Besides the obvious problem of powerful previous expansions and well established and strong archetypes,
We can also see major problem with the most anticipated cards (cards to build a strong deck around them) for example:
Undatakah- very slow, requires some setup (dead death-rattle minions) requires "activator" card (like play dead) , otherwise it will be silenced/sap/ transformed (or you simply just dead next turn vs. aggro)
Heal Paladin concept cards - low tempo, can be fine vs. aggro, but unable to win vs combo decks (no win condition). might be fine after DKs will rotate.
Spirit "concept" cards - very slow, loosing tempo, 0 attack minions were always very bad (since you loose a card, and tempo), next turn you can gain it back but requires a certain situation.
Welcome. You must be new to Hearthstone. May I introduce you to the fact that The Grand Tournament happened and by god it was awful, to even compare Rastakan's Rumble to that expansion is in of itself a joke. It's also nowhere near as bad as Mean Streets which has almost all of the most hated cards in Hearthstone History and the most infamously hated decks like Jade Druid and Pirate Warrior.
As people have said already 2018's Hearthstone expansions haven't been bad, moreso their power level has been significantly lower compared to Kobolds and Catacombs and Knights of the Frozen Throne, which is a strategic move on Blizzard's part. The moment those two expansions rotate out next year, these cards will become a lot more significant.
None of the significant cards this expansion are bad. They're just bad when put in comparison to cards from Kobolds and Catacombs and Knights of the Frozen Throne.
In all fairness to TGT, it had no help from Blizzard whatsoever to become relevant. If they weren't so lazy with nerfing Dr. Boom and Piloted Shredder, maybe some of its cards would have seen play.
Witchwood and BDP have been exceptionally weak too, but Blizzard at least nerfed a few cards to make room for the new, worse ones. If they hadn't, those two would have been as dead in the water as TGT was.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Start of Year: Provoke the failure of 3 expansions, force nerfs on otherwise balanced cards, bring deckbuilding to an all-time low and get rotated one year earlier for being such a threat to the game's health. - Genn and Baku's historical entry on the White Book of Shit Design, shortly before retiring unpunished
I don't think we had a good expansion since KaC. The major deck themes keep reoccurring with only the respective powerlevel variing from time to time. We really need a major mix up after the rotation next year.
Unpopular opinion here! I actually liked TGT both flavor-wise and card-wise. It (and Inspire) would have been much more impactful if there had been Deathknights or Odd/Even decks at that time.
As for RR, I don't like its theme but cards themselves are alright. The existing decks are simply too powerful and refined but that doesn't mean there is any problem with the recent set. Any problems there are could be solved with nerfs or the next rotation.
I've just checked the decks used in HTC Philadelphia: Ondaasta and Undatakah (both Rastakahn tier 1 Legendaries) are not even used in DeathRattle Hunter or Beast Druid.
I think i'll save most of my dust to April 2019 expansion ;)
and then you'll craft rastakhan cards because their power level is fine, the problem was knc and KFT power levels were so high they warped the Meta way too much.
Actually TGT changed the meta way more than RR did so far : control warrior power increased with Justicar as well as priest one. Dragon priest also gained additional great dragon like twilight guardian or wirmrest agent. Secret Paladin was a whole new archetype. You also had more powerful neutral and class card : totem golem, tuskar totemic, chillmaw, argent horserider, buccanner, argent horserider, aviana, mulch, arcane blast and so on...
I wasnt refering to card desing! I am disapointed because there's not a single Legendary card we can build our decks around... Zul'jin is the only good Legendary card but its only playable in a specific deck of a specific class: Spell Hunter.
In the other expansions you had cards like Lich King, Zilliax, Prince Keleseth, Greymane and so on...
I don't see how Lich King and Zilliax are legendaries that you build around - they are in fact the opposite, being legendaries that you can slot into almost every deck.
It seems like what are you are referring to is legendaries that are flexible and can be used in multiple decks and classes. But that is precisely what Blizzard is trying to move away from. They want each class to use different legendaries and are trying to avoid all-purpose auto-include legendaries like the Dr Boom of old.
Secondly this statement is way off when u compare with Boomsday expansion. Add that to the fact ur account is 5 days old in guessing a troll or a noob is around. Both cant be taken serious when it comes to analyse stuff.
That said the meta hasn't really shaken up too much but its more flexible more things work but those that have played the game for some time know that with Year of the Mammoth carda still in standard it would be difficult for new cards to make an over the top change unless they kept printing broken op cards until the game died. This balance of exp in year of the raven cards will keep things balanced and prolong the healthiness of standard mode.
Be ready for RR exp having lots of cards to be used in April
It's just that the powerlevel of this expansion is really low so people just keep playing Koft and KNC based decks cuz they are really strong and i don't blame them for that. Once these expansions rotate out in April many cards will see play i think it will be the most exciting thing that happened in HS in a while. I just hope they will keep the power level low for the rest of the sets we dont need "Gamebreaking" expansions anymore.
As people stated already, the powerlevel of this expansion is quite fair, but it is outpaced a little bit.
Lets wait until the rotation and you will see quite a lot of cards at work in meta decks.
In my humble and personal opinion, RR comes out at the better half of the expansion. Quite a lot interesting cards without broken shit (so far).
So its a good expansion. And to be honest. Team5 is getting a lot better in designing cards, nerfing and balancing. Not everything is perfect. But since i played since Naxx, i remember the really bad expansions and broken interactions.
I'm just disappointed the new set hasn't really made the previous non-played cards any more viable and they won't see play until they rotate, just because the sets they're in contain powerful cards in them which overshadow everything else. Specifically, I was looking forward to playing some healadin with pearl spellstone and benevolent djinn, but there's not a real reason to play any of those cards when all of the old decks outshine the new possibilities.

I think it's better to say the KotFT DKs and KnC cards in general are overpowered. Relax until the rotation.

Even Gormok was seeing play with zoo.

For me it's not. And I think it gets better when cards rotate out. We'll be seeing a lot of other cards by then.
If by a month u mean 2 weeks than sure.

Frozen Throne is the worst, thanks to DKs, Keleseth and Hadronox.

TheMessanjah is clearly from the future.
If i were from the future i woudnt have pre-ordered the RR :) :) :)
TGT forever the worst <3
Love the tribes.
OMG PLEASE STOP POSTING THESE THREADS.
if i committed suicide, these threads will be the reason.
why ? every single expansion we get " ugghh this is the worst expansion ever" and then the posts:
- yeah it is
- no i like the expansion
- actually it's pretty fun.
please get over these threads, eveyone get his own opinion and we read it 2/3 times each expansions,
i suggest the mods make a thread for each expansion about the players' opinion to not see such threads.

It's not rng if you call - Amaz
It's actually a really good expansion, the previous expansions were just way too high power-level.
