Rastakhan's Rumble is around the corner and, as I did for The Boomsday Project, I took some time to analyze the value of the bundles that Blizzard is offering us. Hopefully this analysis will be an useful guide for those who are willing to invest some money in this new expansion. I encourage you to double check my analysis, correct/dispute it and generally provide any feedback you may think could be helpful to the topic.
As a general disclaimer please mind that the "dust per pack" value is not set in stone and impossible to determine. There are 2 main source for data on this regard, one is PityTracker, that suggests a value fluctuating between 86.7 and 100 dust per pack (the 86.7 value doesn't account for golden cards), and Hearthstone Wiki, which suggest a 102.71 dust per pack value, based on a pool of 32,697 packs opened. I then decided, in order to try and please everyone, to create 2 distinct calculations, one for each source. Also please mind another important data, the PRICE PER PACK value, which is another important parameter to keep in consideration when analyzing a new bundle.
The HERO VALUE is another critical topic. You may consider it or not, the tables show both options. If you do, a $9.99 value has been added to the bundles.
Analysis: it's pretty clear that this bare-bone bundles from Blizzard are the worst, in terms of value offered, since the beginning of this Hearthstone year. The price per pack oscillates between a $1.00 value (like Boomsday, but unlike WW, at $0.71) and $1.18 for the 17 packs bundle, which is actually $0.01 more than the actual retail standard price for a 60 packs bundle ($1.17). The lack of any golden or normal legendaries included as an extra bonus drops the dust per dollar value to a HS year low of 102.73 (85.04 for the 17 packs bundle), compared to a more generous 132.03 of Boomsday and a 140.03 of WW.
As usual please see attached screenshot of the data and feel free to reach out to me to have a source of the original file.
Hope this will help you evaluating your purchases! See ya in game!!
Omg please stop with this kind of posts. We know that it's different.

God bless you. It seems like every member doesnt have a mind channel that helps them decide if they should or shouldnt post something. Im buying it either way.
Thanks for doing these statistics again, it's pretty cool being able to track this stuff imo.
That being said, I think the title feels a lot more clickbait than it could have been. People have already gone over that you get less dust per dollar, but comparing these deals to past ones this year isn't really the best since WW and Boomsday had crazy bundles. WW offering 70 packs for the normal price just isn't going to be topped and the Boomsday 80 for 80 was a bit worse, but it's still a lot of packs. Comparing the deal this time to the deals last year and the ones before then I think will show that it is still a good deal compared to others in the past.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.

This kind of posts are not intended to judge a bundle on a personal opinion or view. I'm analyzing data and trying to help veterans and new player with a quick glance on the value of the individual offers. So please stop treating this data analysis as a complaint.
to your point I personally bought both bundles, so... what are you trying to prove?
EDIT: the original calculation for Boomsday was actually my answer to "those kind of posts" from people constantly complaining. So, I'm sharing your point of view, but I think you're missing the point of my analysis.

Everyone has a functioning mind, but I wish someone did this when I was a HS noob to help me figure out how much was the value of the dollars spent.
Not everyone is an HS super-expert and this guide is not discouraging everyone from purchasing.
I like your analysis, but I do question the use of "dust value per $", because I think it is misleading. After all, and especially early in an expansion, people don't have most of the cards opened in their collection and thus won't dust them.
I would rather use "% of new cards obtained per $", but obviously that makes the calculation a lot harder. I did some work on that some time ago though, and I can say with some confidence that the first 50 packs (no matter how you acquire them) will, on average, leave you with 90% of all commons, about 64% of all rares, 15% of all epics and 20% of all legendaries (including the free one on log in).
I did track my collection progression card by card for Boomsday, maybe I'll get around doing a proper model before Rastakhan launches.

While aggressive, I believe their point is that the value in pcurhasing has nothing to do with the cents difference between packs bought but whether you want to buy it or not.
The percentage difference itself is tiny at best, and since you cannot trade cards or accounts, value is rather irrelevant.
That all said I personally find the spreadsheets very cool and informative and appreciate the efforts players make to do these kinds of things

Interesting, and if you have any calculations or data on this please DM me and let's share it. We can work on a data model based on completion and integrate it with our individual analysis

True and not true at the same time. While I agree that the difference is tiny in some cases (but larger in some others, see the amazing WW bundle), I also think that every one of us has a different resources stock. Let me explain. I, for example, am sitting on a 16,000 dust and 7,500 gold pile that I'm working on since the beginning of the HS year, in a plan of entering the standard meta only after the next rotation. So, to me, skipping a preorder could be taken in consideration. (although as I said I bought both bundles).
So yeah, it could be useful or not, but I think it varies on a case to case basis.
My hope is that this could be useful especially to new players with less experience, giving them a broader view on how their dollars are boing spent.
What is up with people being so damn negative... like this is just some nice little information that someone made. I’d rather have informational posts than salty people making threads that should belong in the salt discussion.

While locking down an exact price per pack is useful, the packs themselves will vary in value from set to set. To me, Lich King packs were far more valuable than Boomsday or Witchwood because there were many more cards I was interested in included in them. While I'm tempted to pre-order again, I probably have the gold and dust available to get any cards I want so unless there is an absurd number of rares, epics and legendaries that I'm interested in, I probably will just stick to crafting whatever I don't get but still want.
Also if I'm not mistaken, not every pre order gave you a free legendary, but we got a free legendary for logging in on day one as well.
That's something that should be taken in consideration if applicable to Rastakhan's as well. Any source about this? If we verify it I'll include the free legendary in the calculation.

nice stats but honestly it doesn't matter. why? cause if u want to spend money u will regardless of the offer %

tl;dr this bundle sucks because no free legendary w/preorder.
I don't agree that it's correct to assume a free legendary is the standard inclusion in preorder bundles, instead of viewing them as a bonus.
