Remember when in-game achievements were a thing, like when you got 300 gold for winning 1000 games? I just got my 500th win with my 9th class and, although I didn't expect to get anything, I was disappointed that there's no acknowledgement from the game. Also, does Innkeeper have the ability to detect golden heroes? I feel like it should be a HearthPwn achievement at the very least.
When I got the ninth one I was glad the slog was over. Your prize is freedom.
Lol this is so true. I am looking forward to playing good decks from any class instead of just sticking to the ones I still needed to get to 500. Hunter was my first golden hero and outside of daily quests, I haven't played hunter for years.

Ahah same here, getting the last one (golden priest) was the biggest drag of them all. I believe i still have exactly 500 heroes with him.
I’m in the boat where my prize will be the freedom to ply whichever deck I desire. I need 40ish wins with hunter then I will just have Paladin and shaman to go. Not looking forward to either of them.
Wait, wait, wait... So, you bust your butts to get the golden portraits. That's fine. I understand that, even though it's a cosmetic thing. But...
... Then you never play the class again after you get the portrait? And you would stop playing altogether once you have all of them? Then what's the point of getting that portrait if you're never going to use it?
I am genuinely confused. It would be like saving up tons of money to buy something like a car just so you could know it's in your garage, and then never drive it.
I have all 9 heroes golden, my frustration is don't get anything when you win another 500 games with the class, with rogue I win enough for 10 times the golden portrait and not a single extra pack doing this.
Should have a 5 packs reward everytime you get 1.000 wins with a class...

Oh no, I definitely plan on using every class as the meta shifts now that I have them all done. I just wanted to get them all and I didn't want to end up with 3,000 wins with one class and 50 in another so I tried to focus on one class at a time and then move on to the next one once I got to 500. I feel like Blizzard does a good job of giving out rewards when you start the game, but then totally drops the ball for people who have been playing for a long time when they reach big achievements. If you give out a reward for 1,000 wins, why not at 5,000 or 10,000? I just think they could find more ways to keep older players motivated.
I was playing this game since vanilla still have only 4 golden heroes...
I gotta say for you though brother, you in particular have a special place in my hearthpwn heart as a genuine forum personality and someone that gives a lot to the community. Not everyone agrees with your witicisms but personally I think they're friggin brilliant. Pity toymachine isn't here anymore.
My Golden hero grind motivation was fairly simple. I've only reached Legend once and I doubt I'll repeat that again. Nine golds...rewards patience over skill and there was no deadline on it. In my WoW days, I ground out Scarab Lord, a few realm firsts and a fair few gladiator titles. Makes you realize one thing: -
Quantity is its own quality.
Now my watch has ended grind has completed, I've no real targets to complete other than achieving a respectable rank, making goofy decks and really hoping that one day Kaladin rants about me in in the salt thread. I like to think that I can add some amusing anecdotes here after some of these experiences.
Plus praying to fuck that Blizzard don't add 1000 win targets and rewards.
I mean what more could you want? They are already very generously selling you hero portraits for 50 dollar preorders. WHy Do yoU eveN CaRe ANyWAY YouR GolDen HerO portrAITs aRE juST COSmeTiC anD hAVe No EffECt on Teh GAeM

Likewise you could just earn legend once. It's much easier and there is the same lack of gratification waiting for you. I would imagine most people disillusioned with Hearthstone are those of us who have finished high legend or who have went to the extreme and found the bottom of this shallow pool. The people still defending this game are those who think there is some unexplored depth or those with ladder anxiety. This is the kiddy pool folks. There aren't any gold medals or trophies coming your way for putting your time in.

Blimey mate, psychoanalyze much?
Addressed this earlier. I did the legend thing once. That was enough.

This is absolutely true haha. The prize is the realization that you can finally stop playing Hearthstone.

is it?
I don't have 9 heroes yet, but I rarely wanna play my golden ones because I don't feel like I'm "progressing" at all lmao
I'm afraid I won't have any objectives once I get all of them...

The golden hero is a prize it self, you want a prize for collecting some prizes?

I will probably never get to enjoy this feeling since I play control and matches take ages to complete.
Just be happy you have all the heroes golden, thats a big accomplishment.
Me? Gongaga.

Or, you know, you could actually have fun with the game. I know, a foreign concept to you toxic fellows, but not impossible despite your protests.
