It seems that Rastakhan has received a lot of hate in the few weeks of its launch. What do you think about it?How does it stack up to previous expansions?
I personally believe that it is an awesome set with cool mechanics. Compared to Boomsday, it changed the meta quite a bit especially with the recent nerfs. I believe that Rastakhan will shine more after rotation.
As a f2p, I love it. There are only a few legendaries I would be unhappy to open. That has not been the case with recent expansions.
I also like it as an arena player. All of the classes are playable. Most of them have some fun arena cards.
I guess ladder climbers don't like it because the meta hasn't shifted much? They really overdid it with DKs, and nothing has replaced them. It should get better when those rotate out. Even/Odd decks are awful. Unfortunately, those don't rotate out forever. Those were a bad idea from the start, and now design is severely limited by them.
I feel like there was some bashing going on early, giving it comparisons to The Grand Tournament and such, but I've been enjoying it more than Boomsday.
Of this current standard, I think I still have Frozen Throne at the top, followed by Un'goro, and those were released last year. This year's expansions will probably shine brighter when the 2017 expansions leave standard in April.
It was a bit disapointing before the nerfs ,but now it,s really good. The downside with this nerfs is that Druids and Shamans does,nt have a good deck at all,but it was there turn now.
I wouldn't say hate, but it was definitely underwhelming. Obviously, like everyone else, I was looking forward to something new, but sadly, the meta did not change at all with the expansion. And don't kid yourself, it wasn't the expansion that changed anything. It was nerfs that changed it up, and by how much we still don't really know. Odd paladin isn't totally dead and hunter wasn't affected at all by the nerfs.
I'm trying to enjoy this new expansion, but it's still not very enjoyable. It's sad that we have to wait for rotation to really enjoy the new cards, but by then, we're going to have another new expansion. So where does that leave this expansion? Really sad.

I feel that Boomsday and Rastakhan were both underwhelming due to Witchwood and 2017 cards. It’s less of Boomsday and Rastakhan, but previous expansions that are overpowering the newer expansions. Rotation will kill the meta, unlike 2016 cards did when they rotated out. Most cards in play are 2017 cards or witchwood, so we will have to rely on rotation. With that said, Rastakhan did attempt more than Boomsday did with successfully changing the meta.
I don't hate it, there's a lot of decent tier 2/3 decks out of it. There's not you can do in terms of deckbuilding though, most of the decks pretty much build themselves.
Personally, Rastakhan is my favorite expansion. I've found myself trying out more classes other than my go to control pally and druid decks. I've started trying out other classes I don't usually use. Although this is because I have most of the legends I need now. The hype for Rastakhan is real for me. I'm excited for the months to come.

When I die, I want to go peacefully and in my sleep like my Grandpa. Not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car.
It's a good expansion suffering due to bad prior expansions (Frozen Throne was the worst). Once those rotate out the game will be so much better, assuming Blizzard does not release a replacement expansion of insane OP cards.
WitchWood: Some very good tech cards (Arcane Keysmith has been a big winner for me), but a lot of strikeouts. Don't see it being as enduring as Un'Goro was in year-to-year comparison; a lot of U cards still in top play.
Boomsday: Established a ground floor for some classes (in particular, warrior). Mech theme didn't go over so well though. Has probably the most essential cards of the year (Zilliax, Dr. Boom). Probably will have more cards bloom in April too.
Rastakhan: Needed the nerfs to older stuff on Day 1, so it seems like a delayed review. Some very promising cards for future sets, but Hunter seems to be the winner of the moment.
This is going to be a weird statement but I love the expansion but am already getting a bit tired of the standard ladder meta. I’m so tired of facing hunters all the time. I’ll probably log in every 3 days and get my gold.
I’m super excited about the next rotation where I can actually play all the new cards I like.
I think it is a refreshing set full of interesting cards--- many of which will only find their true potential/niche once the Ungoro/Frozen/Kobolds (Especially Quests/Death Knights) rotate out. Definitely felt more like a re-vitalization of the game than Boomsday did, but the nerfs are a huge part of that. I feel less jaded/negative about the horizon of the standard meta, and think there's a lot of fun to be had for those of us (such as myself) who are interested in climbing--- but also doing so with something that has some flavor & fun. I also think there are a lot of really interesting synergies that make certain sets of RR cards quite playable in competitive wild lists (looking at you discard lock, pirate rogue, dragon warrior). All in all, it is my personal favorite of the Witchwood/Boomsday/Rastakhan cycle. I think the balance is set up so that after rotation next year, and with a few enablers for certain archetypes included in the first set of 2019, we are going to see cards from this set shine in standard.
I don't hate it, there's a lot of decent tier 2/3 decks out of it. There's not you can do in terms of deckbuilding though, most of the decks pretty much build themselves.
I definitely disagree about the deck building part. There is a lot out there still to be found.
There is definitely a good tempo rogue somewhere. There is a midrange beast hunter still being figured out. Druid needs to be reworked. Rush warrior is still being figured out. Aggro shaman can still be refined.
I think it's overall a very solid set, lots of really great gems in there.
Problem is the meta, and the ultra powerful stuff from previous sets.
Standard should be really fun right now, but unfortunately it's the same stuff since Witchwood released; Baku, Genn, and DK's are ruining the rest of the card pool.
Nerfs to 5 cards had more impact than an entire expansion.

I'm in love with all the flavour of this expansion. It just feels very satisfying to play some new cards and decks. Also even rogue is fun; surrender to madness priest is also extremely fun (when it works lol); zentimo is such a cool card with unstable evolution; healadin probably won't be competitve but its an enjoyable deck; spirits are really great, much better than I thought; Gonking your opponents is the best thing in this expansion; Whizbang decks are much MUCH better now.

I agree, I really like the theme and the mechanics feel fun and balanced.
I think there's a lot of really good stuff hidden in here.

Definitely much better than Boomsday both in deckbuilding and flavour.
In particular for me, it made Even Rogue appear in Standard and competitive in Wild, and i am now really intrigued by (Wild) Even Priest.
