With Dane posting highlights of a two and a half hour game at Rank 25 using Shudderwock Shaman making the front page of this subreddit, I think it's completely safe to say that our tolerance for this deck has officially ended. It's clear that no one who designed this card would know the amount of damage this one card has done with the game. The animations aren't going fast enough, the Battlecries are only going to get worse as time goes on, making the deck even more of an eyesore - it's high time that Shudderwock got a change.
Chiefly, scrap the ability of using Battlecries from the game.
Those of you who want to downplay this eyesore forget that we are stuck for at least April 2020 with this card, and replacements for Zola the Gorgon, Grumble and Saronite Chain Gang are somewhere down the pipeline to compliment this card. We cannot wait until that time to just wish it away into Wild and forget it ever existed - more obnoxious Battlecries will be paired with this to the point that we'll have games like this pop up.
So I propose a change to Shudderwock's Battlecry: What if, instead of Battlecries....
...it triggered DEATHRATTLES instead?
It would still make Shudderwock a Control staple, it would instantly turn him from one of the most hated cards into one of the most popular (especially in Wild), and he'd have a unique Battlecry that has never been seen before.
What say you, Hearthstone community? Would you support such a change?
The card was specifically designed to replay battlecries (a common feature of shaman cards) so changing to deathrattles is a bad idea. They literally just need to put a cap on the number of battlecries it can play (10 for example) and the problem is solved. Still usable in certain decks, can still do the combo if you get lucky, but no assurance that it'll work out every time. That also solves the problem with the battlecries taking too long.
Change it from a battlecry to a deathrattle and give shaman an easy way to destroy their own minions like:
1 mana spell: Destroy a minion. Overload (5)
Now his battlecry won't stack and he isn't such a pain when resummoned because of all the copy/bounce back effects. The thing that sucks most about this card is how many times you can play it plus it's effect stacking.
Do you want Shudder to have a battlecry or a deathrattle that triggers deathrattles? Also, I wonder if it should do neither, as long as we are changing it, I think cards that cast every blank played this game tend to be uncreative and problematic. Like, I would change Zuljin and Shudder and just leave Yogg and tess because those two are not as controllable.

But then people would complain and compare it to Yogg, Zul'jin, and Tess getting all of their triggers, and nothing gets changed.

I would like to point out that with how the card would be designed, it wouldn't revive minions that had Ancestral Spirit used on them. It would only revive those that had Deathrattle originally.
I can't argue about the speed of battlecries played through Shudderwock's effect. They had to speed up Lifedrinker's animation because of the overuse of the card and it seems like they'll need to do something similar. Also, isn't there already a hard cap on Shudderwock only reproducing a maximum of 30 battlecries?

No, leave shudderwock alone. It's a cool card and it's a cool deck. It's a jacked tier 3 deck, deal with it. the dude in the vid was playing a meme deck to make the game last that long. with a lifedrinker he could have just otk'd. hitting the turn limit isn't a big deal, control mirrors can do it with with cards like dead mans hand, benedictus, quest priest type decks.
Grumble rotates next anyway and there are currently no saronite like cards that would allow you to bounce it. Even if there was, bouncing a 9 mana shudderwock isn't broken. I don't think "don't reprint grumble" really limits design space in any way.
It's hardly more gamebreaking than many of the things in standard already, and it's not that polarizing compared to other decks.
No. It's not Shudderwock but rather the synergy between Saronite Chain Gang, Lifedrinker, Zola the Gorgon and Grumble, Worldshaker which causes the possibility of infinite/OTK loops. Since battlecries are a main theme of the class (see Elemental Shaman) it's highly unlikely that they'll change the card in such a drastic way.
Also, if that were to happen you'd have to nerf Togwaggle Druid as well. The animation of Hakkar, the Soulflayer or, more precisely, the stream of Corrupted Blood is no less obnoxious to endure.
My issue with Shudderwock is that its battlecry severely limits design space for future battlecries. Maybe this is Team 5's way of reminding themselves not to print any busted battlecries, to avoid power creep again lol

No. Its fine. Its like the rest of OTK decks.

I saw the video and its disqusting. Well not nececaty shudder but rumble need to change.
How do you know this?

Let me guess? Another control hate thread on OTKs?
Can we get some more original threads yet?
