Hey just curious about your opinions. At first i thought the changes the made to the ranks were good. With that i mean that you will only fall about 5 ranks after the season. But i am realizing that i really don't like that anymore. I enjoy 2 things the most in hearthstone: Climbing the ladder and playing underdog decks, or meme decks if you want to call them like that (not those 100% wacky decks with 5% WR). It is almost impossible to experiment while having fun with this new system. I find myself at rank 5 after 1 or 2 days playing and then i just face the well known t1/t2 decks.
And i don't really enjoy the r5-legend road. I took it one time and i will only take it, if i really enjoy a tier2 deck again.
The original ranking system was the most horrible pile of steaming that they ever invented. Who in their sane, right mind would ever want to go back to that?! Bizarre!
That's what i am curious about :P I just wish i had some way to derank.
The question here is "Why do you wish to derank?"
Since you find the same decks at pretty much all stages of each rank (Rank 15 and 10 are pretty much the same as rank 5, for example), then the only feasible option is that you want to play against lower skilled players... to make the game easier for you, one assumes. Which kind of goes against the whole purpose of a ranking system. You're not supposed to be playing against easier opponents, because that is ruining their game for them.
That said, if you are determined to derank, it's very easy. Just sit at the bottom of each ledge each month and dont go higher than 3 ranks above it. After 3 months, you'll be back at 20 once more.

natural assumption, yes. I just got reminded of how much fun i had, when i played on a fresh account with my brother, whom i showed the game. I just tinkered him a deck with the little cards he had and we managed to do quite well, only fighting netdecks once every 3rd or 4th game. But the results are already pretty obvious i am alone on my standpoint here :P
Well you could always replicate that feeling by starting another fresh, new account. I have just such an account that I like to use when I want to challenge myself with a limited collection options and see what I can build, etc.
The players starting at rank 4 each season today are the same players that were starting at rank 17 on the old system. Pick your floor that you want play to and play to it, its pretty much exactly the same as it was before except you're not demolishing new players at rank 20 when you belong at rank 5, which is a good thing.
If for some reason you insist on experimenting with meme decks in Ranked mode (as opposed to Casual where they belong), then just concede a few games every now and then to prevent yourself from ranking up so quickly. Geez.
I guess you guys are right, the new system is just better designwise, at least in terms of the actual laddering. The thing i miss is a goal to work toward, maybe new game modes new cosmetic rewards, stuff you can unlock while playing. The feeling of working towards something is the thing i miss the most i think.

So what do you think?

You could easily climb the ladder in one format and experiment in the other one.

We already have this.
It's called Ranked and Casual.

Netdecks will be all over the ranks so its unavoidable if you want to play ranked. Best bet would to go Arena mode.
