I think it's very hard meta to go for first time legend, too many control and OTK decks - long and complicated games,
aggro is not good now since Blizzard destroyed lots of aggressive cards.
I suggest to try aggressive hunter, it's very hard to grind with control decks to Legend on first time.
Already wasted my dust craft soularium and 2 voodoo dolls :/ cant go back now
Im getting pretty triggered. I just want to hit legend ONCE and then never touch ranked again. But I don't want to waste my time. I don't want to play hearthstone every day 10h knowing I couldn't hit legend
I understand your feelings, i have been there... getting legend is the biggest goal for players, but I think you need to skip this goal for now since the meta is terrible, games are super long and the effort is huge. try to play wild, Even shaman is very cheap deck and you can hit rank 5 quiet fast. from 5 it becomes hard, and at rank 1-2 it's almost impossible to progress.
I think the time and effort does not worth it.
Not true at all, I jumped to rank 1 in 2 days with Even Shaman in Wild (with the ocassional Renolock game), if you can't progress with Shaman you're definitely playing it poorly

Dog’s mechathun list is pretty good. I don’t want to say ignore the people who say cut voidlords, but I strongly disagree with cutting them. The fatigue thing has literally only happened to me once in like 500 games and my opponent still conceded while I was doing it.
Voidlords give you so much time to draw the deck. You can literally play it like a control deck with an almost unstoppable combo.
Soularium is definitely good in the deck. I understand that sometimes you might have a combo piece in the bottom of your deck, but it’s won me so many otherwise unwinnable games. Your opponent often doesn’t expect it and they’re like, fuck, I have to somehow kill him this turn or I lose.
I also put in hellfires for coils just for extra clears. It’s very good against hunter, which is literally half of the meta.
Edit: I did craft all the card I missed and now I'm running the exact list I put there in the original post. Kaladin yes it is Dogs deck it says Dog rank 1 legend lol.
Played like 8h today (OOF) and got to rank 6. 1 time I was 1 win away from rank 5 but I lost the game because of DK being in the bottom 4 cards of my deck. After that I actually quit cause I was too tilted to continue with full mindset. I should maybe switch the deck idk but I will not switch until I hit rank 5 and get the milestone of no star dropping and can cool my stress off for a second.
Wondering what would be the best deck to climb from rank 5 to legend hmmm.....is even shaman in standard too weak? That's the only aggressive deck I have played a lil bit or some zoolock
My suggestion regarding crafting new cards: Think about how the introduction of these new cards help or hinder certain matchups. For example, regarding the Voodoo dolls: In what kind of matchups do you have the feeling that single target removal is lacking? (The most natural replacement for me would be Syphon Soul) If you get rid of your 2nd hellfire, your matchup against decks with multiple small minons (such as Aggro Paladin) will certainly get worse. However, I would suggest that if you struggle against aggro Paladin with this deck (including two defiles, a lot of heal and taunts), there is probaly something wrong with your gameplay. What region are you playing, happy to give some comments if you want.
EU and last game against pally I cleared 2 full board with 2 defiles by the turn 5 and still lost so yeah lol. But when I get the skull, they literally concede when they see the voidlord.
You should never need to use BOTH defiles before turn 5, let him hit you for 7 or whatever and get more value from those defiles, Level Up is gone...Honestly, and no offense, but a lot of people whose "personal best" is rank 8 just don't put enough time, don't do the right plays (without realizing they're making mistakes, most of the time), or both, when grinding.
I do try to look at my missplays like for example I didnt play galvanizer before zilliax (had thun in hand) and lost the game cause of it or not playing around rat trap end game when i would have won in like 2 turns
As the defile thing. I'm a really unlucky player. I don't trust luck on my side never. I hav gotten too many times punished by not clearing a board. He could have had weapon and rng roll into divine shield to all
AUzg is definitely right that playing both defiles by turn 5 is a misplay. I guess there might be one instance where it's right to play one on turn 3, but if it's common you use your board clears that fast many of those are misplays on your part. Even if he gets the divine shiel maul, you only need to pop one of the shields to blow up his whole board. If you had both defiles, you could have saved them and worst cased needed to use both at once, but likely you would keep one of them. Regardless, you need to think ahead to what your opponent will likely do and how you can answer it as the reactive deck.
I made it for the first time a few months ago with deathrattle hunter. This was after consistently making lvl5-lvl1 for a few months before with Big Spell Mage - including getting to legend final boss and losing before sliding back down to rank 4 which was incredibly frustrating.
I thought once I made 5 it would be fairly straight forward to get to legend but in reality it wasn’t. It is a grind and the level of play is consistently better as people make fewer mistakes. I changed from Big Spell Mage to deathrattle hunter as it was a case of ‘if you can’t beat them join them’ as it was clearly the strongest deck at the time.
My advice would be to go for it but not to worry if you don’t quite make it this season. Patience is key and if you’re having a bad run don’t be stubborn - walk away for a bit and come back later to avoid tilting. If you can get to 5 and below consistently you’ll definitely make it, particularly if you play a top tier deck.

I get it lol was a mistake I have faced a couple more odd paladins (doesnt mean things are easier) and I guess I have won them but every game is a BIG struggle where every turn you have a fear of death
Dropped back to rank 7 I'm losing my mind. I wasted so much dust on this shittty ass deck that depends too much on draws. Someone give a good deck to climb with and so that I wouldnt drop back to rank 10 trying with it
So I have been reading through this and I must say going from a best rank of 8 to legend in a month is a daunting task. Especially after rank 4 you will notice that the players get s lot more serious. Combine that with the fact that winstreaks do not matter after rank 5 and you are looking at a grind.
For myself it took me about half a year from the first time I got rank 5 to get legend rank, with a couple of them ending at rank 1.
My point is do not get frustrated or annoyed at yourself if you can not get to legend this month. Its a fight against better players than the ones you have faced up to that point, and a fight against yourself. Appreciate the progress you did make wether it be in rank or in something your learned. (And try to still enjoy the game)

My goal atm is that rank 5. I just want rank 5 so I know I cant rank down anymore I want to switch decks but I'm scsred i will drop down to rank 10 if i do that mid climb and not at a milestonew
After testing a lot i will now try get to R5 again with either even pala or taunt warrior and then look what kind of meta is there. Climbing is very dependent what matchup you get ... I made a strange druid deck. I did win all control and OTK matchups but nearly autoloose to aggro/tempo 0 wins against hunters and that says unusable in the meta/ranks i tested but if 70% is control priest i would climb fast so .....
Share the deck?

Of course man, I use this one: https://hearthintothewild.com/archives/post-3881.html
My win-rate was 66% from rank 3 to rank 1 3 stars, I can PM you the stats if you have any doubts :)
Feel free to add me on EU if you want me to comment on your playstyle, possible improvements etc.
Imagine saying this when odd paladin is the literal best deck in the meta right now.
Good stuff.
Dog's been playing a deck pretty similar (maybe even the same list?)

He's one of the best HS players for complex/control decks, I suggest watching him. He talks through his decisions pretty well too.

play odd paladin, play lots of game.
that's probably the best advice for climbing ladder in standard right now.
Real world tip - if you want to grind legend, and you want to do it semi-quickly, pick a strong aggro deck and go. Slow decks take to long per game.
Odd palladin is ez legend

There is only my justice now
I would put in hellfire and shroom brewers, because your only healing is zilliax and you only have the librarians to activate the spellstones
