as someone who plays on a very limited budget - I’ve spent less than 100$ on this game since it launched, I envy the players that spend hundreds each expansion simply because they can afford to take a break from this game. I play creatively, trying to find interesting ways around the meta. For the First month of an expansion I have a lot of fun with the cards I like and try to use them as best I can. The last month of an expansion is my least favorite time as the meta has solidified and trying to be different just simply doesn’t work. I would love to be able to walk away from the game during this time but cant afford missing a quest and failing to maximize my gold for the next release. I’m not salty I accept that this is what the game is and won’t be quitting anytime soon but damn is it a chore to log in and get blasted by odd rogues in ladder and casual every day while I wait for new cards.
Here's what i do. I change all the WIN quests i get to "play xx class cards/deathrattles/pirates/spells etc" so i can finish them off quickly. I need 30 minutes at most every three days to clear them all off. I don't ladder at all and i get 5000 gold and 5000 dust for every expansion. More that enough for crafting meme cards i want to have fun with for the next four months.
Simply math. If I complete every quest for 4 months between expasion everday I earn at least 50x120 = 6000g. If I play casualy and manage to win only 3 game everyday I will earn extra 1200g in 4 months. So, exclude every promotion double gold event I will have like 7000-8000g between expansion just by playing very very casualy. Add by the fact Blizz usually give around 10 pack for each new expansion, you can always open 90 pack at least when new expansion hit , thats enough to make any 2 strong deck of your choice
And btw, everyone love free stuff, even p2p player like me. Thats human nature. I no whales but I have most of the card, still spend $100 for every expansion but still maximize my gold by doing all quest.
Play arena if you don't want to spend much on the game, it's considerably more profitable than constructed even if you're not that good yet. Infinite arena players earn a pack per hour + a little bit of gold on top while ranked players only get like 20-30g during the same time.

you should because simply math:
become good at arena, go infinite, get free packs + free runs (and more fun than constructed) -> profit.
The best solution would be to find a nice group of friends to blast through the quests, play matchups you like and try new decks with. The extra dust from getting to rank 5 is nice, but by doing the quests alone you should be well equipped for new expansions!
Best way to do quests is friends. Get some friends.
You can add me if you want. I always appreciete to play duels since they are funnier than casual or competitive play mode.
I can even let you borrow my decks.

Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
I am surprised, I am also a F2P and I don't have the feeling I am limited in the cards I can get. And I am basically just doing the quest because don't have so much time to play.
Usually open around 60 packs at each launch (5000 gold save + free packs). With their Free legendary at launch + 1 in the 10 first packs rule and then the 40 packs pity timer, it means I get at least 3 legendary if I am unlucky.
It depend on how I like the expansion but usually I continue to buy some packs with gold till I get 1 or 2 (more if I really like the expansion) legendary. So usually around 30-40 packs.
And I always have some dust to craft 1 or 2 legendary (or some epic) on the side usually.
Then start to save again for next expansion. To reach again 5000 gold at launch.
If I still want to open pack and save a bit I have a homemade rule :
Buy 3 packs every 400 gold earned.
If I want to buy more to get a legendary, I set a new "0" to my gold like "When I reach 1000 gold, I consider it as my 0 and can't get below". Then I buy packs with gold till I get a legendary and start saving (3 packs / 400 gold) or full saving.

Between expasion I easily save 5000g just by doing daily and go to rank5. It doesnt even count events.

play arena
Why should I?
