Something relating to another thread in here got me thinking about this. I had a weird bug / issue this morning. Hearthstone wanted to download an update in the background, but since I had no wifi, I chose not to download it for now. The result of this decision meant that a number of sound effects appear not to be playing for me just now. In particular, the sounds for any of the emotes. But I still get the speech bubbles pop up.
And playing a few games like this, I realised: this is actually a whole lot less irritating. I don't know why, but it's the sound effects - probably the really sarcastic tones they speak with - that can be the most annoying and cause us to squelch the opponent. However, doing so means you don't get the emotes at all (including the speech bubbles)
So I think it would be nice to have an option to "mute" emotes, but still be able to see them. That way it encourages you to still interact with the other player and can emote back and forth, but it just feels a lot more enjoyable and fun to do so in this way.
Now, I am sure that some people will say things along the lines of "Who cares?", "Don't be so sensitive. It's just an emote", etc etc. And that's fine. You don't have to agree - it's just an opinion. You wouldn't have to use the option - nobody would force you to. But it's something that I find would make the game more enjoyable for me, so I am for the idea. :-)
Another day in Hearthpwn, another thread complaining about silly emotes...
Jesus f..king Christ, stop!!!
Dude, chill. This isn't a complaint about emotes. I like the emotes being there. It's just a wish for an added piece of functionality. Why so angry? o.O
I feel like the volume should be broken down in a few options, like: Master Volume, Effects, Background Noise, Players Sounds and Card Effects. Sometimes you don't want to hear the music but you like the card sounds and so on.

This is just a complain in disguise about emotes. We already know how threads like this usually end: locked. So why did you start a new one?
Ok, whatever, I'm going to pretend this thread doesn't exist, bye.
Not downloading the sound files was to reduce the size of the app.
As for the emotes, I think speech bubbles alone would still trigger me if done at specific moments (hunters saying thank you at the end of a game they only won thanks to perfect zombeast RNG for example).
Wow! That is rude. There's no need for that attitude. OP was being civil about the discussion and wasn't salty at all. Really, this kind of attitude I hate the most in Hearthstone. Easy to be rude online but face-to-face... mute as fuck.
At OP, sorry for the discussion to start with a rude player. Regarding the topic, I find the emotes distracting. That's why I opt for the plugin that auto-squelch the opponent. It is kinda silly that the devs didn't include this function from the beginning. Even Gwent, upon release, has this function. Believe it or not, some players do find the emotes distracting.

I've been on board with the previous suggestions about an auto-squelch feature as well (although Blizzard have stated they have no intention of adding one, which is a shame). I think I don't mind the visuals of the emotes myself. But I think what leads me to this thought is that sometimes when you are trying to think about what play to make next, the sound effects are distracting. And this is made worse if they are spammed. At least if they are silent, you can still respond to them, but can work out your optimum play better. (Such as trying to add up damage values etc) I am simply someone who can find it hard to maintain a thought track when there is a lot of background noise.
@Sherman1986
I am sure that you are well aware that previous discussions of a similar nature have been about the addition of an auto-squelch feature. This is something entirely different and has not been discussed before. I am proposing (as others have stated above) an expansion in terms of the audio options in the game. This is something that is in many other games and works in exactly the same way. I don't know why you've flown off the handle on this one. I didn't make any sort of complaint in my opening post, and certainly didn't display anything that could be considered salty.
While all this would be nice and I wholeheartedly agree with the premise, realistically it won't be implemented if not never then at least for a very very long time.
Considering Blizzard's unofficial stance a while ago was accept friend requests at your own risk, I suspect they aren't keen on the idea of limiting the already limited social interaction of Hearthstone with auto-muting. This is furthermore compounded by the fact that they choose to spend resources and time fixing non-issues, reference recent changes, rather than implementing a tournament mode which they promised and then scrapped.
tl;dr: good idea, a welcome change, most likely will never happen cause Blizzard philosophy.

The auto-squelch plugin does not work on my PC - it often tracks to the wrong part of the screen. I'm certain the issue is the fact I run a 4K TV with a 1080p monitor. The plugin isn't coded to accommodate that sufficiently. I only ever play fullscreen on the TV, but there must be a conflict when it's trying to determine which x,y co-ord to go to for the squelch. Damn shame :'(

That's Incredible!
Jesus with the people pretending to know the inner fabrics of OP's mind. You guys need to get your heads out of your own ass.
On topic tho, I'd rather have them expand the sound options to something like:
-Master volume
-Music
-Sound effects
-Player voices
that way you'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone, you'd get a proper sound options sytem, and you'd get rid of emote voicelines.
Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
Literally the only reason I play Hearthstone.

We definitely need more options, and not just for sounds, also in the mobile app.
My sound is still up the creek right now! LoL!
Need to get home and finish updating the app on my phone! :-)
