Every game Rexxar makes perfect answers for the situation. Low on health? No problem. Heres a Lifesteal with charge and windfury!
Have to deal with your opponents board that he built up over 2 turns and is ready to kill you, heck, just make a Bloatbat with Rush and Posionous! No problem!
Need a Tundra Rhino beast, just add a 0 mana Penguin to it for no added mana cost!
Do this every game, and find exactly what you need!
This is a real problem for the game. So many times, Rexxar single handedly wins the game.
3 Lifesteal Beasts.
6 Poisonous Beasts.
5 Charge Beasts.
7 Rush Beasts.
81 Total Beasts to choose from. So 25% have one of these Keywords in them. Im not a Mathmetician, but you get 6 choices offered from Rexxar each time. Prob something like (25% per choice x 3) x 2!! chances to land the needed Beast. Whats the match work out too? Im not sure. But it SEEMS like Rexxar makes the exact tool alot more often than originally intended.
If Blizzard introduced Servers, where you could set the parameters for the games played in it. For example, no alternate Heros/.or DK allowed. Or a Common/Basic and latest set only servers. etc.....etc....etc....
So many ways to make the game more appealing and less frustrating for some of us. Another idea would be a card pool of 5 you can swap in or out before the game starts, according to the match you are facing. Oh shit , another Mill Druid, I better get rid of those slow cards and tech in some faster ones or a silence to deal with that Auctioneer.
I believe these ideas would benefit the game. Yes, I know you can play a specific deck to counter the Rexxar issue. Control Priest for example. Hearthstone could have more flexibility however with tweaks to the game modes, so that players dont have to always change the whole class/deck they are using. Plus, how many times do we switch decks to counter the meta, only to never see those classes you were countering, with your new class!!
The gist of it is, forcing players too just suck it up and deal with the unbalanced cards is a terrible way of managing the game. Many games have servers where you can set the games rules. Hearthstone would benefit from this immensely IMO.
C'mon guys, it's not like he is "salty" and whining (which you make it sound like) - compared to many other threads.
I think he's actually bringing some good points to the table. He's genuinely caring for the game; coming up with ideas on how to improve it.
Personally I support the idea of a "sideboard", some sort of card pool with tech cards in. It would totaly add an element of skill and test the players knowledge of the meta and such. But then again, the design philosophy behind Hearthstone is to be easily playable (and basically for kids). Therefore I doubt Blizzard would ever add something to the game that'd make it any bit more complex. ...merely a false dream. </3
But new modes? uuuh yes, totaly doable and would only improve the game. Since it's not like it'd change anything for the players still wanting to play the "current state game-mode". More variety = better. So new modes; just an improvement. <3
Yes, rexxar is broken along with many other cards. This just means that team 5 should actually learn to balance cards, nothing else. If they can’t do that, then how do you expect them to implement more servers and modes?
Reasons why Hearthstone needs new game modes? It's getting boring AF. 5 years and all we got is Tavern Brawl, many of which are repeats? Gee, thanks. Still wonder what that Tournament Mode idea was about. A joke perhaps?
Man, this whole spamming of threads when you lose to a specific card thing really needs to stop.
I will entertain the secondary topic of the thread though. Regardless of how you shape any other new game mode or server there will always be people who find it distasteful, or those who bring up the legitimate problems of such a new mode.
For example, make a mode just with basic & classic cards? Enjoy automatically losing when playing with priest & shaman due to awful starting sets.
Want a mode just with commons & rares? Hope you enjoy playing against zoolock that all of us older players already played against.
Format with weekly balance changes? Enjoy the lack of confidence in feeling you can craft anything safely because it will get nerfed anyway & enjoy ever leaving the game just to come back to half or more of the decks broken when you get back.
Format with bans? Enjoy playing a lopsided game where everyone plays Rock, bans Paper, & destroys Scissors for inflated win rates. Such dynamic gameplay. Wow!
See how pitifully easy it is to poke holes in ANY new format/mode ideas? In fact, I challenge anyone to propose an idea for a new game mode that doesn't also bring considerable cons with it as well.

Sideboards are something put into best of 3s where you play one deck. It's the alternative to Hearthstone's multi-class system in tournaments. It's skillful since by the time you use it you already know your opponent's main deck and they know yours so both tweak their decks to better suit the situation.
Neither system is used in a best of 1. How DO you incorporate a sideboard into a best of 1 when the most you can set up is knowing the opponent's class beforehand? Doing so means classes with multiple high end decks gain a heavy advantage. You rolled up hunter. Do you add anti-secret and hope they aren't Beast/Deathrattle or do you focus on silence and hope they aren't beast? OTOH, if they are warrior you know it's either odd-warrior or a really bad meme deck.
To add sideboards we need a best of X system. If we are adding a best of X system, we're better off just having it be multiclass with a ban for a LOT more variety, skill in designing an entire lineup and strategy, AND you KNOW that 2 out of 3 of your games won't be hunter since they can't do hunter against you 3 times in a row.
(unlike single deck which means you WILL play that same hunter deck 2-3 times in a row guaranteed)
See how pitifully easy it is to poke holes in ANY new format/mode ideas? In fact, I challenge anyone to propose an idea for a new game mode that doesn't also bring considerable cons with it as well.
The point to bringing a new game mode is that different people have different tastes, so have a game mode the supplies pros that people can't find in other modes.
For example, the Con of having a monthly rotating list of sets for a mode (lilke the 'old and new' brawl but a full mode and the sets are randomized) is that you need an insane collection to keep up with the month to month changes. But then if that is a problem Standard only rotates eveyr 2 years and Wild never rotates so you can plan things out for that. Meanwhile folks who want to use their cards in new ways and finding the other modes lacking can have the rotating mode.
So the question isn't whether a mode can please All of The People. The question is, can it please enough folks that aren't pleased with the current modes or who would like both to be worth the investment.

And how do you determine the rules? Are they set by Blizzard? Then people will complain that no new mode accomodates them.
Set by the players? How do you even find someone to play? And in that case, just play with friends and homebrew whatever rules you fancy. Go wild!
Not to mention, new game modes could/would tear up the Pro scene. I will be the first to say I've lost interest on the e-sport scene over the last 5-6 years of playing, but I assume there are still people out there that bet their livelihood on HS not becoming a mess of modular ladders and a weirdly split community.
Yes Rexxar is broken but in April it won't be a problem for me as it and all other 1st gen DK cards go wild!! I'd love to see those net decking idiots play in that meta where if the make it to Rexxar it's considered a long game. IMO blizz waits too long for cycling. It's too bad the Wichwood wasn't going out too. I'm so board of having only 1 option to climb the ladder (baku pally in the west coast meta). It's too bad now that they have nerfed so many good cards. I miss trying to guess weather a shaman was spray and pray or Shudderwok.

I really wanted to be interested in what you might have had to say and suggest in regards to game modes. But it just turned out to be a fairly long-winded rant about DK Rexxar dressed (barely) up as a suggestion for something else.

OMG< youve obviouslt never played any pvp games. you log in, then scroll thru the list of servers available. choose your server BASED ON PREFERENCE AND PLAY. all the players are there still. most will be in whatever is popular. however, there will be other rooms to play in too.

Exactly this! We get posts like this every day because someone lost to a specific card - so it is mostly salt!
And you can't please everyone therefor if we would get new modes someone would complain about that too ...
ths is what this forum is for. discussing ideas. im sorry u all think its salt when i criticize and offer solutions tothe the game we love.

Didn't read. First line was boring.
No need to read, he's just salty about losing to Rexxar. Probably just a heavy stall player running a deck with no real WC.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Wow, so much salt... Let me show you the way, my dear friend: https://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/general-discussion/212005-group-therapy-need-to-blow-off-steam-mega-salty (and yeah, I read the entire post ;))

Perfectly good salt thread - wish OP could find it.
Or maybe, just maybe, the mods would enforce a sensible policy about this kind of drivel.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
tl;dr salt thread
TL:DR
He don't like Rexxar and don't want to play against him.
I like the no alternate hero's idea. No Guldan, no Rexxar, no Jaina, no Zuljin. I'll even give up my beloved Hagatha for that.
And how do you determine the rules? Are they set by Blizzard? Then people will complain that no new mode accomodates them.

I think its a fun card and usually not the reason hunter is so obnoxious. Dr Boom and Rexxar are the most interesting heros.
Fun > Meta
