I got frustrated yesterday too. Something like 5 losses in a row. Picked a tempo even pala and lost thinking it plays tricks on me with unbelivable bad card draw, switched to my control/OTK devastating druid and got one of the worst matchups with odd rouge getting destroyed again ... It´s like telling me stick to your taunt warrior or i give you so much bad luck (matchups and card draw) till you give up being creative ....
So I have been reading through this and I must say going from a best rank of 8 to legend in a month is a daunting task. Especially after rank 4 you will notice that the players get s lot more serious. Combine that with the fact that winstreaks do not matter after rank 5 and you are looking at a grind.
For myself it took me about half a year from the first time I got rank 5 to get legend rank, with a couple of them ending at rank 1.
My point is do not get frustrated or annoyed at yourself if you can not get to legend this month. Its a fight against better players than the ones you have faced up to that point, and a fight against yourself. Appreciate the progress you did make wether it be in rank or in something your learned. (And try to still enjoy the game)
My goal atm is that rank 5. I just want rank 5 so I know I cant rank down anymore I want to switch decks but I'm scsred i will drop down to rank 10 if i do that mid climb and not at a milestonew
off -topic, I just started playing again after two years. Am I correct that you stay at rank 5 at the end of the month and dont drop anymore like you used to long time ago? I started last month and ended at 11, but did drop to 16.
I DID IT! Dropped to rank 7 3 stars with even shaman, switched back to the mechathun deck and went to rank 5 in a win streak!!! I need to take a couple days break from hs now and then continue the climb. My friend is at rank 2 atm playing beast secret hunter or midrange idk whats the correct name for it. He had a hiatus of 2 years and just decided "I'm gonna go legend again". That deck is good for rank 5-legend climb?

Friend I feel you. My second game after switching to even shaman in rank 7 I got odd warrior as a matchup. Odd warrior was literally a gift from gods when playing mechathun warlock and I played against like 2 only back at rank 10 and below

Congratulations! Sticking to a deck you know is the best bet often enough.

GG dude, don't worry about loss streaks, they will happen often no matter how good you are because you are bound to get un-favored match-ups now and then. I dropped to rank 3 yesterday and got pissed, then won 6 games in a row today, back to rank 2.
try to think carefully about your whole turn, plan out the entire turn before playing any cards. try to conserve resources. and DONT GET TILTED, or to pressured as you approach ranks one and two.

Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
My advice: pick any standard deck and get lucky enough and you will eventually get legend. Like 85% at least of ladder games have nothing to do with anything except RNG so the deck doesn't matter that much.

Is this coming from someone who climbed to legend this way, or is disappointed that they haven't?
I think it's very hard meta to go for first time legend, too many control and OTK decks - long and complicated games,
aggro is not good now since Blizzard destroyed lots of aggressive cards.
I suggest to try aggressive hunter, it's very hard to grind with control decks to Legend on first time.
Already wasted my dust craft soularium and 2 voodoo dolls :/ cant go back now
Im getting pretty triggered. I just want to hit legend ONCE and then never touch ranked again. But I don't want to waste my time. I don't want to play hearthstone every day 10h knowing I couldn't hit legend
I understand your feelings, i have been there... getting legend is the biggest goal for players, but I think you need to skip this goal for now since the meta is terrible, games are super long and the effort is huge. try to play wild, Even shaman is very cheap deck and you can hit rank 5 quiet fast. from 5 it becomes hard, and at rank 1-2 it's almost impossible to progress.
I think the time and effort does not worth it.
Not true at all, I jumped to rank 1 in 2 days with Even Shaman in Wild (with the ocassional Renolock game), if you can't progress with Shaman you're definitely playing it poorly
Yes and no. I'm bouncing between rank 3 & 2 with it myself (almost hit rank 1 until I got knocked down to 3 again). It depends on which match-up you're talking about. I definitely feel Big Priest is handled much better by skilled players (my last game I took the same Big Priest i faced the game before just to 7 cards until fatigue, which I felt good about due to not playing the deck mindlessly and throwing all of my tempo & value away to eat a board clear in 1-2 turns.
Control Dragon Priest on the other hand? Have yet to win a single game against the deck. Perhaps I am just super unlucky but they either have an answer for a token board every game, swap a big threat's attack followed by SWP if I try to build my board tall & wide and just start burning me out with Anduin. Odd Rogue? Mostly just depends on draw rng for both players (I've had those games where I never saw either of my Golakka Crawlers), nor did I have an eel to try to steal the board back, while I've had rogues that have failed to draw any threatening 3 drops/early pressure and just lost.

You're right about Priest, I won just 1 game against Control/Mind Blast and lost like 6, but I personally won at least 80% of the mirrors and Odd/Kingsbane Rogues though (probably was a bit lucky here and there, I got Maelstrom Portal in most of my opening hands). Renolock usually defeats me only if they get very lucky since it's my main deck so I think I play pretty well around it (basically if they have Shadow Bolt on 3, Lord Godfrey on 7 etc. I just lose as I can't recover after turn 8). I also agree on your point about Big Priests, some of them do play much better, but luckily Even Shaman just destroys them by turn 7-8 and most of them are pretty fucking stupid to begin with (not playing around burn spells and straight up wasting boards clears, I had a few of them immediately play Shadow Word: Pain on an Murkspark Eel, even though they know the deck runs Totem Golem).
Was so close to rank 2 and almost atm dropping back to rank 4 smh
Are you still playing Mecha'thun warlock? If so, don't give up, it's definitely doable, I met a couple when I was going through rank 2.
The best advice I can give to anybody to improve in any game is: play a lot, actively try to get better and watch people better than you play the game.
Edit: also, don't regret crafting soularium, I'd say it's still a good card and will continue to be.
Ah, this reminds me of the first time I tried to reach legend. It was back in MSoG and I was playing Renolock. I can remember how excited I was climbing up the ladder so high and getting matched with serious opponents. I can remember the struggle from back then.
Don't worry, mate, if you invest enough time in your games, you will reach it as well. The trick is to plan your turns carefully and to play around your opponent's turns precisely. Having a hsdecktracker helps a lot. I am sure you can reach it - on my first attempt I managed to go to rank 2, fell back to rank 5 with 0 stars and climbed again to legend. So I am sure you will succeed as well.
Once you reach it, the anxiety will fall off and you might go there frequently. So far I have reached legend 6 times and last month I even played a half-meme deck.
I feel you man, I was at rank 2 three stars and went on incredibly tilting losing streak back down to rank 4 zero stars. The grind is real. I suggest after losing 3 games or so take a break, maybe play some arena or wild. It's a bad idea to continue laddering after couple of losses when you are tilted.
Dropped back to rank 7 I'm losing my mind. I wasted so much dust on this shittty ass deck that depends too much on draws. Someone give a good deck to climb with and so that I wouldnt drop back to rank 10 trying with it
lol. I'm preeeeeety sure you can't fall lower than 5

You drop 4 ranks from your highest that season so if you stopped a R5 you will start a R9 next neason.

play a degenerate aggro deck and climb the ladder ez

The main difference in rank 5-legend is that small mistakes will make the difference between winning and losing often.
many games just come down to one player making a bad play or forgetting an attack or hero power one time.
The margin for error is much smaller because the quality of opponents is higher.
good luck and remember it’s a grind no matter what you do.
