may render Misdirection having triggered meaningless, such as by killing the new defender or removing the attacker, thus cancelling the combat. As with any cancelled attack, if the attacker is still in play, it will not be exhausted or lose weapon Durability,
Thus Misdirection does NOT 'fail' or is forced to trigger at the same time. It's on the same trigger but they STILL trigger one at a time. If Explosive makes Misdirection impossible to work then Misdirection won't fire.

may i get the wiki's link?
Because you know, they changed some "after" and "when" rules and it might be an old information.

It was last updated last November, so I believe it's up to date. Meanwhile OP didn't specify just what they saw when they referenced Explosive/Misdirection, so it's easy to see them seeing Misdirect into Explosive then assuming it's because it's working 'at the same time'.
It's easy to miss if you are looking at it casually. But once you are aware of how secrets work it would be easy to spot if it's Misdirect-into-explosive (minion is given the new target, then is killed by fire) or explosive-into-misdirect (minion is killed, then the misdirection card shows up with no animation or a target with no minion around to see it)

there is a quote as
Misdirection will not trigger if there are no defensive targets available which the attacker could be redirected to after previous effects are finished. For instance, if Explosive Trap triggers first, mortally wounding all possible targets for Misdirection, Misdirection will not trigger
So according to this, even if Explosive Trap has played first, when a minion attacks, Misdirection can still trigger because hero is a defensive target.
And I also remember that happened me bunch of times.

The first secret checked to see if there was a minion. There was, so it triggered, and the minion was destroyed. Then the second secret checked to see if there was a minion being played. There wasn't - it was already gone - so it didn't Trigger. If you played Edwin first, it would have survived the first secret and the second secret would have triggered.
Just run a game with the innkeeper running shaman normal. Lots of 2 health creatures.
Just did it. Did explosive then misdirection. Opponent had 3 2-health minions and he dropped a 3/5 during his turn before attacking.
A reckless rocketteer attacked. Explosive killed it. Misdirection did not trigger afterwards as the original attacker was dead. You can try it yourself. Just make sure you drop explosive first.
So yes hunter secrets work just like mage ones. So long as an effect can occur the secret can trigger and the second secret can nullify the first secret but if the spell is set to fizzle it won't go off. Mirror entry and misdirection won't fire if a prior secret kills the minion first.
Hi, so there's my tilting experience that happened just now.
I'm facing a Mage will playing Rogue.
Mage got 2 secrets on the board and 2 minions.
So I play Fire Fly(the token one)
which trigger [card]Explosive Runes[/card]
And so after that I play my 10/10 Edwin VanCleef And there it trigger Mirror Entity
But shouldn't Mirror Entity had triggered on my Fire Fly token?
Just like how Explosive Trap and Misdirection trigger at the same time with the hunter, even when explosive trap kill the attacking minion?
If he played Mirror Entity first and then Explosive Runes then both would trigger. He played Explosive Runes first so when you played the minion it died without triggering Mirror Entity.
I like the way they trigger in the order they were played it as adds a little extra thinking to it.
But does Misdirection also get consumed when it was played after Explosive Trap? Because if that's the case, I would much prefer it the way it works with the mage secrets.
It says exactly this, since the card text reads "after your opponent plays a minion", why does it not trigger after you play fire fly?

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
It is just normal.
It is a known situation summoning 1/1 Sheep with Potion of Polymorph + Mirror Entity. Mirror Entity triggers After minion placed on the board. So even if your opponent plays The Lich King, if you have Potion of Polymorph played first, Mirror Entity summons the Sheep because it triggers "after" first secret's effect ends.
Same for Explosive Runes. If it kills the minion, Mirror Entity can't track any minion on battlefield to be triggered.
