As someone reached legend rank there times. I can't believe people still playing constructed & spending crazy amount of money on this game after all these years. I am not talking about newbies and talking about veterans (people who are playing this game more than a year). Constructed is so repetitive, so boring. You play against same three decks over and over and over again.
In constructed, I feel like most of the time your decisions don't matter. You win or lose based on your opponent's class (rock, scissor, paper) and/or mulligan and first four draws. If my opponent gets the perfect start hand - what you can see in the first two to three turns, i just give up and play another round. I don't care about my rank anymore. Since it's just a random effect that makes you lose (huge win streaks, huge loss streaks) it has nothing to do with skill, so i'm not angry if I lose, its just luck. But also i'm not happy if I win, because I was just the lucky guy then. I can't believe people still play constructed and reach legend every season without getting fatigue.
Arena is the only part of the game which still keeps me going. And I will be playing as long as i'm happy with it. Another good thing is as an Arena player don't need some spend any money on this game, you can always complete daily quests and get enough money for your next run.
I never really cared much for Arena. The decks always end up being really boring for me to play because the decks are so random. In constructed I can put together a stupid deck to have fun with, in Arena I’ve got so little input on what it actually ends up being.
At its core, yes the game is kind of like you described. Thats why there are new expansion every 3 months to keep it feeling fresh. Now, its adding new mechanics and game types to keep it interesting.
Im glad you found a way to stay relaxed and positive about the games outcome. I dont do well on a losing streak when I play the Ladder.

It's just like any other card game. People enjoy the competition.

There is some skill. You can't just blindly choose cards, throw'em down and expect to win. Expecting what the other player will play ahead of time and playing around it can definitely help. Playing around cards like MCT, Level Up (by keeping the board clean of Silver Hands), holding onto board clears and knowing when to use it, etc etc. Sure, it gets boring, as every card game does over time. This is just how it is.

Arena is great. Definitely tests deck building skills.
I have people in my friend list who gets to Legend every month. As someone who's been Legend a few times, I don't understand how they don't get bored doing it every month. Last time I reached Legend was on BDP release and I've only done my dailies in constructed ever since, been playing more Arena. I wouldn't say that it's not fun at all but grinding the climb every month sure feels like a chore, that's why I barely do it anymore, even though I know I can do it rather quickly.
I'm surprised you made a thread like this though, based on your avatar, it seems like you think Legend is some kind of big deal and you feel the need to show that you've been there for some reason. In my eyes, Legend is almost meaningless, it only shows me that the player has basic understanding of the game. I still see plenty of Legend players who tap last and just play poorly overall.
There's a series of games run by Iron Realms Entertainment. MUDs: basically MMOs without graphics and played like old style text adventures. They were my first experience into F2P styled play and a cash shop. They are also a big reason why I have a hard time raging over Hearthstone's pay system as they seem like generous madmen compared to those series of games. If you were F2P you were basically hardlocked at..well, I'd say the HS equivalent would be about half of the Classic set and 10 random legendaries and 0 dust for more. The players that could actually make a difference in top tier PvP were dumping thousands into their characters.
I played those games at around 1999 and stopped at around 2006. Still once in a rare while I glance back to see how it's doing. It's still there. There are players I played with that are still there. There's even a stray post not to long ago that remembers me (I miss them too).
The point. People will ALWAYS be playing games like these. If you're expecting some mass exodus and everyone abandoning the game then that won't happen here.
Personally, I prefer Constructed to Arena. Arena feels a lot more restrictive as you don't get to decide your deck and you're at the mercy of what cards your opponent got. If someone kills me in Constructed with a deck I don't know about, I HAVE the ability to craft it, dusting a few bad cards if necessary. If Arena dumps me a bad deck against someone with lots of board clears and a few legendaries then I feel like I wasted my time.
I go full casual in Constructed flat out preferring to stay at rank 15 to keep with similar people. If I wanted to compete, I would just grab an interesting decent deck and start grinding as you only need 'the same three decks' if you are actually aiming for top 200 legend. Normal numbered ranks isn't nearly as demanding unless you actually NEED a Top 100 legend deck just to beat casuals at rank 5. But I want to play mech Paladin and Tess Rogue and other janky stuff. And that's not something Arena lets me do. Rank 15 Constructed does.
So yeah, I'd put the same question to you: how can you play the same "pick the best choice from HearthArena and play vs the same cards" Arena for years on end. But then, I don't question why people still play Lusternia or why folks are still speedrunning Super Mario Bros (or why I really wish someone was allowed to make an updated version of Inner Space).

what do you think guys?
I think it's fine.
Pretty much this. But sorry i think OP never got legend. Because Legend players understand it takes some skill to get even with most op deck there not just random card throws.
To be fair, in this meta you don't see the same three decks every time you play, like last year when it was either some priest deck, cube warlock or pally.
I just fell in love with APM Priest. That Deck is so much Fun! And its not too bad at all. I am at about 60% WR. Sure sometimes i lose 6 games in a row if I just don't draw my deathrattles, but other than that its worth a try :)

Your opinion is VERY valuable for the community (actually it's NOT).
You are saying that winning/losing with CONSTRUCTED decks depends totally on LUCK and on the other hand in ARENA which has every luck element in CONSTRUCTED exists plus your LUCK in the deck building stage IS not LUCK dependent :D
Sorry but something really wrong in your statements.
For me ARENA is the most annoying part of the game. I play it only when I'm offered a special deal. I'm playing this game since TGT and only played around 70 Arena games.
I like playing constructed, I mostly play at weekends and finish every season between rank 5-1. Since I don't play much (compared to the legend players) I am not bored as you've said. Every weekend I am testing different META decks. There are dozens of competitive decks and if you are not going for legend a Tier 4-3 deck can also make you pass Rank 5 easily.
As a veteran player (playing since beta, got legend) I dont like arena because I love to build fun decks and try new things. If you are not into grind constructed is the real fun. I finished last season at rank 4 with a homebrew wild espionage rogue deck and had really good time. I know seeing same decks over and over is nerving, I hate netdecking with all my heart but this is inevitable. People want to win, I want to have fun and some people just have fun from winning. For me meta is fine, there is diversity but stale. When Rastakhan drop this will change. People are very negative and dissapointed because of the game has so much potential, should be way better (I agree with that). I think hs, especially constructed is good but the grind is killing fun.
Why dont you play wild....there is more then 3 decks hahaha also you could go for legend with homebrew if you have enough time and will..... Im Rank 3 (im not going for legend) with cubegg lock, mechalock (not mechathun) and buff double lock. Having so much fun with those decks....:) also still playing biglock from time to time.
If you dont wanna ply ranked then play wild casual :)
I don't claim I am the best player, but I did get Legend with Spiteful Mage 2 seasons ago...so, OP, it's possible to get there with a deck that's not top-tier; and there is definitely some skill in the game, not only in piloting the deck but reading the meta etc. ...and of course, you need perseverance through bad streaks (that happen to everyone!)
It is possible to enjoy constructed, both standard and wild, without going for legend are really caring about what rank you get. I've been playing since the beta primarily in standard and I've never gotten above rank 15, but I still have fun.
Try this: Ignore the net decks. Don't even look at them. For the next expansion, just come up with a few deck ideas that sound fun to you and try to make them work. You might drop a few ranks, but why does that matter? I bet you'll have more fun playing around with your deck ideas at 45% win rate then trying to follow a strict meta with a 55% win rate.

I throw together random garbage and see what sticks, arena just feels too similar, no crazy stuff and power variation like their use to be.
The arena meta right now is a lot more stale than the constructed meta. Every class just drafts tempo into violet wyrm
You can sometime try your own deck, not the 3 meta decks to go legend.
For instance, try recruit warrior, just have fun.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
I quit for the same reason.
Was enjoying this game back then from Old gods and Karazhan.
As i played over years, game became more and more unfun for me.
It's just like this that happened. Played a match --> won but felt nothing.
Not to mention that luck is a must to win.
And arena is absolute bs. Don't waste your time.
Only total scrubs claim that decisions don’t matter.
